Criminal and criminological aspects of murder
Hořák, Jaromír ; Fenyk, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Císařová, Dagmar (referee) ; Púry, František (referee)
English abstract Legal and Criminological Aspects of Intentional Homicide JUDr. Jaromír Hořák The study explores selected problems on the subject of intentional homicide that has key importance in terms of differentiation of these delicts through the introduction of privileged and qualified factums of crime. Until recently, all cases of intentional homicide except of infanticide were considered "murder" under article No. 219 of the former Czechoslovak criminal code of 1961. The new Czech penal code passed in 2009 replaces this uniformed conception by a terminological bipartition of "murder" and a less grave crime of "manslaughter", defined as committed in an excusable state of sudden strong mental agitation or as motivated by previous damnable actions of the victim. Furthermore, the new penal code returns to the traditional distinction between "simple murder" and "murder committed with aforethought or after premeditation". The study endeavors to present a comprehensive commentary on the elements of this new system of homicide law. Therefore it examines the cases of intentional killings committed in a state of a strong non- pathological affect (agitation), further it deals with the issue of provocation of the offender by the victim and eventually it concentrates on the qualifying criteria of premeditation....
Disorders of iron metabolism in skin and chronic liver diseases
Krátká, Karolína ; Horák, Jiří (advisor) ; Ehrmann, Jiří (referee) ; Lata, Jan (referee) ; Martásek, Pavel (referee)
Iron is one of the important biogenic trace elements and its role in the mammalian body is indispensable. In nature there is another element with similar characteristics. Iron is part of a series of compounds that provide key functions such as cellular respiration and oxygen transport to tissues. It is also important for cell proliferation and differentiation, the regulation of gene expression and applies also in the immune system. Given that the effects of iron accumulation in genetic hemochromatosis have been investigated in detail, in recent years, increasing attention and concern about the consequences of iron accumulation also in other diseases. Because the results of previous studies are inconclusive and often mutually contradictory, the aim of this work to analyze and clarify the relationship between HFE gene mutations and iron metabolism in the pathogenesis and progression of some skin and chronic liver disease among genetic hemochromatosis.
Current Trends in Quantitative Analysis of Geographical Data: Potentialities and Limitations of Spatial Data Analysis
Netrdová, Pavlína ; Čermák, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Ježek, Josef (referee) ; Horák, Jiří (referee)
of the Ph.D. Thesis Netrdová, P.: Current trends in quantitative analysis of geographical data: potentialities and limitations of spatial analysis The thesis is a contribution to the discussion about the potentialities of the quantitative approach in geography. It follows the current trends in quantitative analysis of geographical data, specifically spatial analysis, particularly from the perspective of changes in the concept and character of applied methods and their possible contribution in geographical research. Due to the research focus of the author, the entire work is focused primarily on the issue of using quantitative methods in terms of social geography. Attention is focused particularly on statistically spatial analyses, which are the most widely used techniques in social geography, with a wide range of possible applications. One of the goals of this work is to bring the current development in quantitative geography closer to the Czech academic community, and thus contribute to the increased awareness of the potentialities of the application of quantitative methods and spatial analyses in geographical research. Methodological problems in the analysis of spatial data, theoretical changes in the concept of quantitative analysis and also newly emerging quantitative methods have not so far...
Myocardial regeneration after intracoronary injection of autologous bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells in patients with large anterior acute myocardial infarction and late reperfusion
Skalická, Hana ; Horák, Jan (advisor) ; Vojáček, Jan (referee) ; Málek, Ivan (referee)
Myocardial regeneration after intracoronary injection of autologous bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells in patients with large anterior acute myocardial infarction and late reperfusion Objective and background: Despite the use of reperfusion therapies, outcomes in patients with large ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), late reperfusion and left ventricular (LV) dysfunction is poor. We investigated longterm safety and efficacy of intracoronary injections of autologous bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells (BMNCs). Methods: 27 patients with anterior STEMI (age 59 ± 12 yrs, mean baseline LV ejection fraction (LVEF) 39±5%), who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention 4-24 hours after the onset of symptoms, were randomly assigned either to intracoronary BMNCs injection (n = 17, BMNCs group, out of which 14 underwent longterm follow-up), or to standard therapy (n = 10, Control group). The LVEF, the LV end-diastolic and end-systolic volumes (LVEDV, LVESV) and diastolic function (transmitral flow, pulmonary vein flow) were assessed by echocardiography at discharge, month 4 and 24. Myocardial perfusion was assessed using SPECT at baseline and month 4. Results: At 24-month, there was no difference in rates of serious clinical events (36% vs. 50%, p=0,54). At Month 4 LVEF improved to similar extent in...

Mapping, dating and documentation of historcal landscape structures in the landscape of the Lower Doubrava region
Horák, Jan ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Šefrna, Luděk (referee)
This diploma theses is focused on a topic of mediaeval landscape and it's recognition and it's development. The studied area is in the lower Doubrava River and Klejnárka river region, eastwards of Kutná Hora. The work is based on an analysis of historical, archaeological and geographical data and on a fieldwork research of the selected historical landscape features (of natural and also artificial origin). The dam of pond "Svatoanenský rybník" (Nové Dvory u Kutné Hory cadastral area) was chosen for the fieldwork research and for the dating analysis. There were made five dug sampling sites through the dam and alluvial sediments beneath. The profiles were described and analyzed. There were taken samples for these analyses: radiocarbon dating, optically stimulated luminescence dating (OSL) and heavy metal content assessment. The pond's origin is historically dated 1501 - 1552 AD. The dam was archeologically dated 15th century post quem (on the basis of pottery and glass sherds analysis). There was taken only one sample for 14 C dating from alluvial sediments. The result of dating by AMS method is 2070 +- 30 BP, but stratigraphically these sediments came from Middle Ages. This difference is cleared up by resedimentation of sampled wood. The analysis of OSL is still not finished. Most interesting results...
Language Qualification of Economic Students on the Labour Market. Specific patterns of the Euro-region Nisa
Neumannová, Helena ; Vašutová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Horák, Josef (referee) ; Andrášová, Hana (referee)
The author of this dissertation points out the parallels between language competence of graduates of the bachelor study and the master programmes at the Faculty of Economics of the Technical University in Liberec and their chances on the labour market. The dissertation highlights the significance of foreign language training for the economic graduates living in the euro-region, where the job offer is strongly influenced by foreign investors. The exclusive amount of hours in language teaching certainly increases the attraction of those subjects whose aim is to educate specialists having, on base of their competence of two world languages, better success prospects on the labour marked.
