Multi-function Cultural Centre "Creative City" in Brno
Sekaninová, Jitka ; Novák,, Petr (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor)
The thesis is a radical reconstruction and completion of a unique brownfield for cultural purposes, incubator of creativity, business and housing. The building is a former penitentiary near the city center between streets Bratislavská, Soudní and Cejl. It is a historical building which is currently unused. The complex for starting young entrepreneurs in a field of culture is supposed to serve as a center for a general public of art, particularly for the areas of so called industry of creativity such as architects, designers, painters, sculptors and also musicians, designers and developers of computer games. The building is historically valuable, especially due to the original vaults in the old part of the building which remain preserverd as much as possible. Only a part of a west wing has been demolished in order to construct a new expressive form as a shape of crystal which attracts the public from the Cejl street as it could be easily overlooked otherwise. The crystal has become a dominant part of the building and servers as a main entrance. A newer, less valuable part of the complex from the Bratislavská street, has been razed so there could be an underground parking and new extensions built serving the commercial and administrative purposes. The extenstions are the two operationally and structurally separated buildings allowing opening the entire area. A coridor which these two extensions create in between expands in a direction towards the legacy parts of the complex, thus the passers-by from a general public are pulled into the creative center through an attractive front-place. The original layou of each wing is retained what influenced their functional use decently. There are studios and workshops for artists located in the existing two floors along with multi-purpose hall, design market and theater hall with a trial rooms. There are additional studios, school of art with drawing and reading rooms and commercial areas situated in the extended floors.

Integration of People after Serving a Sentence in Society
Vigner, Martin ; Kváča, Vladimír (advisor) ; Hejzlarová, Eva (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on people who have served their sentences. Specifically, it maps the success in their social integration after release from prison. The theoretical basis of the work lies in the multifactor criminogenetic theories and concepts of social exclusion. Multifactor criminogenetic theories are mentioned as one of the foundations of the penitentiary prediction tool SARPO (Comprehensive Analysis of Risks and Needs of Convicts). This tool is used in the work for better orientation in the needs and risks of people in the process of release. The theoretical anchoring of the work also deals with the problem of recidivism and adaptation after release from prison. And the issue of homelessness in connection with substance abuse and also in connection with crime. Furthermore, attention is paid to the problem of indebtedness, which can complicate the social situation of people after serving a sentence. The factual context of the researched topic is devoted to the causes of the difficult resocialization of released prisoners and to the reasons why recidivists are most often prosecuted. There are also some important statistical data concerning the number of persons imprisoned in the Czech Republic in comparison with EU countries. Attention is also paid to the amendment of the Insolvency Act...

Prison with general security regime - high security department
Kvízová, Kateřina ; Šotolová, Eva (advisor) ; Mlčková, Marie (referee)
The thesis aims to describe and analyze the process of professional treatment with emphasis on reducing criminogenic risks with convicted men placed into guarded prisons in section with a high level of security. Convicted criminals show diverse degrees of riskiness and different structures of criminogenic factors. In order for the Prison Service of Czech Republic to work with them effectively, it needs to know their criminological profile. For this stated purpose, it analyzes relevant anamnestic and special pedagogical data. The content of the treatment program is then determined based on their evaluation, which takes into account the variation of pedagogical, socio-legal and psychological approaches and methods, in regards to particular identified high-risk criminogenic factors and needs. The own research of the study, which forms the core of the practical/empiric part of the thesis, consists of the analysis of the self-reported assessed risk factors and subjectively percieved reactivity (alternatively analogous therapeutic responsiveness) and appropriate penitentiary-pedagogical interconnection of available treatment program activities. The design of the research project is methodologically processed in a combination approach with a suitable link of both qualitative and quantitative methods of...

Prison Fellowship International. Spectrum of activities and current problems.
GASČAROV, Patrik
Bachelor thesis is focused on an organization of Prison fellowship international and on its current activity and the development status. The theoretical part describes the different approaches of European countries to the reintegration of prisoners into society and their philosophy. Also the evolution of the organization is captured and the various programs that the community realizes are presented. At the end of the theoretical part there are listed examples of a good experiences, in which I´m mentioning successfully applied projects, which the Czech Republic are interested about and have the potential to be extended. In the practical part I used qualitative research techniques with structured interviews and open questions. Ten respondents were interviewed in the research - three respondents were employees and seven respondents were volunteers who are participating in the community. The aim of the thesis is to describe development of an organization, clarification and designation of the problems that are currently facing the organization, and on the basis of problems propose optimized solutions. Two research questions were asked to achieve the goals of this thesis. The first question explores the problems that accompany the development of activities of the International Prison community. The second question seeks to determine what possible solutions to existing problems the respondents are suggesting. From the results arised from the practical part we can see, that the organization is mainly missing finances and employees to develop its activities. The majority of the respondents also agreed that a major problem is the low level of organization of social communication activity with public or public relations (PR). Based on the results were suggested optimized solutions (worker to be hired for the position of fundraiser, cooperation with companies from the profit sector, projects and improvement of public relations).
Current problems of Czech prison service seen from the released prisoners point of view.
KŮS, Jan
The Bachelor Thesis "Topical Problem of the Czech Prison System from the Viewpoint of the Persons Released from Prison" aims to make a contribution to the discussion on the topical problems of the Czech prison system, also with respect to opinions of the released prisoners. This approach is surely extraordinary but I suppose that it is an interesting aspect of this scope of problems, which are very controversy among the experts as well as laymen. The first part of the work presents (following a brief historic background) a description of topical problems of the Czech prison system, which are frequently discussed in both professional and popular press, in other media as well as small talks of ordinary people. The main part however consists in a thorough survey of opinions of the people who experienced the Czech prison as prisoners, and now, after having been released, they endeavour to be re-integrated into our free society. I am sure that the work is significant for development of the Czech theory and practice of the prison service. This is mainly because the work points out the fact that the on-going reformation of the prison system should also consider the opinions of the persons who experienced the prison as prisoners. In the conclusion, some original recommendations are formulated in order to optimize the process of imprisonment in the Czech Republic based on the data ascertained.

Selected aspects of the legal regulation and organization of the StB Secret Police between 1945 and 1969
Vyskočil, Zdeněk ; Šouša, Jiří (advisor) ; Soukup, Ladislav (referee)
The broad subject of this diploma thesis would be the Czechoslovak Secret Police (StB) during the years 1945-1969; and, more narrowly, certain aspects of its organization and activities in relation to the then applicable legislation. The overriding objective, which was reflected in this legislation, was the protection of the Communist political system, the regime. This regime protection goal clearly influenced the evolution and organization of the StB and the related policies on the imprisonment of those individuals that represented a threat to the State and the State System. Similar general principles and policies have basically remained in effect into the current period. The paper begins with an Introduction and Preface, which take a look at the events and nature of the society in this post-World War II period. This material is derived from an examination of historical source materials. The remainder of the paper is divided into four additional Chapters with related subsections. The Introduction and Preface focus on the nature and state of the society in the immediate post-war period, which provided the context and background used for the development of the new legislation and the newly created institutions developed for the protection of this new social order and the punishment and incarceration...
