Traits of the "cancer-prone personality" in women with breast cancer

The thesis is dedicated to the psychosocial aspects of women with breast cancer, such as stressful events, coping strategies, social support and personal and emotional factors and their possible specificity for this group of women. Aim of the theoretical part is a summary of the findings of type C personality, personality disposed to cancer and the overview of researches and particular results. The empirical part of the thesis is based on retrospective quantitative research with a focus on the number of stressful events, coping strategies, social support and features of alexithymia in women diagnosed with breast cancer (N = 70). These results were compared with a control group of women whose cancer have not been diagnosed (N = 81). The results show a significant difference in the amount of stressful events. Namely women with breast cancer have demonstrated significantly more stressful events prior to diagnosis than women without cancer. In addition, a significant difference has been found in the use of negative coping strategies which women without cancer experience using negative coping strategies more frequently than women with breast cancer. Stress Management and Coping in Manufacturing Industry

The Bachelor´s thesis is focussing on stress management and coping in manufacturing industry. In the theses are explained basic terms which are related to the topic of stress and coping. Subsequently there is explained the relationship between stress levels and emotional inteligence and the relationship between coping and the character of a person, mainly in connection with Big five traits. In the thesis is also interpreted the compatibility of the P-E theory with stress management. The current situation is analysed by survey and subsequently processed with various statistical methods. Next from the current situation analysis are layed down precausions which can be implemented by employers, however there are also set precausions which can be implemented by employees themselves.

Mental load of top management - coping with stress Ing.Mgr.Martin Pospíchal, The Faculty of Arts of Charel University in Prague, 2013 The topic of this thesis is the issue of mental load, respectively mental load in professions that are increasingly exposed to its influence. From a myriad of professions in which people are under intense mental load, this thesis examines the group of top managers, particularly in companies involved in the sale of information technologies. The objective of this thesis is primarily to capture the methods and strategies for coping with stress in this target group. From a methodological perspective, the semi-structured interview and standardized questionnaire research methods were used to identify strategies for coping with stress. The conducted research confirmed with certain degree of probability that intense mental load is an integral part of the performance of the top manager profession. Its impact is assessed as more stressful in comparison with lower job titles, particularly from the perspective of a wider range of active forms of mental load. TITLE: Perception and coping with the specific learning disabilities impacts on everyday life of children with this diagnosis. ABSTRACT This text is focused on recognition of impacts of the specific learning disabilities on everyday life as the children with this diagnosis themselves see it and the strategies used by these children in order to cope with these disabilities. The theoretical part summarizes the necessary knowledge of the early school age developmental stage, the interaction of a child with the family, and briefly the stress and the coping. The results of last year's mothers of specific learning disabilities diagnosed children research are also presented. The empirical part is based on semi-structured interviews with six children diagnosed with the specific learning disabilities attending fourth or fifth grade of primary school. Based on it's qualitative analysis, the thesis attempts to clarify how the specific learning disabilities diagnosed children perceive and experience the impacts of this disabilities on them and how do they cope with it. Rituals as a Rudimentary Product of Magical Thinking

The bachelor thesis focuses on magical thinking in the age of adulthood. The primary aim is to discover and define the particular manifestations of the magical thinking in adulthood and compare them with magical thinking in childhood. A further aim is to find a link between magical thinking and religion, and between magical thinking and field of education of participants. Research methodologies include qualitive field research accompanied by semi- structured interviews. The finding of the research show that magical thinking is more often found in child thinking, but it could be discovered in adulthood as well, there are no differences among principles and forms of magical thinking in childhood and adulthood. Magical thinking is more often found in atheists and there is no link between magical thinking and field of education of participants. The discussion concludes that magical thinking emerges in stressful situations and it is associated with anxiety and feelings of uncertainty. Magical thinking serve important functions - it is a coping strategy and it could reduce an anxiety.
Coping strategies in case of hearing loss in young age

The bachelor thesis is devoted to the topic of hearing loss in young age. The thesis is focused on the process of coping with hearing loss acquired in adolescence and young adulthood. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine ways, how people experienced the acquired deafness, how they coped with it, which processes helped them to deal with the deafness and where they found support, and vice versa what makes the coping process harder. The thesis consists of two parts - a theoretical and a practical one. The first, theoretical part describes the meaning of hearing ability and consequences of hearing impairments on human life, and focuses on defining people with hearing impairment and on specification of post- lingual deaf people in the group of people with hearing impairment. It follows up with characterization of developmental periods of adolescence and early adulthood. The main part is the chapter of stress, of coping strategies in general and of coping with hearing loss as a hard life situation specifically.
