Permanentní opakování komunálních voleb: zablokované obce?
Krpálková, Soňa ; Jüptner, Petr (advisor) ; Čmejrek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Bubeníček, Václav (referee)
The submitted dissertation includes the issue of repeated holding of new elections to municipal councils leading to the blocking of a municipality. Although the topic is not new, it has so far been given minimal space in the examination of Czech municipal politics. The dissertation can thus be understood as the first comprehensive study devoted to the given issue. In its theoretical part, the thesis contains a large amount of data revealing the extent of the problem and its legislative background. Part of the theoretical and contextual anchoring is also an extensive European comparison of the legislation affecting the holding of elections after the decrease in the number of council members. The empirical part is then focused on the specific reasons for the repeated holding of new elections in selected municipalities of the research sample, along with their subsequent categorization and the creation of a typology of blocked municipalities, including a thorough description of individual types of municipalities with examples. The dissertation presents a possible legislative solution to the whole situation and critically evaluates the recommendations of the Ministry of the Interior applied.

Netolická, Karolína ; Kulhavá, Miluše (advisor) ; Šimonová, Daniela (referee)
The bachelor's thesis titled "Public point of view at sexual education in the Czech Republic" focuses on assessing the implementation of sexual education in the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part, I first provide an overview of specialized terminology and then focus on sexual education itself. I discuss the historical development of sexual education and its individual components. I then shift my focus to the current situation of sexual education in the Czech Republic, including the recommendations for education according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MŠMT). My thesis addresses not only sexual education in schools but also within families and through external organizations. The research part analyses an anonymous non-standardized questionnaire, which received responses from 510 respondents in total. I set five specific research goals: to determine whether sexual education is considered important from the public's perspective, to find out the public's experience with sexual education in elementary schools, whether it was implemented, and whether it was sufficient. Additionally, my aim was to find out who should primarily conduct sexual education and how it should be...
How Does Motherhood Influence Drinking Habits? An Investigation of Alcohol Consumption Among Women in the Czech Republic.
Urbanová, Denisa ; Votápková, Jana (advisor) ; Kúdeľová, Anna (referee)
This thesis investigates the influence of motherhood on alcohol consumption among female residents of the Czech Republic while focusing on the underly- ing effects of women's social roles. Although there are legitimate reasons to believe that motherhood leads to increased alcohol consumption, evidence also suggests that acquiring a role as a mother results in the opposite effect. By utilizing 2019 data from the European Health Interview Survey and employing logistic regressions, we uncovered that Czech women's drinking behavior is in- deed influenced by acquired social roles whose effects vary across age groups. While motherhood is protective for alcoholism in younger women, older women with more children or multiple social roles are more prone to alcoholism. 1
Insults and Violence in the Czech Parliament
Deml, Ondřej ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Jágr, David (referee)
8 Abstract The thesis is focused on the issue of insults and violence in the Czech Parliament. The introductory part discusses foreign research on this topic and describes the Czech historical context concerning insults and violence in the legislative body. The thesis uses content analysis to identify cases of both phenomena in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate between 2006 and 2022. The resulting data are used to answer the following research questions: (1) What utterances or actions result in Deputies and Senators committing an insult in Parliament? (2) Under what conditions is an insult used in Parliament? (3) What is the response of the Mandate and Immunity Committee to the violent incidents? Based on research, it can be concluded that insults in parliament most often take the form of statements that question moral integrity. The paper likewise identifies three basic conditions (the ability to use insults in connection with personal predispositions, motivation, perceived benefits) without which insults in Parliament would likely not occur. The text also discusses the response of the Mandate and Immunity Committee to violence in Parliament, where the Committee punished one violent incident to the maximum extent allowed, but the two remaining cases were outside its jurisdiction.
Integration policy in relation to war refugees from Ukraine from the perspective of the theory of the Social Construction of Target populations
Cyž, Jan ; Dobiášová, Karolína (advisor) ; Jelínková, Marie (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the integration of Ukrainian war refugees from the beginning of the war in Ukraine (February 2022) to the end of 2023. The aim of this thesis is to identify the transformation of policy design in the field of integration policy, which has been implemented towards the target population of Ukrainian war refugees, with whose mass influx the Czech Republic has had to deal with from the beginning. The thesis tries to identify the influence of the resulting policy design according to the proposed tools and narrative statements of members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic towards the target population of Ukrainian war refugees on the basis of the application of the Theory of Social Construction of Target Populations. The research is carried out in the form of a case study in which the primary source of data is in the form of stenographic records from the Chamber of Deputies and these records are analysed afterwards. From the results of the thesis, certain thematic narrative frameworks are evident and a positive social construction (human rights and economic framework) or a negative social construction (security) towards the target population of Ukrainian war refugees is attributed there on the basis of which policy design was enforced in the...
The motive of choosing the "lesser evil" in the first round of the Election of the President of the Czech Republic 2023 and its impact on the result
Vaníček, Jakub ; Stauber, Jakub (advisor) ; Brunclík, Miloš (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on strategic voting in the first round of the presidential election of the Czech Republic in 2023. In the theoretical part, the author describes the basic concepts of strategic voting and the psychological influence of electoral systems on voter's decision- making. The main goal of the thesis is to discover the extent to which strategic voting occurred in the first round of the presidential election in the Czech Republic in 2023. For this purpose, the Naše společnost - 2022 listopad dataset processed by CVVM Sociologického ústavu Akademie věd ČR is analysed in the practical part. The analysed dataset consists of 901 respondents, the share of strategic voters was measured on an adjusted sample comprised of 492 respondents. In this sample, a share of 5,89% strategic voters has been identified. This result has been recognised as comparable with the results of foreign research on this topic. The analysis indicates that strategic voters consider the advance of their chosen candidate to the second round of the election to be of similar importance as sincere voters. From the available data, Andrej Babiš has been identified as the candidate who received a higher number of votes in the first round of the 2023 presidential election thanks to strategic voting. The thesis outlines...
