Czech labour market for foreigners and the situation of Vietnamese employees
Nguyen, Anh Dung ; Potůček, Martin (advisor) ; Kuchař, Pavel (referee)
Most of the European countries are now facing the common challenge from aging population. This affects the labour market and consecutively the economic engine. As a matter of course the Czech Republic has to welcome workers from outside sources to supplement its labour shortage. I've found that the majority of the migrant workers going to the Czech Republic are low skill ones and they concentrate in the lower tier of the labour market. The efforts of the Government to attract high skill workers have not been much successful in bringing more qualified foreigners to the country. The Vietnamese is the third largest migrant community in the Czech Republic with 60.301 registered people. For those who came here in the 70s and 80s, they have been legally and pretty successfully residing in the society. But for the new workers who were sent to work in Czech factories since 2006, the global crisis turned their lives into hardship. They lost jobs but they couldn't or didn't want to go home. They must hold on in this land with a hope to change their lives.

Schmid, Jan ; Bahbouh, Radvan (referee) ; Kuchař, Pavel (advisor)
Thesis is intended as a methodological experiment which follows up to contemporary extractions of social networks using flow of email communication. It tries to combine previous technical approaches and further develop them. As essential discipline is identified social network analysis (SNA) and its historical development is briefly described. SNA is not understood as an independent science and its incompatibility to other scientific disciplines (sociology, sociometry) is pointed out. The introduction of SNA is completed by description of data file organization, which quite differs from conventional organization of sociological data file, as well as description of basic computing methods. The thesis focuses on SNA in organizations where it serves to map informal structure and its comparison to formal structure. Concept of informal structure introduces the term of community of practise, which is considered as an ideal condition for innovation. Individual aspects allowing or obstructing the development of community of practise can be defined through models of communication networks. Apart of SNA in organizations diploma take in consideration authors who worked on analysis of email networks. Summary of previous studies offers different ways of SNA of email communication but most of cases do not combine SNA in...
Flexibilisation of work
Matula, Radek ; Kuchař, Pavel (referee) ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor)
This work discusses the subject of work flexibilisation, its different forms and its main impacts on the labour markets nature. From a theoretical point of view I try to examined technological and institutional changes, which facilitate development of atypical forms of labour contracts such as part- time, temporary and irregular work. In the following section of this work the main structural changes of economy, especially in their impact on labour, are tracked. Not only the subject of globalisation or transition to postindustrial economy are being paid atttention to in this work, but also institutional changes of post-communist countries, especially the Czech republic, and their institutional "path dependency" are presented here. Using data of ISSP project I have evaluated the current range of different forms of work flexibility. The main conclusion from this analysis refers to previous idea of low level of work flexibility in the Czech republic. This fact can be explained by prevailling concept of standard, full time work in this country and weak pressures leading to flexibilisation of labour market. Even if the range of work flexibility is negligable in the Czech republic, last section of the work is dedicated to evaluation of particular european model of work flexibility called flexicurity and its...

The antimissile system base in the Czech Republic in the public
Adámek, Stanislav ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Kuchař, Pavel (referee)
The aim of thesis "The antimissile base in the Czech Republic" is to introduce the decision making process concerning a radar base, which would be located in Brdy, Czech Republic. Interpretation of this process was based on media monitoring and collected data from public opinion surveys through theoretical concept of risk society by Ulrich Beck. The whole discussion about the military base is emotional and therefore confusing. The base should serve as a protection from the risk of a rocket aggression, nevertheless, on the other hand it is viewed as a source for another threats eg. public are defining base like possible target from unknown potential enemy i.a. like source of harmful X-rate too etc. Because this manufactured risks are product o f human activity, there is a huge potential to assess the level of risk that is being produced, or that is about to be produced. As it is the destiny of the Risk society to multiply threats. Under these circumstances the merit of the discussion has blured definitely. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
The Transmission of Romanian Traditional Values of Mixed Romany-Czech Marriages
Innemanová, Petra ; Dočkal, Jan (advisor) ; Kuchař, Pavel (referee)
The goal of my graduation treatise is research of three generations of mixed Romany-Czech marriages in the aspects of upbringing, education and traditions and how and how many of these aspects were transmitted in a progress of time. Which Romanian traditional values have kept during the theree genarations of the inter marriages. In the theoretical part of my treatise I tried to describe all topics which I then researched in the practical part with individual couples which were namely the fellowship in the family, individual roles among the members of the family, upbringing, relationship to education, traditions and rituals in a traditionnal Romany family. The purpose of this research is to find out if and how Romany partners are assimilated into the major society. My methods were: the qualitative method, participatory observation and dialogs with individual respondents. The results clearly indicate that assimilation into the major society is very succesful as well as a higher level of education, older age of partners when they get married and have their firt child. Their birth rate is lower as the generations pass. Some further interesting facts are that the second generation of mixed marriages doesn't keep a lot from Romany culture, language, history and traditions and that which has been kept is practised...

Voříšek, Petr ; Kuchař, Pavel (referee) ; Mudd, Dana (advisor)
The thesis focuses on the transformation processes of tertiary education and aims to provide recommendations for its progress in the Czech Republic. At first, changes of the majority of systems tertiary education in the European countries in the last fifty years are introduced to the reader. This includes the formalized effort for unification of education policies in the sphere of tertiary education, so called "Bologna Process". The paper consequently describes in detail the progress of the higher education in the Czech Republic in the last twenty years, above all in relation to demographic changes in the population, and offers the projection of its expected development. Findings from the first chapters are summarized and supplied by the recommendations of the OECD examiners. The crucial recommendations of OECD examiners - monitoring of the graduates employability and monitoring of the quality of higher education study programmes - are targeted in the second part of the text. Based on the international survey of higher education graduates as well as on the analysis of university rankings' weaknesses, the author constructs the two dimensional indicator of the quality of graduates. The first dimension takes into account particularly the ability of graduates to successfully come across the employment market...
