K. I. Dientzenhofer in the service of Society of Jesus Abstract The Diploma Thesis aims to map the famous Jesuit religious buildings arising in the Czech kingdom by the hands of Kilian Ignac Dientzenhofer, as well as some smaller foundations or now-defunct constructions. Firstly it is the rural residences in Liběšice and the completion of the construction in Tuchoměřice or the dispensary in Smíchov, which has been demolished in 1930. Furthermore, the Holy Mountain Steps, which were only partially implemented according to the Dientzenhofer proposal. The Thesis also includes constructions where the architect's authorship is not proven, such as the Chapel of Sts. Archangel Michael in Kozinec and Chapel of Sts. Cross in Středokluky. An important part is also the effort to put these buildings into the context of the work of the younger Dientzenhofer and to get a closer look at the perception of their clients, including the typology of the architectural order within the function. St. Nikodemos Hagioreites and sources of his tought

In the diploma thesis "St. Nikodemus Hagioreites and the sources of his thought" I focus on the writings and views of this saint, which some scholars do not consider as Orthodox and find there an influence of the West. For example, professor Yannaras finds in the work of St. Nicodemus the influences of the Trident Council, of Enlightenment and Pietism. These and other influences, according to the researchers, are reflected in the writings of the saint. His writings Invisible Combat and Spiritual Exercises are also problematical. These are revised books of Roman Catholic spiritual literature. It is a matter of exploring who translated these handbooks and how they came into the hands of the saint. In my work I gradually attend to the possible influences on the work of St. Nicodemus, to the writings considered to be influenced by the West, some of the saint's views and their comparison with the views of other theologians and peripheral to the hesychastic movement. Very important Nicodemus' issue is the question of frequent Communion. Is it really about trying to restore the practice of the early Church? In each chapter there is the task to provide briefly basic information and to outline issues related to the topic.

Holy Mountain at Příbram in the interwar period "Mary Castle" defending the Catholic faith in Bohemia? Analysis of Holy Mountain's journal from the years 1922 - 1932

In my work I deal with the place of pilgrimage of the Virgin Mary on the Holy Mountain in Příbram in the interwar period. In the newly established Republic of Czechoslovakia, tense relations between Church and State has prevailed. Even iconoclastic acts are documented from that time. My assumption is that the Holy Mountain functioned as a place that helped to bring together believers, unite Catholics, and restore the faith. A catholic group called Matice Svatohorská was founded to focus on repairing extensive grounds and spreading the awareness of the Holy Mountain and the cult of the Virgin Mary through a published journal. Through an analysis of this journal I want to capture the resources that Catholic leaders used in consolidating and expanding the Catholic Faith in Bohemia. Through the analysis of the journal I want to know how the magazine reflected the relationship between church and state and what additional information reflects. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Ordinarium by Karel Briza and Mistake in Interpretation in Prague's Churches

The main topic of the bachelor thesis is the analysis of Ordinarium by Karel Bříza. The part about life and work of Karel Bříza is followed by short historical-theological explanation of texts from Ordinarium Missae. The study itself consists of music component analysis. Final chapter deals with recordings of Bříza's Ordinarium from churches in Prague. The mail goal is to describe common mistakes which are frequently repeated, find out whether the organists follow prescribed accompaniment and to evaluate quality of music in Prague's churches.

Liturgy and popular piety at Marian Shrine. Svatá Hora, Litmanová The presented thesis deals with the liturgy and popular piety, as it is realised at the Marian shrine. By mapping the liturgical life I am looking for answer, whether the relationship between liturgy and popular piety is beneficial and in line with the recommendations contained in the Directory on popular piety and the liturgy of the year 2007. About Marian veneration in the Church testifies a great number of Marian feasts that are celebrated during the liturgical year and the popularity of pilgrimages. The introduction discusses the general phenomenon of pilgrimage, spirituality and the importance of pilgrimages. It is mentioned the role of Mary and her special status in the history of salvation. I also deal with the liturgical life and the popular piety at the place of pilgrimage. There are presented two important shrines - Svatá Hora at Pribram of Latin rite and modern shrine in Slovakia at Litmanová of Byzantine rite with regard to their history and tradition. It covers the liturgical program, both on weekdays and in particular on major pilgrimage feast days in both places. Beginnings of Holy Mountain as a Place of Pilgrimage

This thesis attends to the Holy Mountain - a place of pilgrimage, mainly to its origins. We can observe the process of an ordinary and uninteresting place becoming the most well- known place of pilgrimage consecrated to the Virgin Mary in Bohemia. At first we go in for general overview of places of pilgrimage that will help us become more familiar with this broad issue, we mention e.g. locations of places of pilgrimage and pilgrims' motivation. Later we focus on the Holy Mountain. We follow its becoming a famous place of pilgrimage in the first centuries of its existence. We allude to miracles that took place here as well as important personages who had crucial influence on development of this place of pilgrimage. We are concerned with first pilgrims coming here, their motives and by the same token we aim at gradual rebuilding of the chapel and later construction work that led to a formation of a beautiful and monumental complex of buildings. Lastly we briefly go through the 20th century approach towards places of pilgrimage and the literary approach towards them in the last decades.

Marian Atlas in Svatá Hora

Marian Atlas in Svatá Hora by Příbram The thesis concerns the Marian atlas in Svatá Hora. Compared to other places, it has a plastic form: angels standing on a balustrade of an elevated terrace hold in their arms a cartouche depicting Marian statues and images in Bohemia. In its first part, the thesis is dealing with piousness, veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary and pilgrimages in the Baroque time. The information about Marian atlases by Wilhelm Gumppenberg and Bohuslav Balbín issued in printed form are summed up in the second part of the thesis. Thirdly, there are described other Marian atlases in Bohemia having diverse forms of art. The Marian atlas in Svatá Hora is the core topic of the fourth part of the thesis: its role and importance are explained on the basis of the Marian atlas itself, of the context of Svatá Hora as a place of pilgrimage and of the literature written in the Baroque time. Fifthly, there are presented statues and images of the Blessed Virgin Mary depicted in the cartouches of the Marian atlas in Svatá Hora, i.e. their origin and model and pilgrimages and veneration connected with them in the Baroque time. The objective of this bachelor thesis are the findings what is the awareness of pupils at elementary schools of the baroque architecture and of the pilgrimage place Saint Mountain, too. The literary comparison of the accessible sources related to this theme and to the analysis of the particular wholes of the baroque architecture in Saint Mountain near Příbram went off in the theoretical part, which served for the basis for the research part. I elaborated the questionnaire inquiry about the knowledge of pupils from 6th and 9th classes at elementary schools of the baroque architecture and of the place Saint Mountain in this part.
