Historical process of individualization and narcissism as its contemporary manifestation

Tato diplomová práce si klade především dva základní cíle: (a) zjistit ruptury v historicko-společenském vývoji, které umožnily vznik a rozvoj individualismu a současně popsat podobu tohoto jevu v daných obdobích (započatých a ukončených jednotlivými zlomy): jeho masovost a souvislosti ve vztahu k fungování a uspořádání celé společnosti, (b) zjištění měřitelnosti narcismu. 2 1.4 Popis struktury diplomové práce, zvoleného metodologického rámce a metod Ad a K určení vzniku a vývoje procesu individualizace v západní Evropě (především v Itálii, Anglii a Francii) poslouží studium relevantní literatury, a to jednak sociologické, ale především historické. Informace týkající se soudobé podoby zkoumaného jevu budou vycházet ze sociologických studií, existujících výzkumů a z autorovi vlastní reflexe dnešní společnosti. Celá tato část práce tak bude mít podobu čistě teoretického výzkumu. Ad b Druhá část diplomové práce bude naopak plně empirická, tvořená dvěma kvantitativními, deduktivní výzkumy. Chronologicky první výzkum bude věnován konstrukci škály narcismu a zjištění její obsahové validity na 151 respondentech. Druhý, již reprezentativní výzkum, podrobí získanou škálu zevrubnější kvantitativní analýze na reprezentativním vzorku čítajícím 1081 respondentů.

Distinction in the sociological theory of Pierre Bourdieu

This thesis called Distinction in Sociological Theory of Pierre Bourdieu is mostly a theoretical writing focused on a description of the distinction mechanism.The main source of information is an almost identically called book written by the above mentioned french sociologist and antropologist, the mechanism of distinction is after a detailled introspection set into a larger context of Bourdieu's theory. In the beginning a few key notions are presented, inclusive of a short biography, introduction of certain sources of inspiration and, most important, the position of Bourdieu's theory within an almost classical dualism of paradigms. The next part describes in full detail some key theoretical notions on which a later understanding of Bourdieu's distinction is based. The mechanism itself is questionned with a particular stress on individual differences not having been captured in previous parts of the text. It is especially the importace of mental pair dualities within the a classifying mental operation and their social consequences, such as a proces of social inclusion, a creation of social identity a complementary running of social exclusion. The influence of social group mentalities in the Czech Republic after 1989

The goal of the dissertation thesis is to describe and analyze the influence of social group mentalities on the processes of post-communist transformation in the Czech Republic after 1989. Mentalities are described through their impact on attitudes, political and economical activities of different social groups (defined by socio-professional status, social class, and age). They are analyzed both in national and international context. The inquiry into determination of collective action has had its gradual progress in the sociology, so the dissertation outlines different approaches to social groups from this field of view. This outline led to the operationalization of the term "social group mentality". Mentalities can be treated as schemes of perception, thinking and acting, which are typical to a social group and relatively stable in time. Three structural dimensions of mentality were found, in which it is appropriate to make further inquiry - group identity, legitimization of leadership, and goal achievement. A qualitative survey, conducted in 2003-2004, gave answers about sources of creation of the social group mentalities. Visual aspect of the presentation of self and its relation to the society (qualitative research)

Tématem této diplomové práce je vizuální stránka sebeprezentace a její vztah ke společnosti. Konkrétně jakými způsoby je sebeprezentace ovlivňována sociálními aspiracemi jedince a jak je podmíněna kulturně. Rovněž je pojednáno o funkci, kterou vizuální stránka sebeprezentace plní ve vymezování se jedince vůči společnosti, také při utváření sociálních vazeb a vizuální komunikaci. Hlavní částí práce je analýza kvalitativního výzkumu, které předchází teoretická úvodní část. První, teoretická část, uvádí do problematiky, objasňuje nejdůležitější užívané pojmy a rovněž je věnovaná přehledu závěrů, ke kterým došli autoři zabývající se příbuznými tématy. Empirická část se zakládá na kvalitativním výzkumu, který zrealizovala autorka této práce. Na základě analýzy dat je zde v jednotlivých podkapitolách pojednáno o hodnotách a postojích jedince a o aspektech životního stylu, které utvářejí výslednou sebeprezentaci. Jde jednak o popis celkový, jednak o srovnání vlivů proměnných jako je pohlaví, věk, tendence k individualismu, vztah k ekologii či aktivní kreativitě, orientace na peníze, na módu a jejich vzájemných souvislostí. Na konci diplomové práce nalezneme shrnující závěry, návrh dalšího možného postupu a polemiky s dříve uvedenými autory.

The Roma ethnic minority in Czech society: to the specifics of Roma in context of contemporary requirements

Téma této diplomové práce - problematika romské menšiny v České republice, je tématem široce diskutovaným a v naší společnosti stále aktuálním. Tato práce pojednává o vybraných oblastech života Romů v soudobé české společnosti, které bývají považovány za nejproblematičtější, s ohledem na kulturně historické pozadí a specifika romského etnika. Z důvodu nedostatku validních dat je převážně prací teoretickou. V prvních kapitolách je celá problematika vsazena do historických souvislostí, pro hlubší pochopení příčin některých současných problémů, týkajících se romské menšiny v české republice, která jsou tématy následujících kapitol. Dále je pojednáno o specifikách romské kultury a romského jazyka, které jsou častým důvodem neporozumění mezi příslušníky majority a Romy. V jednotlivých kapitolách jsou následně vyloženy oblasti životního způsobu a životní úrovně Romů, jejich zaměstnanosti a zaměstnatelnosti, vzdělanostní úrovně a situace ve vzdělávání Romů v ČR. Poslední kapitola rozebírá oblast vzájemných vztahů majority a romské minority, dotýká se problematiky diskriminace Romů, kulturních stereotypů a předsudků, které se k nim váží. Women in the role of breadwinners and care-takers: work and family stratefies of single mothers. Qualitative inquiry

The thesis "Women in the Role of Breadwinners and Care-takers: Work and Family Strategies of Single Mothers. Qualitative Inquiry" was written on the bases of a qualitative inquiry concerning the mutual relationship of single mother's work and private lives which is a part of the research "The Context of Changes in the Labour Market and Forms of Private, Family and Partner Life in Czech Society", carried out by the Gender and Sociology Department of the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The first part tries to survey the important labour market changes and the most distinctive family behaviour trends after 1989. The analytic part has as its subject to observe the mutual relationship of the changes within the two fields on a particular group of single mothers. To seize the problem, the method of semi-structured qualitative interviews was used, completed by a statistical analysis of previous representative survey data. The procedures applied should have helped to find an answer to the two key questions: In which way the current labour market demands reflect in the partnerships' fragility and How the single mothers' family situation affects their work behaviour. Political endeavours of identitarian movements Abstract: Aim of this thesis is defining and analyzing identitarian movements via explorative approach. Identitarian movements are school of thought and authors, who are bound together by common enemy and common political goals. They do have political ambitions, but were not yet capable of making important changes. With the help of contextual theories and analysis of movements strategy this thesis will explore if identitarian movemenst are capable of political succes and why do they struggle in doing so.

Bakalářská práce se tematicky vztahuje ke koncepcím dvou osobností - Maxe Webera, jenž nastoluje problém ekonomické kultury kapitalismu ve své práci Protestantská etika a duch kapitalismu, a Petera L. Bergera, který Weberovy předpoklady rozvíjí. Cílem práce je kritická analýza a porovnání názorů na danou problematiku. Práce má teoretickou povahu a je vypracována historicko-srovnávací metodou. Abstract The bachelor thesis topic relates to the concepts of two personalities - Max Weber who presents the problem of the economical culture of capitalism in his work The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, and Peter L. Berger who Weber's assumptions developed. The aim of this work is critical analysis and comparison of views on the issue. The work is based on the comparative-historic method.
