Secondary and tertiary drug abuse prevention

This bacelor work deals with the subjective perception of significance of substitution treatment by it's clients. It's aim is to find out, how the clients of this treatment perceive it's significance primarily in their lives. Out of the data gained from the research it is obvious that despite some negatives of the substitution treatment it's clients considers it to be very positive especially because it allows them to get involve in the society and to live the "normal life". Suprisingly, in comparison with the orientation of intact population the clients almost completely ignore the influence of substitution on their state of health and the risk of transer of infection diseases. Causes of increased risk of drug abuse in adolescents

This work deals with the problem of drug use among adolescent populations. The aim is to find out what the risk of excessive drug use causes. The focus is based on the increasing in drug-dependent adolescents in the Czech Republic and the need to systematically address this issue. In our country, there is research that primarily aims to warn children and adolescents from using drugs. In my work I deal why pubescent and adolescence decide to try the drug and continue to use it as a solution to their problems. The work consists of five chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the period of adolescence, the definition of the developmental period of time from the perspective of different theories. The second chapter deals with changes in puberty and adolescence. First, it is focusing on the biological changes, then the psychological and social. The third chapter is devoted to drug use and its consequences, including a description of the physical and psychological dependence. Also in this chapter are discussed in more detail the effects of the most commonly used drugs in the Czech Republic. The fourth chapter contains a summary of the causes of drug use in adolescence. Effect of addictive drugs on prenatal development

Substance abuse is long-term worldwide problem. This thesis summarizes findings about the effects of stimulants, opiates and hallucinogens and focuses on the most commonly used illegal representatives of individual groups: cocaine, amphetamines, heroin and LSD. All these substances have negative effect on both mother and her fetus. Some of addictive substances can influence pregnancy and childbirth. There is also higher risk of fetus mortality and morbidity of the new born baby. Prenatal exposure to addictive substances could have influence on the birth weight, length, head circumference, its further growth and behavior. Some drugs can cause neonatal abstinent syndrome which can lead without prenatal care to death of newborn.
Institutional Treatment of Adolescent Problematic Drug Users at Cesta Řevnice

This work puts in aim to describe some of the specifics in working with adolescent drug users. It describes a profile of a problematic drug user and the working system in the only one specialized facility targeted on problematic drug users treatment, Cesta Řevnice. This work follows the history, structure and the program in this facility. It closely studies therapies such as individual and group therapy, profession consultancy and outdoor activities. In the second part of work are analysed the commonest abused drugs used by teenagers comming to Cesta Řevnice, characteristics of these drugs and its acute and also long-term effects on their users.

The production and illegal trade of drugs is the domain of international organized crime. Illegal weapon trade and human trafficking often follow these activities. The drug abuse means serious threat for the society. It doesn't mean danger only for the drug addict, who is suffering from health problems, which are following the addiction, family and friends alienation, financial problems and losing its place in the society, drug addicts often need medical care, they commit crimes to earn money, because they are unable to do it legally, and they are often carrying and spreading lots of infectious diseases. Occurence comparison of socio-pathological phenomena in school facilities in areas with different population size

The object of this work is action research and analysis of its results, which relate to the socio-pathological phenomena studied in two schools in areas with different populations. It is a school of Jan Werich in Prague 6, which represents the big city school facilities and school Libice nad Cidlinou representing rural schools in areas with low population. The theoretical section deals with the short characteristics examined social pathology in the research section is devoted to analysis of the results.
Phenomenon of Men's Therapy Group in Therapeutic Community

The major aim of this thesis is to focus on the part of a program of therapeutic communities for drug abusers called "the men's groups." The thesis is bringing the facts and the views at the present position of men in society, developmental problems of men and male themes. It describes the gender issue in the field of mental disorders and drug abuse. It informs about the origin and experiences in running of the men's groups in the world as well as in the Czech Republic especially the League of Outspoken Men and Therapeutic Community Podcestný Mlýn. The constituent of this thesis is the search with an aim to map the presence and the approach of men's groups in the programs of therapeutic communities united in the Section of therapeutic communities of Association of Non-Governmental Organizations.
The investigation of narcotics and psychotropics abuse in the context of following aspects of criminal offence

The dissertation work entitled "The Investigation of narcotic and psychotropic substances' misuse in the context of related offence" is a report focused on current situation in drug abuse in the Czech Republic. Social, health, economic and criminal consequences of narcotic and psychotropic substances' misuse are serious social-patologic phenomenon. The drug abuse is a threat to the social status of individuals as well as their communities, and results in separation from major society. They gradually lose contact with their natural social environment, give up any possibilities to obtain, improve or just keep their qualification, lose job together with economic independence and their family life breaks down. The life failure culminates in psychical or fysical problems. The risk of addiction permeate through the whole population; narcotic and psychotropic substance's abuse threaten particularly working people. According to the author, the most threatened groups are children and teenagers between 13 and 18 followed by young people who have just reached civil competence, and specific professions such as prostitutes or artists {--} with their problems, fashion eccentricity, extreme stress, drugs accessibility and financial security. This dissertation work deals with a lot of aspects of drug abuse: definition of the addiction, start and development of the addiction, stages gradually culminating in the addiction, specification of the notions of the addiction, specification of every single drug, global view on drug abuse as a world problem, health consequences, infectious diseases prevention, drugs in public places of entertainment, impact of criminal law, therapy, solutions in prison conditions, students' opinions survey. The survey searched for secondary-school-students' attitudes to the risks of drug abuse and investigated their personal ways to cope with those risks.
Treatment programs with drug addicted persons in Czech prisons

Drug addiction presents a problem that negatively influences the whole society. If the drug addicted person is imprisoned, it is important to solve this situation. There are various treatment programs that are performed in the drugless zones or specialized wards. Providing of substitution treatments and harm reduction programs is at the beginning in Czech prisons. The non-governmental organizations associated with Association of non-governmental organization in department of Drug service in prisons provide support and help too. Prison service of The Czech Republic makes efforts to eliminate drug abuse through anti-drug measures like drug monitoring. I devoted to treatment programs, anti-drug measures, service provided by non-governmental organizations and drug abuse in prisons in the first theoretical part of my work. In the second one, I described these issues more specifically through interview with specialists from prisons and non-governmental organization.
