The thesis specifically analyzes the form and extent of broadcasts on the ČT Sport channel, which owned the television rights to the tournament, and compares the coverage of baseball on the two most watched Czech news programs on ČT1 and TV Nova. It also balances six selected relevant websites with a sports theme (iSport.cz, iDNES.cz, Sport.cz, SeznamZprávy.cz, Deník.cz a ČeskáTelevize.cz) against each other. Additionally, it examines the only Czech sports newspaper Deník Sport. The thesis is supplemented by an interview with a representative of its editors, who reported on the event directly from the venue.

Panovská, Alena ; Němcová Tejkalová, Alice (advisor) ; Macková, Veronika (referee)
Terrorist attacks are a very specific events not only for the public and security forces, but also for the media. This thesis aims to describe and explain the way the media and the perpetrators of terrorist acts behave, severally and in relation to each other, and their adaptation to changes in technology, regulation, ethics and the journalistic profession between 2010 and 2020. In order to simplify and explain a complicated topic, whose segments are very closely intertwined, this thesis identifies several key areas of transformation. The central theme is the change in the media's approach to the issue of reporting on terrorist attacks and the link between the level of reporting on these acts and their subsequent implementation, but it does not neglect the attitude of the public or public institutions either. The work builds on publications dealing with the relationship between the two subjects, but tries to examine the issue in a more practical manner and in broader context. For the Czech Republic, terrorism is a rather distant topic (although public fears of this threat permeate the country as well), which is why it has so far been dealt with mainly abroad. This thesis combines findings from Czech and foreign sources, both in the academic literature, as well as Internet sources, documents and...

The situation of Ukrainian women and children after Fleeing the war conflict and their adaptation in social and societal conditions in the Czech Republic
Snopová, Adéla ; Macková, Veronika (advisor) ; Lokšík, Martin (referee)
In 2022, an armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine began, known as the Russian invasion or the Russian-Ukrainian war. Russian aggression against Ukraine culminated in an attack on 24 February 2022, making the conflict the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II. Russia has sent its troops into Ukrainian territory under the pretext of protecting Russian citizens and Ukrainian pro-Russian separatists. This was the culmination of several weeks of high tension, when Russia carried out military exercises near the Ukrainian border and massed troops in the Crimea and Donbas regions. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky declared mobilisation immediately after Russian troops crossed the Ukrainian border. The European Union, the United States and other countries have condemned Russia's aggression and have provided military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Sanctions have been imposed on Russia. This conflict has caused global political tension and raised fears of a further deterioration in relations between Russia and the West. At the time of writing this thesis, it has been over a year since the Russian aggression on Ukraine. The war is still ongoing and, according to Ukrainian authorities, has already claimed tens of thousands of civilian casualties. The television documentary entitled:...
The Shiraz Art Festival (1967-1977) through the lens of historical memory
Macková, Veronika ; Koláček, Jakub (advisor) ; Kříhová, Zuzana (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of the Festival of Arts in Shiraz, which took place in 1967-1977. The question asked by author asks is whether the festival could function as an autonomous art zone or whether the art scene was intertwined with the socio-political climate of Iran at that time. Using theories of collective and historical memory, significant festival events are analyzed and placed in a broader historical context. Both positive and critical reactions to the festival are examined. As the Festival also enters into contemporary cultural debates, this bachelor thesis focuses on the controversy between two curators who take opposing positions on the festival. The author concludes the thesis by noting that the festival did not take place in isolation from political events; rather, it was a symptom and later a catalyst of the complicated social tensions in Iran in the second half of the 1970s.
