Comparison of Czech television news channels ČT 24 and Z1

Diploma thesis "Comparison of Czech Television news channels ČT24 and Z1" deals with collation of two channels aimed at continuous news broadcasting: public service ČT24 and private Z1. The thesis explores in what ways is signified dissimilar targeting at different goal groups of viewers. Analysed is not only the whole broadcasting scheme of both channels, but mainly the content of primetime news broadcasts, particularly in two specific periods: firstly at the beginnings of telecasting of the surveyed channels and secondly after one year of broadcasting in September 2009. The thesis attempts to determine the congruent features as well as the differences of the channels, using quantitative analysis it depicts the pattern of primetime news broadcasts with regard to formal and thematic aspect. In detail the thesis focuses on economical, foreign and regional broadcast and for instance the exploitation of live broadcasting. Since the analysis was accomplished in two different time periods the thesis also deals with changes in programme schemes and primetime news that were taken in action within the surveyed period. HOW TO FILM A DRAMA

This thesis focuses on film adaptations of theatre productions from the point of view of a film producer. The first part introduces the issue of film adaptations in general - from the historical and critiques's point of view - and brings up author' s idea that in order to produce more than just an archive recording of the production, it's essential to produce a film that can autonomously compete in the film industry. Next it defines "Theatrum Cinematographica", which uses maximum of film principles to transfer a theatre production into a film form while maintaining the main idea and characteristics of the original. The second part defines the work of a producer of independent movies in Czech milieu. The third part of this thesis reports the problem of production and distribution of "Theatrum Cinematographica" and look into the role of it's producer from the pre-production to promotion and distribution of the film. Based on five selected films and interviews with their producers the thesis presents several obstacles and advantages of production of film adaptations of theatre productions.

Organizing of open-air opera performances and festivals

This thesis deals with the organizing of open-air opera festivals and performances. Attention will be given to such projects taking place in the amphitheaters or in the castle courtyards. The aim of the thesis is to pay attention to the specifics that go along with the organization of open-air opera projects. After a brief summary of the historical evolution the specifics of the theatre operation follows as well as an overview of the most important open-air opera events in the Czech Republic. The core of the work lies in the analysis of two events: The particular performances arranged by the agency Croce in Jindřichův Hradec and especially the festival Loketské kulturní léto (Loket Cultural Summer) in the region of Karlovy Vary. An attention is also paid to the history of the spaces. The work concludes with the evaluation of the position of Loket Cultural Summer between other similar projects as well as its position within the region. In conclusion, there is a proposed opera dramaturgy connected to both analyzed areas. The work also includes plenty of pictures.

THE GENRE AND OPERATIONAL SPECIFICS OF A CABARET

The bachelor thesis characterises the specifics of the cabaret and describes various types of operating the cabaret. An emphasis is put on cabaret in conditions of the Czech Republic. History, evolution of the genre and the current situation is analysed. A special attention is paid to the Prague Cabaret Calembour where the author of the thesis performs.
The aim of the thesis is to provide a complex overview and to describe cabaret as a phenomenon that has played considerable role in history of a theatre. What more, the cabaret is alive and still brings a great potential.
