Development of communication ability in children with Down syndrome

The bachelor's thesis, Development of communication ability in children with Down syndrome, is a work of special educational nature aiming to acquaint readers with the issue of communication in children with Down syndrome. The theoretical part is based on Czech and foreign literature analysis and information found in electronic sources. It is divided into two chapters. The first chapter is dealing with communication in general and the development of speech and language skills in intact children. The second one is devoted to Down syndrome, the author is dealing with its definition terminology and etiology. It also elaborates on impaired communication skills of children with Down syndrome, speech therapy intervention and alternative and augmentative communication. The empirical part of this bachelor thesis is included in the third chapter. The main goal of the research is to analyze the development of communication ability in children with Down syndrome, partial goals and research questions have been set based on that. Speech therapy intervention and the profession of speech therapist from the perspective of parents

The diploma thesis deals with the parents' view of the process of speech therapy intervention and the profession of speech therapist. The work is divided into the theoretical part and the practical part. The introductory chapter describes the individual parts of the speech therapy intervention process, namely speech therapy diagnostics, therapy and prevention. The second chapter deals with departments where it is possible to meet speech therapists. The following chapter deals in detail with the competencies of individual speech therapy professions and also their necessary professional training. The fourth and last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to the parents of children with speech desorder. Their role and participation in the process of speech therapy intervention are described. Subsequently, this issue is also described in the context of the implementation of distance therapies during the Covid-19 pandemic. Motor Skills of Children with Communication Disabilities in Preschool Age

The topic of the diploma thesis is motor skills of children with communication disabilities in preschool age. The thesis includes theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part deals mainly with psychomotor development of the child from birth to preschool age. The thesis also deals with speech development of the child and stages of speech ontogenesis. Third chapter is dediated to communication disability with a focus on diagnosis deleyed speech, development, dyslalia and development dysphasia. In the end there are mentioned and described the most often used diagnostic materials, detecting level of motor skills in preschool age. The main aim of the empirical part is to find out the level of motor skills of children with communication disabilities in preschool age. The main method of quantitative research is the set of tasks to diagnose the level of motor skills. The results of 15 participating probands are then compared with an equally large control group of children without communication disabilites. The said research is supplemented by survey that is focused on psychomotor development of child. Use of technical devices in speech therapy with people after a stroke

The master's thesis is aimed at the use of technical devices in speech therapy for individuals affected by a stroke. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part focuses on the characteristics of a stroke and other speech-related disorders caused as a result of this acute condition. Specific technical devices used in speech therapy are also outlined in this part. The empirical part contains a qualitative research where case studies are applied. The main goal was to identify which technical device was used during a therapy. Moreover, it is clarified why a particular device was chosen by the therapist, its use and further development during the therapy and the patient's relationship towards the technical device while undergoing speech therapy. Effect of breastfeeding and early feeding on the development of articulation difficulties

The diploma thesis is on a special pedagogical topic with a specializatin on the field of speech therapy. In its theoretical part, it summarizes the findings on the development of speech in early and preschool children, also focuses on the connection between breastfeeding and other methods of feeding at an early age, the development of the orofacial system and the development of articulation of individual sounds. The practical part presents research of a qualitative nature. It contains information from interviews with mothers of children who have been diagnosed with dyslalia. Based on the grounded theory, the obtained information was processed and research conclusions were created. Development of the child's communication skills from the parents' point of view

The diploma thesis in speech therapy deals with the issue of children's speech development from the parents' point of view. The first chapter is devoted to the theoretical definition of communication itself and explains the difference between language and speech. At the end of the introductory chapter, the communication process is described and verbal and nonverbal communication is also defined. The second chapter of the theoretical part is focused on the development of speech, which is divided into the preparatory period and stages of one's own speech development. The chapter also includes the development of speech from the perspective of language levels, including the factors that affect it. The conclusion of the theoretical part is devoted to speech development disorders. Within the empirically oriented part of the diploma thesis, the main goal was set, the intention of which was to find out whether parents are interested in the development of speech in their offspring and what importance they attach to this issue. The diploma thesis aims to find a possible benefits of particular mobile application named KROK, which is the acronym of the following czech words:" K - konec, R - rychlým, O - odpovědím, K - koktavost." The mobile application is designed for people who have problems with speech fluency, especially for those with the diagnosis of stammer. The introductory part of the theoretical part deals with the problematics of stammer, explores the terminology, etiology, symptomatology and it's classification. The next part of the diploma thesis describes a possible forms of diagnosis of the stammer and speech therapy. The last part of the theoretical part of the diploma thesis focuses on the techniques and methods, which may be used by the mobile application KROK. The empirical part of the diploma thesis focuses on the research itself which determines the possible benefits of the techniques that could be used by the mobile application KROK for people with stuttering.
Premature birth as a cause of communication disabilities

The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of a speech therapy. It deals with premature birth in connection with communication disorder. The first part describes premature birth, mental, motor and speech development of premature babies which will be compared with the development of intact children. The diploma thesis also analyzes level and possibilities of care for premature babies with communication disorder. The second part deals with case studies and interviews using qualitative research methods. The research involved respondents aged 4 to 6 years who were born before the 34th week of pregnancy and their parents.
