Transformace trhu, jež po revolučním roce 1989 změnila centrálně řízené hospodářství na ekonomiku s tržními principy, přinesla více možností pro vlastní iniciativu, ovšem některé skupiny postavila do marginalizované pozice. Mezi tyto patří osoby starší 50 let, jež budovaly své kariéry na pozadí jiných společenských okolností. Zažité návyky a pasivní postoj společně s nezájmem zaměstnavatelů je mnohdy vyčleňují z trhu práce. Cílem mé práce je popsat z dostupných pramenů tržní transformaci se všemi jejími dopady na změnu v pojetí kariéry a jak tyto změny znevýhodňují starší generaci. V empirické části sekundárně analyzuji data z úřadu práce, které odhalují problém pasivního a někdy až rezignujícího postoje starších osob. Příčinu tohoto stavu je ovšem nutno hledat taktéž na straně mnohdy diskriminujících zaměstnavatelů a nedokonalé institucionální pomoci. The market transformation, which changed after the revolution in 1989 the centrally planned economy to market economy principles, has brought more opportunities for personal initiative, but some groups built into the marginalized position. These include people over 50, who built their careers on the background of other social conditions. Ingrained habits and passive attitude, together with the indifference of employers have segregated older people in the labor market. The aim of my work is to describe the market transformation according to available sources, with all its implications for change in the concept of career and how these changes disadvantage older generation. In the empirical part I use data from the Labor Office, which reveal the problem of passive and even resigned attitudes of older people. The cause of this state can be among others also the discriminatory behavior of employers and imperfect institutional help.
