Multiculturalism and integration of Japanese children into Czech nursery schools

The theoretical part has two main aims. The first one is to clarify terms related to multiculturalism using professional literature. The second very important aim is to introduce the Japanese culture, the evolution of Japanese family and the status of a child in society. Also there is the outlook on Japanese preschool education institutions. These information comes basically from the interview with the Japanese national, nevertheless some additional information comes from literature. The aim of the practical part is analysed the stay of seven Japanese children in the kindergarten in one class during approximately three years. Then it introduce integration program of Japanese children to typical Czech kindergarten which is based on practical experiences. Also the practical part describes the preschool attendance of the foreign children in one kindergarten during 10 years. The research has proved the attendance of the foreign children to other kindergarten in Prague parts Břevnov, Dejvice and Hanspaulka. As well the research presents teacher's experiences with multiculturalism and multicultural education.
Bullying at school and how to deal with it

Diploma thesis is consists of two main parts. The first one, theoretical part, brings a summary of nowadays most recommended approaches in prevention and solution of bullying at primary school. Readers will be acquainted with a typology of victims and aggressors, myths connected with bullying and institutions which are engaged with it. The aim of the empirical part is a comparison of two Prague schools - one with anti bullying program and one without it. I chose a screening questionnaire by Dr. Michal Kolář as a research method. Principle of individualizion in evaluation process at primary school

This thesis has theoretical and practicalcharacter. In the theoretical part, I accumulate knowledge about the definition of assessment and school evaluation forms, functions and types of assessment. Then I mention self-evaluation, portfolio and individual standard. In the practical part, I had evaluated the results ofquantitative and qualitative research, based on interviews with primary school teachers on the topic from the theoretical part. In the quantitative part of the research I have submitted questionnaires to teachers of different primary schools. Questions are focused on their attitude towards the current evaluation school system, student's self-evaluation and the level of individualization by teacher's student assessments. In several in-depth semi-structured interviews, which have the character of qualitative, I amfocusing moreon the answers in the questionnaire and I try to find the differences or agreements between the teacher's attitudes and beliefs on the topic in their answers. Leader In Me, the educational program at a primary school

This thesis examines the educational program "The leader in me" and its functioning within the first grades of elementary school. The thesis is divided into three chapters - theoretical, analytical and practical. The first theoretical part introduces the program and defines and explaines the term "habit". The outcomes of the first presented chapter focus on the interconnections between self-management and the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education. The analytical part summarizes experiences and results gathered during researching the sample elementary school A.B. Combs and other schools that use the examined program in their classrooms. This has been achieved based on the analysis of Czech and foreign resources. The last practical part presents a qualitative survey, whose main objective was to reflect on teaching practices that have been based on methods of self- management and on knowledge gained in the theoretical part of this thesis.
Varied English Teaching

The main aim of the diploma thesis is to show, that a teaching process can be diverse especially in the early beginning. Diploma work: Varied English Teaching introduces the theory of Multiple Intelligences fit in the English lesson at elementary school. This work absolutely respects principals of the theory and tries to apply them in the teaching practice. The theoretical part is focused on the conception and interpretation of English language from the point of view of the state and school policy and multiple approach in the lesson. The program Začít spolu (Step by Step) is introduced with its methodology as an ideal place for the teaching. The attention is paid to the theory of Multiple Intelligences in the context of English teaching. The project made on the principals of the theory of Howard Gardner and its implication to the teaching process is surveyed in the school practice at primary school Angel using the program Začít spolu. Multicultural education in a preschool together with familial integration

První část diplomové práce nazvaná " Multikulturní výchova v mateřské škole v integraci s rodinami" pojednává o některých termínech, týkajících se této problematiky. Dále se věnuje současné multikulturní situaci v České republice. Na toto téma jsem se zaměřila z hlediska významu spolupráce mateřské školy s rodinami a výhod multikulturní výchovy v mateřské škole s rodiči. Druhá část zahrnuje návrh třídního kurikula s multikulturním zaměřením v integraci s rodiči a jeho realizaci v soukromé anglické mateřské škole v Praze. Abstract: The first section of this thesis which is entitled "Multicultural Education in a pre-school with familial integration" starts by outlining the most common terms in this broad issue, followed by a current position of multiculturalism in Czech Republic. I focused on a topic in a sense of the co-operation between a pre-school and families from a multicultural view point. The second part includes a concept of the Multicultural Class Curriculum with familial integration and presents its realization in a privat English Pre-school in Prague.
Developing of pupils' competence to cooperate

The aim of this thesis is to describe and explain the factors which affect formation and development of pupils' competence to cooperate across all grades of lower primary school. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part describes various factors which affect pupils' competence to cooperate - on the side of pupil and teacher. The practical part contains the results of research that explains how teacher builds and develops the pupil's competence to cooperate in each grade of lower primary school, which style of teaching supports development of this competence and also how is this competence affected by pupils' developmental prerequisites. This thesis contributes to creation of comprehensive knowledge about the development and building pupils' competence to cooperate and it is supported by examples from pedagogical practise. Motivating pupils of younge school age

My thesis deals with the motivation of younger school aged pupils. The theoretical part contains explanation of the term of motivation, characteristics of a child younger school age, specifics of motivation in education and possible ways of application in teaching. Here I also mention pros and cons of the use of rewards and punishments and typology of the child, which has an impact on the ways and means of motivating pupils. Finally in this part I devote to the motivation (pupils) to movement activities. The empirical part of my thesis is based on theoretical knowledge. I find out performance motivation of pupils using questionnaires for pupils in fifth classes. I used the method of interview to collect data of the frequency and ways of use class teacher motivation during the class. These data I gave in perspective, to find out how teachers' motivation affects performance motivation of pupils.
Functions of an educational game in the 4th and 5th grades of primary school

The final thesis deals with the form and function of an educational game to be used in the 4th and 5th grades of primary school. It will deal with appropriate educational games for these pupils based on their emotional, intellectual and social development. Additionally, it will describe the method for how to categorize different kinds of educational games and how to include them in educational process. In the practical component, there is a comparison of opinions about an educational game between newly qualified and experienced teachers. The opinions of pupils and their evaluation of the specific games are also included. It includes a file of educational games as well which is based on a classification from the theoretical part.
Significance of developing emotional intelligence in primary schools

This master thesis aims to describe the strategies, methods and forms of work which are effective to promote emotional intelligence in the primary classroom. The theoretical part defines terms related to the topic such as emotional intelligence and its key components. It also deals with the curricular education to emotional intelligence. The aim of the empirical part is based on qualitative method, in-depth interviews and it deals with the questions how teachers think about the concept of emotional intelligence, which methods do they use for developing it and with which problems are they faced with. The empirical part will also provide an insight into the foreign language material which focuses on development of emotional intelligence.
