ABSTRACT: This thesis is focused on the reading literacy issues of pupils with other mother tongue in primary education. The aim of this work is to analyse and describe the contemporary state of reading literacy skills of pupils with other mother tongue in inclusive education context. The foreigners children have to overcome the social and cultural differences as well as the language barrier. In order to be successfully included into the education system, and consequently into our society, the pupils need to learn Czech language at the best level they are able to. The structure of this work is divided into two parts - the theoretical and practical one. There were quantitative and qualitative methods used in the research. The individual aims of this work were analysed, processed and discussed based on the results of the two research phases and description of good practice examples from Finland. Occurrence of specific learning disabilities of primary education pupils at selected basic schools and teachers work with these pupils

This thesis is focused on occurrence of specific learning disorders among primary education pupils in the selected basic schools and teachers'work with these pupils. The theoretical part of the thesis aims on delimitation of specific learning disorders; diagnostics; re-education; and potentional learning possibilities. Practical part analyses teachers' preparedness for specific learning disorders in the regions of Hradec Králové and Prague. Data were collected by means of questionnaire method. The thesis' objective is to discover a frequency and type of learning disorders occurring in the selected basic schools; how are teachers prepared for the issue of specific learning disorders among basic school pupils; and what methods are used in education of pupils with learning disorders. Secondary objective is to discover a share of pupils with learning disorders in inspected classrooms. Examined data showed that teachers have necessary professional qualities for education of pupils suffering from learning disabilities.
Methods of teaching early reading and writing in primary schools in England

The aim of this diploma thesis is to present one of the aspekts of teaching of early reading and writing in primary schools in England. By this aspekt we mean methods that are used during teaching early reading and writing. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis familiarize the reader with the education system in England as whole, describes the National Curriculum and closely familiarize the reader with the pre-school curriculum and primary school curriculum. From both curriculums are pointed out especially those aspects which relate to teaching English language. In addition, there will be presented programs of teaching early reading and writing and closely described methods of teaching early reading and writing. The practical part of diploma thesis is based on research which was performed in community primary school "Dale Community Primary School". The research was conducted by several methods: questionnaire survey, observation and controlled observation. Development of the reading literacy in the primary school across the subjects

In my thesis is focused on the development of the reading literacy to primary school across the curriculum. The aim of my thesis is to explore the possibilities of development of the reading literacy in all school subjects and across them and identify or solve the obstacles in the process. In the individual chapters of the theoretical part it defines the key terms literacy, reading literacy, school subjects and reading. I am trying to present reading literacy as a means to understand the various relationships between the general phenomena and as an input to various educational fields. It presents here the different methods specific to the development of the reading literacy. In the practical part deals with the development of the reading literacy across the curriculum and across them. The focus is mainly on subjects czech language and literature, mathematics, man and his world, art and music. The practical part consists of two parts. This thesis deals with the breaktime at the first grade of primary school, especially at the first class. The work is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part is devoted to the basic characteristics of school and education, develoments peculiarity of childs under school age, and finally the principal topic of the breaktime. The second part contains the braketime research of primary school in Liberec. The research includes methods of a structured observation of the first class pupils supplemented by interviews with pupils and their class teacher. The aim of this thesis is to present the current proces of breaketime and also to make comparison the first and 5th class and show the possibilities which are applicable to change the current proces.
School Recess (year 5)

The thesis titled School Recess (5th grade) describes the processes and how children spend their free time between lessons. This thesis aims for a global view on the whole issue of recess and the concept of the structure of the school day. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and a research. The theoretical part summarizes all available and relevant facts regarding the topic. It deals with the characteristics of the school environment, summarizes the biological and psychological development of children in the age group, and defines the function of breaks. The practical part of the thesis presents results of the research conducted through the research methods of observation and questionnaire. The results are interpreted and then descriptively assessed in accordance with the theoretical part. The last part of the research work is a comparison of the thesis' results with the same theme thesis focused on younger age groups. Finally, the conclusion of this thesis is that break time is necessary for children, and a significant time for relaxation, communication and interaction, play, socialization, and meeting the needs of bodily functions.
Development reading literacy by project in primary school

This thesis open the problematics of reading literacy and its development by project teaching. Dissertation is divided into two parts - theoretically and practically. In the first part there is described foundation of projects and project teaching, its history and advantages of its technique. Another topic is reading literacy, especially different concepts and ways of development by RWCT, creative drama and project teaching. Particular project is described in empiric part. Pupils of third class at primal school were observed during project. Qualitative and quantitative research is used in this thesis. The aim of research is influence of project teaching on pupil's motivation during the work with reading matter.
Upbringing and Education of Left-handed Children

This diploma thesis focuses on the important knowledge related to education and bringing up left-handed children. The theoretical part focuses on the explanation of the term laterality and its diagnostics and also on the methodology of left-handed writing and the preparatory exercises for writing. Furthermore this part points to some various causes and effects suppression of left- handedness, and a brief insight into a former approach and an actual approach. This part offers information to the new trend in writing - Czech school font called Comenia Script. The practical part concentrates on the development of writing for left-handed in the commonly used writing alphabet, and in the font Comenia Script. There is also included a tentative questionnaire for primary school teachers and an observation and teaching of left- handed pupils in four different grades at primary schools. Development of reading literacy in elementary school education (comparison between Norway and Czech Republic

The aim of the thesis is to compare current approaches to the development of reading skills at the primary school level in Czech Republic and Norway. In the thesis are staked out the terms of reading (čtenářství) and reading literacy. Further there is comparison of the PIRLS research results and marginally the PISA-reading literacy part results. The topic is implanted in the context of the school reform in Czech Republic and Norway. The thesis includes a brief characterization of Norwegian school system. The foundation of this thesis is that the current level of reading literacy in Norwegian schools is similar to the Czech ones. The thesis gives answers to questions: Which approaches uses the Norwegian and Czech school system to develop reading skills of the pupils. Do this approaches react on the reading skill's level of the pupils? Are these approaches functional? Is it possible to apply some of the Norwegian approaches in the Czech environment? There are used methods of analysis of the materials, observation and interviews in this work. The main conclusion of this thesis is that the biggest benefit of Norwegian school system is it's unity, orderliness and presence of vision which are the missing factors in Czech school system.
