Premature birth as a cause of communication disabilities

The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of a speech therapy. It deals with premature birth in connection with communication disorder. The first part describes premature birth, mental, motor and speech development of premature babies which will be compared with the development of intact children. The diploma thesis also analyzes level and possibilities of care for premature babies with communication disorder. The second part deals with case studies and interviews using qualitative research methods. The research involved respondents aged 4 to 6 years who were born before the 34th week of pregnancy and their parents. Influence of media on speech development in children

This diploma thesis discusses the possible influences that media especialy television has on langugage development in pre-school children. In first part we talk about speech development, speech difficulties, history of media, studies about influence of watching TV on the personality of the child. Practical part examines influence of watching TV on child and his speech.
Logopedic intervention by children from multilingual environment

1 ABSTRACT The present work deals with the development of speech child educated in a multilingual environment, resp. with children bilingualism and any difficulties that may accompany this development. The aim of this work is to investigate the effect of the action of multiple languages in the acquisition of speech and the possibility of child therapy of multi-lingual children. The theoretical basis is based on the analysis of scientific literature on the topic. Includes basic terms, follows the development of the child's speech in connection with multilingual environment, the type and manner learning another language. It deals with the problems of these children in speech, specifics and possible redress procedures in the context of logopedic intervention. The practical part consists of qualitative research in the form of case studies, using the method of interview, observation and analysis of results of operations. Special Educational Intervention in Children with Specific Language Impairment in the Kindergarten

This Masters thesis focuses on issues of Specific Language Impairment - SLI of children of pre-school age. It monitors and evaluates development of their communication and motor skills during their time in kindergarten. The theoretical part focuses on defining basic terms which relate to communication and communication disorder with the emphasis on SLI. The psychomotor and communicational development of child from birth to entering school is described too. Also how this all affected creating the Framework Educational Programme for preschool education. The aim of the empirical part was to observe four children with SLI during their attendance at a pre-school for children with specific needs. Speech and psychomotor development of these children and its changes in connection to their teachers' intervention was observed. Part of the research included interviews with children's parents and those are also evaluated. The survey was done by the qualitative method. We get four case histories. At the end was evaluated the aims of the survey and answered questions asked and summarized the results of my investigation.
Speech development in children growing up in a bilingual environment

A n o t a t i o n This thesis deals with the development of speech in children growing up in a bilingual environment. The aim is to explain the basic concepts related to bilingualism, describe in detail strategies of bilingual education and describe the specifics of speech development of children growing up in a bilingual environment. I would like to broaden the community understanding about bilingualism and summarize new ideas and information for parents who are considering a bilingual or multilingual education. Theoretical knowledge is used in the practical part of this thesis, which examines and compares the differences in the speech development of children growing up with two or more languages against children who grow up with only one mother tongue.
Development of communication abilities in premature infants

The presented thesis deals with the topic of development of communication abilities in preterm infants from the perspective of special education. The thesis is for clarity divided into several parts. In the first part of the text the issue of incidence of premature births in the Czech Republic is discussed, following subsections are devoted to the definition and distribution of characteristics bonding with immaturity of child and approach selected health problems associated with postpartum adaptation and subsequent psychomotor development of child. The following chapter which analyzes the system of care for premature newborns in the Czech Republic focuses on two forms of care, acute care and followed-up. Next part has been devoted to issue of premature infants from logopedical perspective and describes the physiological process of development of communication abilities of child and based on current knowledge, especially foreign research, analyzes the peculiarities of speech development of preterm infants. The last and key part of the work, based on case studies, analyzes the specifics of development of communication abilities of four originally extremely and very preterm children of multiple pregnancies in the background of the their overall psychomotor development.
