Web browser for seniors
Nguyen, Tuan Ninh ; Kubánková, Anna (referee) ; Komosný, Dan (advisor)
The thesis deals with the design and implementation of a basic web browser that is adapted for seniors in the age group of 90 years and more. It is one of the applications of the operating system for the elderly, which is used to facilitate the work on the computer. The web browser is developed in Python. It allows text enlargement, web page display, voice assistance and protection against fraudulent sites (phishing). The browser is easy to use. Every event in the browser is logged to an activity record with different levels for security risk assessment. Sending the entered information to the guardian of the elderly person is also implemented in the web browser, which occurs if the senior launches a fraudulent web page. This increases the protection of seniors from fraudulent attacks. The results of this work are published in the GitHub repository.
The issue of falls of seniors in healthcare facilities
BUCHOVÁ, Nikola
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of elderly falls in a healthcare facility. The aim of this thesis was to map the causes of falls in the elderly. Furthermore, the aim was to identify risk factors, describe the consequences of falls, and identify nurses' preventive measures in preventing senior falls in a healthcare facility. The theoretical part describes aging, then the theoretical part mentions geriatric syndromes, different causes of falls and risk factors of falls. The next chapter describes falls prevention, where compensatory aids are included and described. The last chapter briefly described patient education in a healthcare facility. The second part of this thesis is the empirical part. The empirical part was prepared by means of qualitative research, using the method of semi-structured interview. In the research, 2 interviews were created, in one interview 12 questions were created for nurses and in the other interview 15 questions were created for hospitalised patients. Seven nurses and seven hospitalized patients participated in the interviews. Data were processed using open coding, by the pencil and paper method. Five categorization groups were created for the interviewed nurses and four categorization groups for the hospitalized patients. The results in the empirical section show that the most common causes of falls include inappropriate footwear, wet floors, poor lighting and poor use of guardrails (barriers). Risk factors most commonly include associated patient illnesses, age, change of environment, poor accessibility of signalling equipment and use of medication. Regarding sequelae after falls, hematomas, lacerations and pain were the most common. Preventive measures for nurses are most commonly signalling devices, grab rails in bathroom, handrails in corridors. Other preventive measures include, appropriate footwear, proper lighting, bed adjustments, and the use of bed rails (barriers).

It was important to compare the position of the professional groups of the interprofessional team, from the data collected. The data provided by the observation method were also supplemented. Interpretative phenomenological analysis using Atlas.ti 9 was used to evaluate the provided data. The research was done in August 2023. The secured limits and barriers to the work of the interprofessional team are the benefit of the research. These provide insight into the issues of interprofessional teamwork, it means building an interprofessional team and, above all, its sustainability and functionality. Lack of staff, lack of coordination and communication, insufficient knowledge of the nature of the interprofessional team, insufficient management support, not enough harmonization, uncorrected position of professional groups, low emotional presence within the team were found. The main barriers were staff turnover, inconsistency in staff thinking, lack of shared goals, burnout syndrome, low external and inner motivation of staff. Limits and barriers to the work of the interprofessional team can be strategically processed. Through this processing, the management of the organization can further fulfill its mission and goals in the form of work with the capacity of human resources. The list of limits and barriers gained by this research can also be a confrontational material for other organizations.

Zootherapy in Nursing Homes
KADLECOVÁ, Andrea
The presented diploma thesis deals with zootherapy as a form of therapeutic intervention in homes for the elderly. I chose this topic because of personal enrichment with a theoretical basis for the practical side of things that I see every day in my job. The aim of the thesis is to find out how zootherapy is integrated into the complex care of users in homes for the elderly in the context of coordinated rehabilitation. The theoretical part of this work shows the method of implementing zootherapy into the system of coordinated rehabilitation in homes for the elderly. It also outlines the training of therapists as well as possible barriers for workers to implement zootherapy. In the practical part of the thesis, a research investigation is described, which shows the concept of zootherapy in South Bohemian homes for the elderly. Out of a total of 34 homes approached, 28 homes participated in the research survey, of which 19 described their experiences with zootherapy. The research questions were divided into the following areas: socio-demographic questions, questions determining the course of zootherapy, questions determining the benefits of zootherapy, questions determining the method of keeping documentation, questions determining financing, and questions determining the involvement of individual family members of the multidisciplinary team. The semi-structured interview method was chosen for data collection. The results of this investigation are verbally summarized, graphically represented with the help of clear diagrams and enriched with the statements of the informants. The work is designed to bring clear information from the literature as well as practical understanding and can help other facilities in the implementation of zootherapy in the coordinated rehabilitation they already provide.
