Emotive aspects of communication on Facebook in the context of a war
Groschupová, Veronika ; Zápotocký, Jan (advisor) ; Švelch, Jaroslav (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of expressing emotions on Facebook in the context of war. It first explains the issue of the terms "affect" and "emotion" and, based on their definition, explains why they should not be confused. The paper also discusses how emotions affect Facebook content or the emotional experience of its users both during and after use. It also names the emotions that people feel during war. What can affect their experiences, and how politicians can exploit them for their own benefit. It describes how emotions can be expressed on Facebook and, for contrast, describes the principles that make people express emotions naturally. There is also mentioned the issue of the supposed evolutionary development of emotions, which, although favoured by Paul Ekman, is questioned by many scientists. The practical part of the thesis offers qualitative research based on semi-structured interviews with students from Prague. Based on open coding, four theories answer the respondents' emotional experience of posts thematically related to the war. It also explains how these students process their experience, i.e. whether they stay on social media or do other activities. The nature of their responses and whether they take place more on or off social media is also mapped. Finally, the research...
Working with emotions in the development of reading from the point of view of teachers and pupils of the 1st grade
Jirátová, Pavlína ; Laufková, Veronika (advisor) ; Ronková, Jolana (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the mediation of emotional literacy through work with a literary text through the eyes of pupils and teachers of the first grade of primary school. For the purpose of the work, five lessons were created based on the principle of the three-phase E-U-R learning model and focused on working with emotions, which were subsequently implemented and reflected upon. To evaluate the lessons, self-evaluation, and formative evaluation were used, which provided qualitative approaches to feedback from the visiting teacher and the students (both by interview method and content analysis of their products). These were semi-structured group interviews with pupils and individual interviews with the teacher. The lessons were implemented, reflected on, and evaluated at a primary school in the third year of 22 pupils (10 girls, 12 boys) during September/October 2023. Reading lessons oriented towards the development of emotional literacy improved the pupils' ability to express their feelings, influenced their attitudes and thinking, and fostered mutual respect for diversity. These lessons can be a source of inspiration for other educators. KEYWORDS emotions, emotional literacy, emotional intelligence, the 1st grade of elementary school
The problem of education and upbringing in Martha C. Nussbaum
Valíčková, Klaudie ; Rybák, David (advisor) ; Pelcová, Naděžda (referee)
This research work deals with the theoretical approach and ideas of the philosopher Martha Nussbaum in the fields of education and upbringing. The author presents a revolutionary perspective based on the concept of 'capabilities.' She defines it as a set of fundamental human abilities and possibilities that enable individuals to lead a full life and participate in society. This capability is not only about economic success but also includes emotional and social aspects. The work focuses not only on the context of the educational theory itself but subsequently analyzes key aspects, including the importance of emotions and moral guidance as integral components of the educational process. Furthermore, the work offers a critical view of Martha Nussbaum's theory, examining practical challenges in its implementation in real educational environments. It also analyzes critical opinions and controversies related to this theory, including discussions about the universality of the concept of capabilities and its suitability for different socio-cultural contexts. Among other things, it focuses on a critical evaluation of this approach with the aim of stimulating further reflective debate on the significance and prospects of education in the 21st century society. Creating a Python-based Automated System for Recognizing Emotions from Facial Expressions.
Zima, Samuel ; Malik, Aamir Saeed (referee) ; Hussain, Yasir (advisor)
Táto práca skúma rozpoznávanie výrazu tváre (angl. facial expression recognition - FER) pomocou hlbokého učenia so zameraním na použitie v zariadeniach s obmedzenou pamäťou a výpočtovými zdrojmi. Začína výskumom emócií a výrazov tváre z psychologického, biologického a sociologického hľadiska.
Expressing identity and emotions in Natasha Holme's diaries
NOVÁKOVÁ, Eliška

The aim of this thesis is to investigate her obsessive desire to capture every detail of her life and to outline the contrast that arises between her inner world, imprisoned within the pages of her diaries, and the reality that reigned outside these pages.
Christmas in Children's Home
KOSTRHOUNOVÁ, Eliška
The bachelor thesis deals with Christmas in children's homes. The theoretical part introduces the children's homes in more detail and also takes into account the factors that influence the experience of a child who is placed in institutional care. It also describes the traditions, holidays and symbols that are part of Advent and Christmas in the Czech Republic. The research part was developed through semi-structured interviews with staff of children's homes. The aim was to find out the following: What specific traditions do children's homes observe? How does the staff communicate with the children about the existence of Christ Child? Is there increased contact with the family? Whether children go home for Christmas? What is the course of Christmas Eve? What organizations provide gifts to the orphanages? It appears that the teaching staff make an effort to ensure that the children are not deprived of anything during Advent and Christmas. In the children's homes, various traditions are observed, the homes are decorated and presents are brought, as in the most families, by Christ Child. The only difference is when the festive dinner takes place. Due to some children going home, Christmas is celebrated 2 times. Gifts to the orphanages are provided by many organizations, but also by individuals. The work is beneficial to a wide range of readers and offers a partially different perspective on the celebration of holidays that most people experience within the family circle.
