Dramatic production of Francophone African authors in Czech translation

v anglickém jazyce This thesis deals with the dramatic production of Francophone African authors and the translation of their texts into Czech. The theoretical part briefly describes the history of African drama and its specific elements. The following chapters examine the perception of this specific genre in Europe - especially in France and the Czech Republic. The thesis also documents the history of the Czech festival Africa in Creation, which has been held in Prague in the first decade of the new millennium. During its existence, it presented many African authors. Later, their plays were translated into Czech within the series The Contemporary play, published by the Arts and Theatre Institute. From the point of view of translatology, the study focuses on the general theory of the drama translation (based on the theories of translation from the 2nd part of the 20th century, especially the Czech model of Jiří Levý) and the post-colonial and cultural translation theories. In general, the aim of the study is to define the problems which the translator could be faced with translating the text from the culture which is diametrically different from the target one. Characters of father and mother and their evolution in the Driss Chraïbi's autofictions

The Moroccan Driss Chraïbi belongs to the most important Francophone authors in the contemporary Maghreb literature. A lot of his works are inspired by autobiography literature and this thesis will study this part of his work. We will consider culture aspects of Driss Chraïbi's texts and focus on characters of mother and father. We will see how the traditional family model is affected by the West one, so by the European culture. The images of father develop from a patriarch tyrant to a friendly man understanding the modern world. Mother, traditionally representing the tradition and the family, becomes in certain texts fighter for the woman liberation and for women's rights. However the author does not seem to reject the tradition. The analysis focuses on these questions. At the beginning we will also introduce the author in the North African literature context and determine the part of the autofiction of Driss Chraïbi's works. Maryse Condé and her novels Heremakhonon and Moi, Tituba sorcière... Noire de Salem

The purpose of this paper is to analyze Heremakhonon (1976) and Moi, Tituba sorcière… Noire de Salem (1986), the first novel and the most successful novel, respectively, of Maryse Condé (born 1937), one of the most influential figures of 20th century francophone literature (who is as of yet nearly entirely unknown to Czech contexts and whose work has not been translated into Czech). The underlying formal element connecting these novels, i.e. a narrating protagonist, is presented as both an individual and collective identity quest, during which Maryse Condé, for (im)personal reasons, problematizes certain theoretical paradigms of identity.
Analytic catalogue of the francophone literature in the Světová literatura review 1956 - 1968

Annotation The aim of this thesis was to analyze the occurrence of francophone literature in literary review {\clqq}Světová literatura`` in the period of 1956 {--} 1968. I made a view of all francophone literature and related articles which was the resource for creating the indexes of authors, translators and translated literature. I devided the published texts in accordance with their genres and I outlined their themes. The view, the lists and the division of genres were the base for evolving the final analysis. There, I apply myself to the spectrum of the genres and themes, to the choice of authors considering their nationality, period of their life and creation and even their political involvement. Then I evaluated the contribution of the periodical and the changes in publishing the francophone literature in context of political development.
