Providing language support to children with a different mother tongue in preschool age

The thesis is devoted to the problem of providing language support to children with a different mother tongue in preschool age. The theoretical part discusses the child with a different mother tongue, the framework conditions for providing language support to children with a different mother tongue at preschool age in the Czech Republic, methodical and educational materials suitable language support for children with a different mother tongue in preschool age and the method Kikus. Empirical part is prepared on the basis of action research conducted under the support of a language course by Kikus methods for children with a different mother tongue in preschool age. The artist in the empirical part of the main objective, secondary objectives and the main research question of action research, as well as the methodology of this research. Characterizes children's group, which conducted action research and its transformation. Presents selected case reports of children with a different mother tongue preschoolers attending a language course. The conclusion considers the specifics of the application method Kikus in support of the Czech language as a second language in children with a different mother tongue in preschool age and summarizes the course of action research. Potential of Small School

The dissertation Potential of Small Scholl deals with specific features of this kind of schools. The paper presents the role of small schools in the school system, mutual interaction at schools, distinctive forms of organization and methodical approaches aiming at defining particularities of this kind of school. We have drawn a comparison of a small school and an ordinary primary school based on two case studies. Differences which have been found out can define potential of both types of schools. The results of the research have brought us recognition that the potential of a small school is conditioned by its size and low numbers of pupils in classrooms. These conditions enable creating such learning environment that provides a pupil with specific performance of school attendance. Other significant aspects are mutual cooperation among pupils themselves as well as among teachers and parents within a small social group or implementation of schooling in mixed age groups which leads particularly to respect and acceptance of otherness and of pupils with specific educational needs. Primary school pupils and their system of values according to their reading preferences

This diploma thesis focuses on the value system of primary school pupils and its connection to reading preferences. The terms "value" and "system of values" are being defined from the perspective of several social sciences. Apart from that, the stages of pupils' morality development are being described, as well as the acquisition of reading skills and the importance of reading during leisure time activities. The practical part evaluates the outcomes of survey examining the relation between the pupils' system of values and their reading preferences.

PhDr. Jana Uhlířová, CSc. This dissertation presents broad context of religious education generally together with the discourse of church established schools, above all nursery schools. The first, theoretical part treats with the broad topic of religious education in the context of the psychology of religion, religious socialization and the experience and the development of moral standards. This section also defines the role of family, church, school and the society in the religious development of the child and the transferring the beliefs and the traditions to young generation. Second practical part is divided into two substantive parts. First on the basis of analysis of questionnaire survey monitors the activities of religious nursery schools, their activities and teaching in relation to the proposed religious and educational goals. Second unit of this part deals with extracurricular activities that churches are doing for children during the week.
Christmas Traditions and Customs in the Nursery School

The thesis focuses on the concept and realization of Advent and Christmas traditions and customs. The theoretical part is based on religious and ethnographic texts and focuses on the existence of Christmas traditions and customs in our country from the 19th century up till now. The practical part examines the role of today's kindergarten teacher as a distributor of traditions and customs. It shows teacher's and pupils' work during the period of Advent and Christmas, the teaching materials and to what extent teachers are aware of the meaning and the origin of these customs and traditions.
Outdoor preschools

My diploma work is concerned with the themes of outdoor preschools and pre-school education. It searches for and is stemming from the similar subjects in foreign countries and within the Czech Republic. It shows what the benefits of children being outside are. It also searches and points out liabilities which are necessery to be taken into account. The work presents the used resources, which can lead to the foundation of the other outdoor preschools and their maintanence. The empirical study is managed as an action research. The first part of the practical section shows experiences of the outdoor preschools in general and it presents interviews with their pedagogues. The second part of the practical section deals with the opinion of experts and the non-professional community. Moving on, one then investigates the ideal level of achievement in separate competences in an ordinary preschool, and outdoor preschools. Further more, the next section is targeted at the expert's expectations and apprehensions about children staying at an outdoor preschool, taking into account their views in relation to outdoor preschools. Focus groups are being used to question the experts. The important part of the work is to analyse the legal enactments in relation to outdoor preschools motherly school.
Controversial Issues as a Part of Education in Primary Schools

This diploma thesis focuses on dealing with controversial issues in primary schools. The main aim of this work is to find out why it is appropriate to integrate these issues into teaching, whether it is even possible for primary school pupils to deal with them and how these topics can be taught and integrated. The theoretical part begins by defining the term controversial issue, then it is devoted to developmental presupposition of primary school children for dealing with controversial issues, then how these issues relate to Citizenship and Global Education, and which methods can be used for dealing with controversial issues. Education for patriotism in Czech schools

The key aim of this work is a method of patriotic education in our schools, mainly in the first grade of primary schools. The point of this work is to awaken patriotism in society again. In the first step we are informed about the important ideas that enable to develope the assumptions neccesary for the patriotic recognition and for an increase in patriotic feeling. The theory pays the attention to morality, influencing behaviour; for example, material and physical values and the aesthetic. It describes each historical term individually, from the beginning of national recovery during the first half of 19th century to the present days. It underlines the need to understand correctly the individual ideas and it points out the general chaos and risks of their interpretations in society. It recognises the important tasks that our society has to face to maintain the education of patriotism succesfully. The practical aspect contains the class discussions, interwiews and analysis of individual pupils, teachers, directors and it compares the level and quality of class debats with teacher`s attitude. The main thing was to find out the teachers' personal feeling about patriotism, his or her attitude towards its education and the way he or she communicates this during the lessons.
History of the elementary education system in the Hradec Kralove region with a particular focus on a primary school in Chlumec nad Cidlinou

This Diploma Thesis is focused on the history of the elementary education system in the area of Hradec Králové. Special attention is paid to a primary school in Chlumec nad Cidlinou. The History of a particular school in Chlumec nad Cidlinou is the material source used to formulate the project for the primary school pupils in this school. The main approach of the project will be to familiarize pupils with the history of their school and to strengthen the pupils' relationship to the school.
Development of the Czech nursery school in 1980 - 2010 in Ostrava

The aim of this theses is to summarize the development of the Czech nursery school in the years 1980-2010 in Ostrava. The development is divided into chapters by decades. Each chapter describes the current educational legislation which has been related to nursery schools in the given period. The focus is on target and the concept of education in the nursery school in the given decade. Detail is devoted to important documents determined to the nursery school. It deals with the changes in the planning and evaluation of the educational work. The practical part is processing historical documents, such as school records, chronicles and inspection reports from nursery schools in Ostrava. The method of the questionnaire survey finds opinions nursery school's teachers on the transformation of the Czech nursery school. The questionnaire survey maps the views of parents to the current nursery school. In conclusion my thesis compares the Czech nursery school in each decade according to the monitored items. Finally, theses summarizes the development of the Czech nursery school in the years from 1980 to 2010.
