Bártová, Anna ; Dudová, Radka (advisor) ; Mazák, Jaromír (referee)
The aim of the presented work is to present problematic aspects of the work of peer consultants in the field of mental health care, i.e., in psychiatric hospitals, social services and leisure clubs. The theoretical part will present the context from which the position grows and comes- the concept of mental illness and stigmatization of mental illness, as well as the project of deinstituonalization of the mental health care system. The theoretical part of the work is then concluded with an introduction to the position of the peer consultant. In the practical part I deal with the problematic aspects themselves by the means of semi-structured interviews. Aspects such as the scope of work of the peer consultant, experience with colleagues and clients, requirements for the position, the topic of the future and the work procedure and finally also the issue of the legislative anchoring of this position. Racial Socialization Strategies and Practises of Mothers Raising Biracial Children
Niklová, Olga ; Dudová, Radka (advisor) ; Mlynář, Jakub (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine racial socialization strategies and practices of white Czech mothers raising biracial black and white children. The research question is theoretically framed by critical race theory perspective. Data were obtained based on an exploratory approach through semi-structured interviews with ten mothers of underage children. Thematic analysis revealed some of the strategies, practices and concepts described in the Western societies. Also, distinct themes in the Czech context emerged, mainly due to the racial homogeneity of the Czech society. The main findings indicate an identification of specific racial socialization strategy connected to hypervisibility of the children, barriers mothers face in developing race related competencies and the absence of preparation for bias.
The Economic Situation of Single Mothers
Kalačová, Michaela ; Vlček, Josef (advisor) ; Dudová, Radka (referee)
Approximately 250 thousand single-parent families, mostly mothers as principal breadwinners, are currently living in the Czech Republic. The insufficient financial security means an important limitation of these families, partly caused by the worsened situation of single mothers at the job market. The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to find out what the financial situation of single-parent families in the Czech Republic was in 2018. I took advantage the official statistics of the Czech Statistical Office and the Czech Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, which enabled me to carry out a secondary data analysis and find out what the economic situation was in single-mother families in 2018 and how it evolved since 2008. I compared the data with the data on nuclear family, which made me more comprehensive picture about the economic situation of single-mother families, which has improved over the years 2008 - 2018. Keywords: economic situation, single-parent families, single-mother, incomes, expenses, the Czech Republic
Gender inequalities on the labour market of the Czech Republic
Škorvagová, Nikola ; Mudd, Dana (advisor) ; Dudová, Radka (referee)
My work focuses on gender inequalities appearing in the Police of the Czech Republic, specifically police job positions requiring administrative work and field work which is primarily considered a masculine domain. I use an analysis of in-depth interviews with police officers who work in those places and I try to map how these women perceive and interpret gender inequalities in their jobs. how they deal with them and what role gender inequalities play in their decision whether to work in a masculine profession like this. The work uses the theory of gender perspectives, which builds on the argument that the labor market produces unequal conditions and unequal treatment for individuals who move here. The results of my work show that police officers are aware of the occurrence of gender inequalities appearing in various spheres in these positions. Respondents problematize some of the exposed gender inequalities respondents and indicate their possible solutions, some they perceive as natural and completely adapt to them. Keywords: gender, inequality, labour market, police
Impact of divorce on their children's education
Kostelecká, Veronika ; Hamplová, Dana (advisor) ; Dudová, Radka (referee)
This thesis focuses on the impact of parental divorce on children's educational attainment. Education level is considered to be an important predictor for life trajectories. Divorce, on the other hand, impairs the stability of the former family unit and worsens the situation of households and their members. Children are negatively emotionally and mentally affected by these changes. They show externalizing behavioural problems, and their future romantic relationship are more likely to end up in divorce. We use data from the Czech Household Panel Survey to analyse the impact of divorce on children's education. Our results from multiple linear regression show that divorce negatively affects the years of education attained by men and women. Moreover, results from binary logistic regression show that the odds ratio to obtain a university degree of men and women who have experienced parental divorce is lower in comparison to children from intact families. We argue that parental divorce has a negative impact on educational attainment of their children. Key words: Family, education, divorce, inequalities

Marková Volejníčková, Romana ; Dudová, Radka (advisor) ; Vidovičová, Lucie (referee) ; Nešporová, Olga (referee)
dissertation thesis: Construction of motherhood and feminity in the three generations Author: Mgr. Romana Marková Volejníčková This dissertation aims to analyze the norms of "good" motherhood, discourses, and social practices related to these norms, and their connection and interrelationship with the issue of agency and women's/mothers' free choice under specific conditions over the course of three defined periods. In particular, in this study, I focused on the prevalent conditions (be it legislation, i.e. family and social policies, expert discourses in the field of psychology, demography, pediatrics, etc., but also societal expectations of women within family and employment) during the three defined periods. I analyzed how individual standards of "good" motherhood and "proper" child care are defined and conceived under these circumstances, in which the interviewed mothers carried out their motherhood projects. Furthermore, I focused on what choices mothers could make in these normative conditions, what choices they considered available to them and realistic in each one period, and whether some of the mothers' personal traits may have bolstered or diminished their ability to make informed choices concerning their motherhood project. In the three periods examined, the manifestations of biopower...
Reflection of the Impacts of Social Change After the Velvet Revolution in Biographical Narratives
Corradi, Veronika ; Mlynář, Jakub (advisor) ; Dudová, Radka (referee)
This bachelor's thesis is focused on the reflection of social changes after the Velvet Revolution in 1989. Data were collected by a combination of a biographical and problem- oriented interview. This thesis has a total of 10 interviews, all with women. Two main characteristics and conditions of this group of women are: 1. born between the years 1965 and 1972 in Prague, 2. live in Prague during the Velvet Revolution. Subsequent analysis of the interview was conducted in two steps. The first one was creating a story map. The second step was coding, which is used in grounded theory. Structural reading was also used during the analysis of the interviews. The outcome of the analysis is identification of six main impacts. Most of the impacts were connected to changes in personal life. Other impacts were related to the labour market and tech development.
