The Way of Horus: Kingship and Transition in the Contendings of Horus and Seth
Čermák, Michal ; Pehal, Martin (advisor) ; Spalinger, Anthony John (referee) ; Goebs, Katja (referee)
The present study explores the Ancient Egyptian tale Contendings of Horus and Seth, attested from the New Kingdom Papyrus Chester Beatty I, with focus on its complex symbolism and relationship to contemporary Egyptian religious thought and royal ideology. Intertextual ties between the tale and multiple Egyptian textual corpora are outlined, including ritual texts, funerary inscriptions, royal inscriptions of various types and literature proper. The symbolic analysis is followed by an interpretation of the story as a literary rite of passage, centred on the drama of royal succession, represented in the tale by the maturation of the god Horus. Elements of individual stages of this process are identified, with particular attention being given to the liminal aspect of succession, in which the various symbolic layers merge into a single narrative focused on the transformation of a prince into a king. The study shows how the tale presents a complex theology of kingship as an earthly image of the creator god, who subsumes in the drama of his ascension to the throne the totality of vital processes in the universe, including the revival of the dead in the afterlife and a cyclic renewal of the whole cosmos. The figure of the god Seth serves as another major focus of the thesis, which describes his...

Čermák, Michal ; Perič, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kaplan, Aleš (referee)
Title: Testing of endurance, speed and strength abilities of regional football academy players Objectives: The topic of this bachelor thesis was the testing and subsequent comparison of endurance, speed and strength abilities in players of the Regional Football Academy. This thesis aimed to determine if the differences in performance between the Regional Football Academies involved in this work were significant. Furthermore, this thesis compared the possible differences in the performance of each category. The final comparison that the author addressed was to compare the motor testing results of the individual football positions with each other and whether these results showed significant differences. Methods: The methods that were used within the bachelor thesis were the methods of comparison of the above mentioned files. This comparison was done using statistical methods and tests. These methods and tests included the Koglomoror - Smirmov test, which determined the normality of the population under study. Furthermore, T - tests and Mann Whitney U - tests were used. These tests determined whether the differences in the measured values were statistically significant or not within the population of interest. Results: The result of this work is a comparison of the Regional Football Academies of the...
Center for seniors in Brno-Medlánky
Čermák, Martin ; Klimecký, Martin (referee) ; Gerö, Jiří (advisor)
The assignment of the diploma project was to design a center for seniors in Brno - Medlánky. The project of the center for seniors follows on from the pre-diploma project, the aim of which was to design an urban structure on an unused plot of land between the technology park and Medlánky. The territory is defined by area development on the south, west and east sides. Part of the territorial study was also a proposal to extend tram line No. 12 towards the area under consideration. The location of the center for seniors follows from the developed territorial study, which is attached to this diploma project. The main motive for the creation of the center for seniors was to arrange the objects in such a way that they create a "safe embrace" that will provide the residents with a sense of security. The main building is thus L-shaped with rooms facing the quiet courtyard towards the amphitheater. In the event of a social event, guests can watch the program from their balconies or windows. The remaining rooms face the street. The ground floor of the building is partially embedded in the terrain and thanks to this it naturally connects to the amphitheater. I try to create pleasant, well-lit spaces in the house, so that there is always a good atmosphere and the guests can accept this place as their new home. The capacity of the center for seniors results from the elaborated analyzes attached in this project. The home for the elderly was supposed to include all the necessary operations, such as a central dining room, library, gymnasium, space for doctors, management offices, staff changing rooms, a central laundry room and other necessary technological facilities.
Parallel numeric solution of differential equations

Lexical Analyzer for Multiprocesor Computers
Otáhal, Jiří ; Goldefus, Filip (referee) ; Čermák, Martin (advisor)
Aim of this thesis is to invent method, which should accelerate speed of the analysis of source texts with multiprocessor computers. For this purpose application runs multiple process in Unix system. Each undergoing process analyzes exact partition in source file and then closes itself. Outcome of this process are internal structures, which presents exact partition. Inter-code is sequentially built from the structures which are subsequently interpreted. This kind of parallel analysis achieves acceleration of speed on the contrary of typical sequential analysis.
