The thesis focuses on problem of authorship of the Internet content. It considers the question whether we can analyze the artwork purely as a closed structure of the symbols or whether it is necessary to take work as a broader structure. The first part of the thesis shows the Internet in general and its specifics it as a medium. The second part is devoted to the problem of authorship. It explains traditional view of Nelson Goodman, who examined the authenticity of artwork with regard to the internal arrangement of the elements structure of the object. The third part shows the later theories inconsistent with the views of Nelson Goodman, views of different contemporary authors who present the changes of authorship aspects in the environment which is under constant development, quickly sharing ideas and resources. New theories suggest to look beyond the authorship of the artwork domain, apply broader focous. The conclusion provides a synthesis of these views.

Comparison of graphical interface of Blesk from 1933 and 2012

This paper "Comparison of Blesk's graphic pages of 1993 and 2012" deals with the analysis of best-selling graphic presentation of the Czech tabloid Blesk. The first part is devoted to general visual characteristics of printed materials. This theoretical framework is important to determine the area under the examination and definition of the key terms which I work with in the practical part. Comparing the visual aspects of Blesk from 1993 and 2012, I selected one week from each or five issues from the daily of one week (Monday - Friday). The subsequent analysis focuses on the overall visual aspect of particular issues (format, size, margins) and the sub-characters used such as a color photograph, the arrangement of the parts with an emphasis on the title page, the title of establishment and the usage of other graphic accessories. After the description of typographic character of each period separately I focus on the chapter. The aim is to compare two files and investigate the changes that have occurred in the course of nineteen years, if there are any. The conclusion is dedicated to my personal impression from the selected material of two years and evaluates the contribution of this work.

Typography of the monthly maganize žena a móda (1949-1995)

The thesis "Typography of the monthly magazine Žena a móda (1949-1995)" deals with the graphical appearance of this magazine and describes the changes in its typography. Magazine ran from January 1949 to July 1995, when it was cancelled because of financial difficulties. The aim of this thesis is to divide the years of Žena a móda's existence into periods, depending on its specific graphical appearance. This bachelor thesis outlines the historical context, technical conditions and the influence the Marxism-Leninism had on the graphic design. Moreover, the basic vocabulary of typographical terms is included. The thesis analyses the graphical appearance of the magazine periodically, with the focus on physical qualities, typesetting, typeface, headlines, front pages or advertisement. Furthermore, the graphical appearance of the world's most famous magazines is outlined briefly towards the end of the thesis, as well as the magazine's competition after 1989. Alphabets, contents and the time. Visual communication

The theme of the diploma dissertation became a view of a field of alphabets (letters and types) in contexts of communication, history, art and education. The theoretical part is focused on historical, contemporary movements of the phenomenon all at once. Inclusive of reflecting on alphabets in art and also links to a medial communication. The second part of the diploma dissertation reacts to the strongest and the most inspiring moments. It focuses on a practical applications for art lessons. The third part [artistic] takes advantage of media knowledges and art lessons. They are interfaced into an interactive teaching material which challenges students to an active perception of visual culture.

Námětem mé diplomové práce je jednotný vizuální styl (podobor grafického designu). Diplomová práce se skládá ze tří částí - teoretické, didaktické a praktické. Teoretická část popisuje téma jednotného vizuálního stylu z hlediska historického vývoje, jeho uplatnění a postavení, především u nás v České Republice. Didaktická část navazuje výtvarnými řadami určenými pro žáky 2. stupně ZŠ. Praktická část je popisem mé výtvarné práce vycházející z tématu jednotného vizuálního stylu. Přínosem i cílem této diplomové práce, bylo objasnit problematiku jednotného vizuálního stylu jako součást komplexní komunikace značky a podnítit u dětí zájem o téma grafického designu za využití různých výtvarných technik.

Analysis of desktop publising tools and application of selected software

The bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of desktop publishing tools and application of the best-rated compromise software. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is theoretical which describes the theoretical principles of desktop publishing and multi-criteria analysis variants.
The part is called own analysis and is focused on the characteristics of desktop publishing tools, especially their strengths and weaknesses. These characteristics are based on solver´s experience with tools. Then solver performs multi-criteria analysis of variants and comparison of systems. It is performed with methods AHP and a weighted sum. Variants are compared on the basis of the criteria price, work with colours, user-friendliness and intuitive control, layout, prepress and creating of correct PDF, availability on different platforms, typography and support of fonts of OpenType format and its functions, work with vector graphics and its formats, working with raster graphics and its formats and last but not least, stability and speed of system. The software, which is evaluated as the best compromise variant, is applied and used at the composition of three sample pages for a magazine about golf.
After the analysis are compared the results of methods AHP and weighted sum each other. Than they are compared the solver´s results and results from other source.

Design and implementation of e-learning in the area of interest

The bachelor thesis Design and Implementation of e-learning in the area of interest is focused on computer typography and the area of DTP. The objective was to create a quality e-learning course, which would develop the knowledge and skills of workers who routinely manage the work with graphic programs for working with text in typesetting program Adobe InDesign. The theoretical part is conceived as a text study support to the course and deals with typography, fonts, printing materials, computer typesetting and DTP. The practical part contains the objective and the target group of the course, the needs analysis of the workplace, for which the course was created, the description of the tools that were used for creating the course and description of the structure and of the course content. The course was prepared on the basis of a synthesis of findings, which was preceded by an analysis of training needs of the target group. Educational content consists of text and instructions in the form of images, which were created by the author as screen captures in Adobe InDesign. The pilot testing of the course was realized by eight experts in the area of DTP. The final evaluation, which took the form of a questionnaire and interviews showed that e-lerning was properly elected form of education for this course and respondents accepted it with enthusiasm. Respondents rated course as the high quality one.

Typography and typeset technical documents in XeTeX

In my thesis, I will deal with typographic Unicode extension of technology TeX XeTeX, which support special charset for fonts of most world's languages, it also enables support for font technologies like TrueType and OpenType. I shall then address the history of develop of XeTeX and his implementation into the TeX. I will also closely test functionality and typographical correctness of special charsets and comparison with usage of common text editors which is seeking to address similar issues with charsets. Part of the work itself will also be drawn up in the XeTeX, which demonstrates the practical use and the functionality of this extension.

Dissertation thesis deals with the possibilities of automated documents quality evaluation. The quality is specified as the formal quality, particularly the typographic aspects of documents processing are emphasized. Documents represent the organization but they are not often checked for their formal quality level. Automated checking and evaluation would be helpful. In many areas, the attention is paid to the quality. The documents formal quality is not the main area of interest. In the literature, mainly the aesthetic or typographic aspects are concerned. However, the research showed that high-quality documents have a positive effect on readers so that the documents quality is important. The documents analysis made for different purposes is the present trend and the methods are focused on objects recognition in the page as well as on the objects classification. In this context, a number of various methods working at different documents levels were developed. Especially the artificial intelligence methods, which are primarily used for classification, can be helpful. Existing methods can be used for further work. In this thesis, a procedure for methods assessment was designed, which concentrates on methods' suitability for automated evaluation of documents quality. The selected methods should provide enough relevant data for evaluation. The important part of the thesis is the mathematical model design that describes the document by a set of parameters. Selected parameters should reflect the relevant characteristics of the document at different levels, from page elements to the whole document. The set of parameters and their values build a formal image of the document, which is one of the inputs for the quality evaluation. The other input for the quality evaluation process is the set of rules for documents which consists mainly from the typographic rules. The rules which have a positive effect on the documents quality were selected. The essential contribution to the automated evaluation is the formalization of these rules by the mathematical apparatus. The formalized rules and the document model are the inputs to the quality evaluation process. A formalized evaluation of the parameters according to the selected rules is designed to discover the information about the document quality. For this purpose, an expert system is very suitable. Apart from evaluation, it can also provide explanation and advice. The entire procedure is demonstrated on the sample document and the evaluation is described. This thesis deals with the area which is still relatively unusual and integrates various disciplines, from typography through documents analysis to the artificial intelligence. The thesis is focused on analysis and design of the automated method for documents quality evaluation with a possible further development in the future.
