Parental burn-out related to early childhood temperament
Wenig, Sandra ; Bajgarová, Zdeňka (advisor) ; Urban, Kamila (referee)
Parental burnout syndrome has been a topic of interest in research since it was first described. It is positively related to parents' perfectionism and neuroticism, and negatively related to the level of support they receive from their partner or other close persons. Parents of young children are more at risk of parental burnout, and early childhood is a period in which the child's temperament is closely related to various parenting variables. A study was conducted to find out whether there is a statistically significant relationship between a child's early temperament and parental burnout syndrome. The study included 336 mothers who cared for infants up to 12 months old (N=89) and toddlers between the age of 1-3 (N=247). They filled out an online questionnaire battery that was assessing parental burnout and their child's temperament. The results showed that toddlers' temperamental characteristics correlated significantly with parental burnout. Specifically, low self-regulation ability (rs=0.34, p<.001) and negative emotionality (rs=0.31, p<.001) of children from 1 to 3 years old explained up to 18.2 % parental burnout. At the same time, in agreement with previous research, it was proven that mothers who take care of a child with specific needs are more at risk of parental burnout syndrome...

Pacáková, Michaela ; Urban, Kamila (referee)
Pacáková, M. (2022). Benefits and difficulties of assisted child handover from the parents' and assistants' point of view. Diploma thesis.. Charles University. Faculty of Arts. The rigorous thesis focuses on the benefits and difficulties of assisted handover of a child between parents who undergo a problematic separation. It follows up a diploma thesis entitled Benefits and difficulties of assisted child handover from the parents' and assistants' point of view (Pacáková, 2022). It extends the diploma thesis in both the theoretical and the empirical parts of the thesis. The content of the literature review section describes the development of family breakdown and the process of transformation of the family as a whole into a new phase. Emphasis is placed on the risk factors and conflicts that arise during the break-up period and on the issue of highly conflictual divorces. It covers the means of trained professionals suited to help such families allowing the resolution of disputes. The focus is on assisted handover. The empirical part of a qualitative nature maps out the central topics related to the service of assisted handover of a child from the parents' and assistants' point of view. Data analysis was processed using the method of thematic analysis based on semi-structured interviews with parents...
School psychologist's work with child witnesses of domestic violence
Landovská, Sabina ; Urban, Kamila (advisor) ; Faberová, Karolína (referee)
The presented bachelor thesis focuses on the recognition of child witnesses of domestic violence by school psychologists and their later work with these children. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces selected aspects of domestic violence, specifically the factors influencing the occurrence of domestic violence, forms of domestic violence and the cycle of domestic violence. It also presents the perspective of the child witness of domestic violence and the impact of this witness on their development from the prenatal period to school age. The last chapter describes the position of the school psychologist, his/her collaboration with the school counseling center and other institutions, and the communication and follow-up work with the child witness of domestic violence. The empirical part presents a proposal for qualitative research, which would take the form of semi-structured interviews with 6-15 respondents from school psychologists. The interviews will explore students' personal experiences of dealing with domestic violence in the school setting, identification of witnesses of domestic violence in school, procedures for dealing with domestic violence, school psychologists' sense of preparedness, and perceived support from school counseling staff. Thematic analysis was selected for data...
Connection between exact personality traits and creative self-efficacy in street and club dancers
Koběrský, Vojtěch ; Urban, Kamila (advisor) ; Vlčková, Karolína (referee)
This bachelor thesis investigates the topic of creative self-beliefs with a focus on creative self- efficacy in relation to specific personality traits in street dance and club dancers. The main aim of this thesis is to identify which personality traits are related to creative self-efficacy and to propose research for the domain of freestyle dancing, where no research of this type has been conducted to date. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the existing knowledge of this research area. Thus, it discusses creative self-efficacy, creative metacognition, and creative self- concept and how to measure these self-beliefs in the domain of creativity. Next, the theoretical section discusses personality traits that are related to creative self-beliefs. The empirical part contains a research design that, once implemented, aims to replicate the results on the association of creative self-efficacy with the Big Five personality traits - specifically extraversion and openness to experience. A further aim of the research is to determine whether creative self- efficacy has an impact on the actual quality of an individual's dance performance. An important part of the research design is to develop a method for measuring the quality of a dance performance. Key words: creative self-efficacy; creative...
Attachment of children in temporary foster care
Králová, Anna ; Urban, Kamila (advisor) ; Širancová, Katarína (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the attachment of children placed in temporary foster care up to 2 years of age. PPPD is a specific form of foster care that has been embedded in our social system for a relatively short period of time, and its impact on attachment has not been studied in the Czech Republic. There is a lack of data on the influence of some factors that may play a role in the attachment formation process in this care (length of care, age of the foster parent, stress of the foster parent, age of the child at placement, risk score of the child). This research aims to help clarify the influence of these factors on attachment development in PPPD. The research is designed as a prospective longitudinal within-subjects design with analyses using the McNemar Bowker test of symmetry and multinomial hierarchical logistic regression. The thesis will use, among others, the laboratory Strange Situation Procedure and the Experiences in Close Relationships - Revised scale. We expect that greater length of PPPD, higher age of placement, higher foster parent stress, higher foster parent age, and higher child risk scores will predict insecure forms of attachment. The resulting findings may contribute to improved and research-based practice in implementing this form of care, for example in the areas of...
The Relationship between Sleep and Positive Emotion Regulation in Healthy Adults
Uškrtová, Johana ; Janků, Karolina (advisor) ; Urban, Kamila (referee)
This thesis concerns itself with the relationship between sleep and emotional regulation. Sleep is a significant state that plays a role in both physical and mental health. This thesis especially deals with the regulation of two positive self-conscious emotions, authentic and hubristic pride, in adult non-clinical population. The theoretical part introduces basic theories, knowledge and relevant research connecting sleep and emotional regulation. Through quantitative research with repeated measurements and multiple groups, the empirical part examines the relationship between sleep and the regulation of authentic pride, hubristic pride, and potential changes in the valency, arousal and dominance of the emotion. The emotion was induced by positive feedback to the participants' performance in cognitive tests. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the participants who were asleep between expositions marked the emotional intensity as significantly lower than those who stayed awake (F(1,34) = 5,99, p = 0,020). The size of the effect was large (ηšp = 0,150). The other variables did not show a significant interaction between the measurement and group. These findings may help with further studies of sleep and emotional regulation, especially regulation of positive self-conscious emotions. Key words:...
Relationship between Self-Efficacy, Intrinsic Motivation and Creative Performance in University Students
Kafková, Pavla ; Urban, Kamila (advisor) ; Popper, Miroslav (referee)
The present study examined the relationship between creative self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, and creative performance in the population of Czech university students. Creativity is currently an increasingly valued skill and if we want to develop and use creativity effectively, whether in ourselves or in others, we need to know its wider context - what creativity is, how and under what circumstances it manifests itself, and what other factors influence creative performance. Previous studies have pointed to the existence of positive correlations between intrinsic motivation and creative performance, as well as between creative self-efficacy and creative performance, but the interaction between these three variables has not been sufficiently investigated. The theoretical section of this thesis provides an overview of the basic background for examining these relationships. The aim of the research, which was conducted on a sample of 157 university students (M = 24.8, SD = 6.45), was to examine the relationships between creative self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, and creative performance. The IMI inventory, the SSCS inventory, two verbal tasks from the TTCT, and a short scale of creative self-efficacy were used to measure the variables. Relationships between variables were analyzed using Spearman...
University students' experience of an art therapy
Jonášová, Adéla ; Urban, Kamila (advisor) ; Zábrodská, Kateřina (referee)
There is an increasing demand for mental health support for undergraduate students in university counselling centres. Art therapy is one of the interventions that can be applied in the mental health care of university students. Research focusing on university students shows that art therapy helps to reduce stress, anxiety and depression, and promotes an increase in self-acceptance, self-esteem, self-confidence, resilience and overall mental well-being. The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis was to offer an overview of art therapy with focus on group art therapy with university students. The empirical part of the thesis aimed to focus on the voice of the client, specifically mapping the expectations and themes of university students entering an art therapy group, their experiences of participating in the group and the impact they feel. The research was conducted on a sample of 11 university students. In-depth interviews were used and were conducted twice - after the group began and after the group ended. The data was analysed using thematic analysis. Five themes were identified in the first interview - Working on oneself, Social reasons, Art, Organization, Professional interest. The second questioning resulted in four themes - Art Therapy Process, Social Dimensions, Participant Development...

Change in evaluation and satisfaction of partners with the length of romantic relationship
Turková, Anna ; Urban, Kamila (advisor) ; Štěrbová, Zuzana (referee)
Positive evaluation of romantic partner and romantic relationship is essential for a healthy relationship, which has a significant impact on satisfaction, health, and overall well-being of individual. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the evaluation and satisfaction of romantic partners in different lengths of relationships. A qualitative research design was chosen for the purpose of the thesis. Using the thematic analysis, 16 semi-structured interviews were analysed, 8 with participants in longer relationships (with an average duration of 10,5 years) and 8 with participants in shorter relationships (with an average duration of 12 months). The result of the thematic analysis indicates that respondents from both groups highlighted spending quality time with their partner when evaluating their romantic relationship and described their partner's character traits such as introversion/extraversion, reliability, and sensitivity. Finally, on the topic of conflict, respondents agreed that finances and housework were frequent topics of conflict in their relationship. A significant contribution of the research makes the themes on which respondents from both groups differed, a discrepancy not mentioned in the literature. Respondents in shorter relationships mentioned their ex-partners significantly...
