Diversity of Neofabraea species causing bull's eye rot in the Czech Republic
Pešicová, Kamila ; Novotný, David (advisor) ; Mazáková, Jana (referee)
Neofabraea is a genus of an important plant pathogenic fungi having worldwide appearance. Four Neofabraea species are responsible for bull's eye rot of pome fruits. The aim of this thesis was to investigate which of these species occur in the Czech Republic. 81 isolates were collected during a two- year period and they were identified using PCR fingerprinting (primers ERIC 1R and M13-core) and DNA sequencing (ITS, mtSSU and tub2). The results showed that species N. alba, N. perennans and Cryptosporiopsis kienholzii occur in the Czech Republic. According to available information, this is the second record of C. kienholzii in Europe. One isolate (KP4) failed to be identified as any of the species. KP4 is very close to C. kienholzii, but it can be distinguished both biologically and genetically. Furthermore, the aggressiveness of individual species was compared.N. perennans and strain KP4 proved to be most aggressive, the least aggressive is C. kienholzii. Two N. alba strains (KP36 and KP37) isolated from healthy apple fruit and leaf are pathogenic for apple fruits. Keywords: aggressiveness, Cryptosporiopsis kienholzii, Dermateaceae, Helotiales, apple tree, Malus, PCR fingerprinting, postharvest diseases Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Fungi of the fruit trees with special reference to genus Neofabraea
Pešicová, Kamila ; Novotný, David (advisor) ; Krátká, Jiřina (referee)
This thesis is a literature review concerning fungi associated with the fruit trees with special reference to genus Neofabraea. It is intend on endophytic fungi of all fruit trees and on pathogenic fungi of pome fruit. The genus Neofabraea is an important pathogenic genus whose representatives attack mainly apple and pear trees and cause bark diseases (anthracnose canker and perennial canker) and bull's eye rot of fruits. Identification and detection of them is difficult using conventional mycological and microbiological methods because these species usually do not sporulate in vitro. Therefore they are used modern, immunochemical or molecular-genetic methods.

Zemánková, Markéta ; Novotný, David Jan (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
The thesis, called Czech films based on well-known criminal cases: from reality, newspaper news to feature film and film reviews. Murder in Polná - Case of Leopold Hilsner, deals with a criminal case which took place at the break of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. A young girl, Anežka Hrůzová, was murdered in the Březina woods outside the town of Polná. At a time when anti-Semitic sentiments dominated the society, a Polná resident and a Jew, Leopold Hilsner, was accused as the perpetrator of the crime. He was later convicted of this crime, and another one of a similar nature, even though there was no relevant evidence or testimonies. The period news outlets played a significant role in spreading the anti-Semitic tendencies. This thesis describes the course of this real-life case and focuses on the methods the media used to inform about it. Director Viktor Polesný made a film on the issue, Zločin v Polné (Murder in Polná), which is analysed in the thesis, along with the reviews written about this film, including the reception by viewers. The thesis compares the actual case with its film adaptation, and the responses of the media, which accompanied both the event itself and the film. Included in this work are also the historical context and the sources of the anti-Semitism of the...
"Gulliver on the Back of a Whale." Media Image of Pavel Juráček's work in 60s and 70s and after 1989
Kokta, Josef ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Novotný, David Jan (referee)
The goal of the master thesis deals with the media image of work of a screenwriter and director Pavel Juráček in the Czechoslovak and Czech press in 1960-1970 and after 1989. Juráček was one of the most outstanding filmmakers of so-called Czechoslovak New Wave, whose career was stopped because of The Warsaw Pack Invasion in Czechoslovakia and following restoration of firm rule of a communist party. That's the reason why a first research period is set to 60s and early 70's when Juráček was going through his main artist evolution. The part of the thesis is focused on his films: The Cars without Homes (1959), The Dynamite Watcher (1960), Black-and-White Sylva (1961), Ikarie XB 1 (1963), Joseph Kilian (1963), A Jester's Tale (1964), Nobody Gets the Last Laugh (1965), Every Young Man (1965), The End of August at the Ozone Hotel (1966), Kino-Automat - Man and His house (1967) and Case for the New Hangman (1969). The second shorter part of the thesis is focused on the transformation of the media image of Juráček's work after his death in 1989 mainly because of publishing of his literary heritage, most importantly his diaries.

Křapka, David ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Novotný, David Jan (referee)
The main purpose of my bachelor thesis "Media presentment of the president Vaclav Klaus's second term on pages of Lidové noviny and Hospodářské noviny" is to find out how was the former president presented in newspapers Lidové noviny and Hospodářské noviny. The thesis is greatly focused on the Vaclav Klaus itself and I wanted occurrences of his second term to be further connected with historical context. Media analysis itself is not focused only on the Vaclav Klaus but also on the possible impartiality of these two newspapers while they are informing about him. Final output then will be complex media image of the Vaclav Klaus and judgment about the editors of both Lidové noviny and Hospodářské noviny.
