HOW TO MOVE ON WHEN THE STATION IS GONE?
Valíček, Viktor ; Illéš, Juraj (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
HOW TO MOVE ON WHEN THE STATION IS GONE? "I'll tell you how. It will be pretty crappy!" (visitor to the exhibition of the same name as the pre-graduate analytical project, 2024) The purpose of the urbanistic-architectural inquiry entitled "How to move on when the station is gone?" is particularly focused on the scenario where several historically protected buildings of significant urban importance in Brno lose their function due to the relocation of a major railway junction. That means, for the preservation of a functional city structure, it is necessary to find a new and equally significant utilization. Especially considering the location and real as well as abstract significance of these buildings. A crucial aspect is the location at the interface between the newly emerging city district in a brownfield area without identity and the oldest historic city center. Former structures associated with the railway aspire to become new significant urban landmarks capable of mediating the soul and identity of Brno to the new district. Connection is the main theme introduced by the urbanistic concept for the conversion of the area, developed in collaboration with the atelier colleagues Šimon Mareček and Kateřina Jálová. The study also builds upon the ideas of the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno, especially the concept of completing the green urban circuit (following the example of Vienna's Ringstrasse) and the idea of revealing the historic so-called Ferdinand Viaduct. The area is further divided into three consecutive sections (subtitles of three diploma theses). This work primarily focuses on the conversion of the released Amerika building and the newly designed urban space 'underlining the dominant feature of Brno - the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul'. "If a book of unfinished pages lies in front of us, its structure is already inscribed in the essence of the work itself." (Prof. Ivan Koleček, 2010) Amerika possesses an amazing genius loci and great potential to become a significant landmark for its surroundings. The "book of unfinished pages" of the former warehouse building has a structure so distinct and valuable that its violent rewriting would border on sacrilege. The building needs to be approached with extreme sensitivity, highlighting its qualities and adapting the space to new functions with necessary delicate interventions to avoid the destruction of the "structure of the work itself". The project aims to improve access to the building, creating connections with the adjacent park to the east through the revealed Ferdinand Viaduct and with the future city street with multifunctional buildings to the west. Better accessibility of the building is ensured by a level connection leading through a symbolic gate from the newly designed houses opening onto the proposed square beneath Petrov (the Cathedral of Saint Peter and Paul) to the main urban transport hub.
The Renovation of the Main station in Brno
Šiprová, Lucie ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor) ; Novotný, Miloslav (advisor)
This thesis deals with restoration and repurposing of main train station building in Brno. It consists of Building permit documentation and part of Documentation for execution of the project, both of which are based on architectonic study created as part of course AG33 - Architectural Design Studio III. during previous studies. The building is situated in Brno city centre, district Brno – Střed, cadastral area (municipality of) Město Brno (610003). The project assumes that the main train station will be moved ca 800 meters to the south, leaving the current train station building unused. The project incorporates a conceptual study of a new purpose for the historic building and nearby railway junction, including its interconnection with near surroundings. Detailed solution describes a new hotel building, which will replace current newest wing of the train station. The main idea of the transformation is to keep as much of the historic building and valuable structures as possible, avoid increasing the building footprint and bring new life to the building and city centre. The attractiveness of the site will be enhanced by a new park located in the area currently occupied by the railway junction. The park will be connected to the 2nd floor of the Tesco shopping centre and Vaňkovka shopping gallery by a pedestrian bridge. Parking capacity will be provided by a new underground car park built below the railway junction. Additionally, modern version of the original tower above the main hall, which was destroyed during World War II, will be built. The new hotel building, as well as all repairs and changes (new tower) will follow a modern style, while respecting and enhancing the historic Art Nouveau building and genius loci of the place.

Malínková, Valerie ; Muroň, Ivo (referee) ; Ležatka, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the restoration of a castle in Velké Němčice. The thesis builds on an architectural study carried out in the AG033 course of the Restoration of Monuments Studio. The task of the thesis is to create a complete project for the appropriate restoration and reconstruction of the castle and to propose its new utilization. At the same time, the thesis focuses on the solution of the castle's immediate surroundings. The object of the solution will be designed as a socially cultural object with administrative functions. The castle should serve as a new town hall, and in accordance with this, the following rooms will be created in the castle: a ceremonial hall, information center, mayor's office, secretary's office, registry office, accountant's office, archive, library, club room, refreshment facility, and interactive room. To achieve the implementation of the new operation in the castle, the correct restoration of the historical object is necessary. Using surveys and historical sources, I examine the architectural values and construction of the building. I strive to preserve historically significant layers, remove intrusive modern elements, and return the object its original expression. With the help of new technologies, I also strive to preserve the building for future generations. I propose minimum use of modern structures and elements, and therefore mainly focus on proper reconstruction and restoration.

Bujačková, Mariana ; Schnapková, Radka (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
The base of Bachelor Thesis is the architectural study wich was done in summer semester of the third year of the bachelor´s studies. The topic of this study was rocontruction and new use of chateau in town of Zlín. Until recently, the build was just restaurant and Museum of Southeastern Moravia. Now the Zlín chateau offers new restaurant with own small kitchen, cafe, wine cellar, learning centre for people of all ages, offices for beginning and small businessman, there is also small library with playroom for children and especially gallery in attic space with observation towers. Reconstruction does not alter the historic character of the chateau, therefore I want to use here just mild colours and simple materials like glass, concrete, metal and wood. From the new constructions we have got here the most outstanding ones, like four corner observation towers, new elevator in concrete tube and glass roof above courtyard.

Malečková, Kateřina ; Hrabec, Josef (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor) ; Kolář, Radim (advisor)
The Bachelor’s Thesis is based on the architectural study which was done in the winter semester of the third year of my bachelor’s studies. Theme of Bachelor´s Thesis is Renewal of the train station Ústí nad Orlicí. The goal was to create a new way how to use this building, which is on a list of immovable cultural monument since 27. 8. 2010. The functional role was replaced by new building. Because of distant location of the building from centre of Ústí nad Orlicí, there was a goal to create new function which is not in the vicinity of city and it should be attractive for people. The Bachelor’s Thesis respect a value of this building and new suitable function. The solution is a family centre with spaces for workout of mother with kids or for these two groups separately, also playroom and reading room for children and workshop area. Another function is a café in thematic style with an adjoining multi-purpose hall, occasional accommodation and administrative purpose. It is also profitable for owner of this building. The owner is Oustecké nádraží s.r.o. - a company formed predominantly by the inhabitants of the town Ústí nad Orlicí, who have deserved to prevent the planned demolition of the building. The architectural study also suggests the modification of the area on the west side of the building, which will make the surrounding area more attractive.

Bělovský, Michal ; Keith, Petr (referee) ; Keith, Petr (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
The basis of this Bachelor Thesis is the architectural study which was done in the summer semester of the third year of my bachelor’s studies. The topic of this architectural study was the reconstruction, rebuilding and restoration of former farmhouse in Repechy. The aim of the study was to find a suitable urban, shape and functional solution. The original idea of the owner was to create the pension as the outcome. The architectural proposal respects owner’s requirements, yet it also adds other supporting functions to create attractive place for rest, recreation and sport. The main idea of the study thus becomes the interconnection of accommodation, entertainment, recreation and education. I decided to design the object in a way so that is suitable for both couples and small families, as well as for larger groups and units. Based on this, I divided the building into three main parts. The first part is situated in the retained part of the original farmhouse in memory of the history of this place. From the functional point of view it serves as a reception, owner accommodation and occasional staff accommodation. The second part of the building is used to accommodate guests. It is an extension of double-bedded and double rooms with own hallway and en suite facilities. The third part serves as the dining room for the guests. There is a kitchen with facilities and multi-purpose space to be found. Design and the shape solution of the farmhouse are based on the rural structure character and tries to fit in this style.
