Straka, Vojtěch ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
The goal of this paper will be to show in three single case studies the basic characteristics of nazi propaganda on the teritory of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Firstly, picturing of the enemy, both outside enemy (coverage of the war, bombing of civilians) and enemy within (primary jewish question). Because picture of the enemy was the key to the nazi propaganda itself. Than I continue with the study of the longterm, ideological efforts and goals nazi propaganda had in the protectorate. Here, the main target was czech youth and reinterpretation of the czech history itself. In the last case study i'm observing short term efforts nazis had. These efforts were driven primarily by the necesity of war production and need to use full potential of the strong czech industry. All these cases are then summarized and my goal it to show their effectivity on their respective fields of influence. (industrial production, creation of combat troops, voluntary membership in the collaboration organizations, etc.)

Rajzlová, Eva ; Hnilica, Jiří (advisor) ; Pokorný, Jiří (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the propagation of culture of the English-speaking countries, primarily American culture, in the interwar Czechoslovakia. At the same time, it examines reciprocity of the cultural relationship. In the centre of attention stands the American Institute in Prague, founded in 1931, and an analysis of all aspects of his activities. The author employed a historical method using primary source documents, chiefly records of the American Institute archived in the National Archives of the Czech Republic. The supplementary literature was utilized mainly to set the American Institute into the context of its time and to define the basic concepts - culture, cultural relationships and propaganda. The analysis of Institute's functions showed that, in comparison of the other Anglo-American clubs in Czechoslovakia, Institute's activity covered much wider spectrum of cultural exchange. Therefore, regarding cultural relationships with the English-speaking countries, American Institute in Prague was quite unique within the Czechoslovak state.

The influence of propaganda in writtings of chosen autors of the first half of the 20th century
Lenomarová, Anna ; Hlaváček, Antonín (advisor) ; Hříbková, Radka (referee)
IN MY THESIS, I WANT TO FOCUS ON THE INFLUENCE OF PROPAGANDA IN THE WORKS OF CHOSEN AUTHORS OF THE FIRST HALF OF THE 20TH CENTURY. IN THE THEORETICAL PART, I AM GOING TO TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE IDEOLOGY ITSELF AND PUT IT INTO BROADER CONTEXT. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THEORETICALLY ANALYSE THE CHOSEN AUTHORS AND THEIR WORKS. IN THE PRACTICAL PART I AM GOING TO FOCUS ON THE SELECTED WORKS, NAMELY GORKIJ'S МАТЬ, OSTROVSKY'S Как закалялась сталь AND OTHERS, AND ANY INFLUENCE (NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE) OF THE POLITICS ON RUSSIAN LITERATURE. THE AIM OF MY THESIS IS TO CONFIRM OR DISPROVE THE DEGREE OF THE INFLUENCE OF THE SOCIALISTIC POWER ON THE CHOSEN WORKS AND IMPARTIALLY JUDGE THE QUALITY OF THE PROPAGANDISTIC WORK. I came to the conclusion that the quality of the official soviet works can differ substantially. On Maxim Gorky's example I showed more complex wording and I focused on the religious layer on his sample work Mother. On the contrary, in Nikolai A. Ostrovsky's How the Steel Was Tempered I confirmed the simplicity of the work. Unofficial authors in my work help to better express the motives and the attitude of socialistic realism. This thesis focuses on the fabricated image and the public representation of King Bhumibol - the current King of Thailand in two contemporary documentary films "My King" in 2012 and "Bhumibol - The People's King" in 2013. The primary purpose of this study is to examine how the fabricated image of the current King of Thailand has been constructed through the utilization of contemporary documentary films. The study argued that Bhumibol has borrowed the fabricated image and public representation from the European context, i.e. the fabricated public representation of Louis XIV. Indeed, the study has been inspired by the work of Peter Burke in 1992 entitled "The Fabrication of Louis XIV". The aforementioned work of Burke, articles on the analysis of documentary films, literatures about the importance of images in Thai society were considered altogether in the empirical part of this study. The study pinpointed eleven specific attributes of the public representation of Bhumibol from the two documentary films. The characteristics consisted of "August", "Father of the People", "Generous", "Godlike", "Glorious", "Hero of the Nation", "Invincible", "Laborious", "Modernized", "Pious", and "Wise". On the basis of the results of this research, it can be concluded that the public representation of Bhumibol does...
Ideological Influencing in the Czechoslovak Children's Magazines of the 1970s
Vondráčková, Kateřina ; Rákosník, Jakub (advisor) ; Pullmann, Michal (referee)
(in English): The aim of this thesis is to characterize ideological influence on the Mateřídouška magazine's pages in years between 1969-1979. The stress is laid down on the reader and their right to have a proper childhood in the period of so-called "normalization". I tried to solve the problem by analysing the previous evolution of the magazine and a consecutive analysis of given period's selected volumes. The research did show that Mateřídouška does place a great stress on tradition and it is necessary to evaluate it as a whole unit. Despite the outstanding return to the real socialism the ideology does assume a specific form. On the basis of discovered facts we can characterize this form in a more precise way and present a picture that children could have seen and read on the pages of Mateřídouška. Klíčová slova (anglicky): Czechoslovakia, social history, period of normalization, propaganda, ideology, children's magazine, Mateřídouška, fairy tale, childhood
