Educational program in botanical garden using QR codes
Malúšová, Klára ; Novotný, Petr (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
This bachelor thesis covers the history as well as the current state of the Bečovská Botanical Garden. It concisely presents natural sciences and the possibility of incorporating field trips and educational programmes into elementary school education. The theoretical part also describes the educational activities offered by the Bečovská Botanical Garden. The following chapters cover the process of creating such educational activities as well as the activity sheets. In Chapter 5, QR codes are introduced, including their history and their use in non-education fields. Finally, QR codes in education are described in connection with the effort to individualize the education processes. The practical part of this thesis focusses on the education programme created by the author for the lower-secondary school pupils as the Botanical Garden does not offer a programme for this age group. The created programme is based on using QR codes when exploring the Bečovská Botanical Garden. It consolidates and expands the pupils' knowledge and puts the newly acquired skills into practice. The programme also requires demonstrating observation skills and the ability to use a map to navigate an unknown area. The activity sheets, which are part of the appendix, have been created to complement the programme. The education...
Use of Botanical Garden of faculty of science Charles University in Prague in teaching biology and natural history
Nováková, Eliška ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Radka (referee)
This diploma thesis is focusing on use of Botanical garden of Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague by teachers as a destination for class field trips. Teachers use this garden with different objectives and different intensity. This diploma thesis provides a summary of this using by the processing of the survey, which took place in elementary school teachers and high school teachers. This work is testing the following hypotheses: 1. Teachers with length of practice above twenty years use the field trip less than teachers with length of practice under twenty years. 2. Men use guided tours more than women. 3. High school teachers use geopark for tour more than elementary school teachers. 4. Teachers with length of practice above twenty years visit gardens other than Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague and the Botanical Garden in Prague Troja less than teachers with length of practice under twenty years. The thesis summarizes basic information about the field trip as an organizational form. The thesis also deals with the Botanical Garden of faculty of science Charles University in Prague, its collections, history, and possibilities of using in schools.
Ukázková zahrada prezentující přírodní hodnoty Národního parku Podyjí
Kmecová, Kateřina
This study describes the issues of botanical gardens showing natural values of protected areas. The potential of gardens is growing bigger same as the tourism and the interest for protected areas. Aim of this study is to propose a botanical garden in Čížov, National Park (NP) Podyjí, which will present distinctive natural communities of NP. Theoretical part of the study encompass problematics of existing botanical gardens presenting natural communities. The communities are evaluated and compared with their wild counterparts. The proposal of botanical garden is based on the requirements of NP Podyjí, analyses of natural and cultural values. Focus is given mainly on families with children. The garden main goals are education, recreation and also preservation and science. The communities will hold regional gene pool, the development will be evaluated. Information system will contain stories rather than facts, so visitors can learn effectively and easily more about preservation, history and nature itself. Last part is focused on problematics of establishment and maintenance of natural wild communities. Different ways of establishment are showed. Biological, technical, legal and ethical aspects are taken into account.
Design of sustainable urban structure of the 21st century in the Czech Republic
Boháčová, Denisa ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis is solving the design of a sustainable urban structure of the 21st century in Brno, in the area of Kasárna in Černá pole. The thesis is trying to create a neighborhood that would serve not only to the needs of the millennials, but of every generation. It is trying to build a city for the people. I am designing the new development as a lively, diverse and flexible neighborhood which considers the history of the area. I am conserving its rectangular shape in the urban footprint. I am designing a city with clearly defined public spaces. I am opening the neighborhood to the public and therefor allow it to newly connect with neighboring districts. The goal of the design is to create a modern neighborhood that will function as a new subcenter of the city of Brno.
Role of phenology in differentiation of plant niches: quantitative and comparative approach using a large set of species
Huang, Lin ; Herben, Tomáš (advisor) ; van Kleunen, Mark (referee) ; Dostál, Petr (referee)
Niche differentiation is the most recognized species coexistence mechanism, of which, the temporal differentiation of species, i.e. phenological differentiation has gained an increasing interest of ecologists. However, as an important dimension of phenology, the phenology of growth has drawn relatively few attentions due to the lack of sufficient phenological data. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to examine potential role of temporal differentiation of plant growth patterns in plant coexistence. I first collected data on growth phenology of 381 perennial herbs in the Botanical Garden of Charles University in Prague within one growing season (in 2015). Using this database, I addressed the general patterns of growth phenology among perennial herbs. I distinguished two contrasting growth patterns: (1) species with early peak growth had high standardized growth rates in contrast to late species, reflecting the survival under forest canopy, where species are selected to grow early and fast before the development of tree canopy which restricts their size; (2) tall species showed later peak growth than short species, associating with (asymmetric) competition for light in open habitats, where the main selection factor is for tall stature, which cannot be attained early in the season. Then, by linking...

Svobodová, Simona ; Skýbová, Jana (advisor) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
This diploma thesis is dealing with the theme of use of the Botanic Garden in Teplice to teach Science - especially Botany at lower-secondary school. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the first part I'm dealing with mapping of botanic gardens in the Czech republic - mainly focusing on the Botanic Garden in Teplice. In the second part I'm searching for theoretic information to create my own worksheets, and explanation of the teaching method - excursion according to the available specialized didactic literature. In the third part I'm dealing with the analysis of questionnaire and according to the availably gained information with the creation of my own worksheets. After the questionnaire there were nine worksheets with the concrete teaching methodology of botany and methodological worksheets. Afterwards the worksheet called ¨Excursion itself¨ was verified. Altogether nine worksheets with the methodological outcomes were created. The pupils were filling in the worksheets during the excursion and then the pupils' questionnaire was made to gain the feedback.
