Application for Support of Agility
Marková, Natália ; Tesařová, Alena (referee) ; Herout, Adam (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to design, develop, and test a smartphone app that allows dog owners and trainers to track and analyze agility training for their dogs. The app uses the Firebase database to store its data and is developed using the cross-platform mobile app development framework Flutter. The dog agility training has been thoroughly analyzed for the development of the app. The design of the app is concentrated on providing a user-friendly interface for documenting training sessions, monitoring progress, and offering statistic evaluation. The evaluation’s results will demonstrate how popular the software is by dog trainers and owners as well as how beneĄcial it is in assisting them in enhancing their agility training methods. Also, the user-friendliness and level of user satisfaction of the app will be assessed. Ultimately, the purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate how mobile technology may improve dog agility training and how the developed app offers dog trainers and owners a useful tool for tracking and enhancing their dogs’ agility performance.
Do alternative search engines comparable to Google exist?
The right to be forgotten on the internet
Jůzová, Jana ; Papík, Richard (advisor) ; Šlerka, Josef (referee)
Diploma thesis The Right to be Forgotten on the Internet applies to the functions of Internet search engines, search algorithms and the impact of the digital footprint that on the Internet user essentially leaves. With this issue is, on the one hand, inseparably linked the protection of personal data in the online environment, on the other hand the constitutionally enshrined right to information and other fundamental rights. Not ignored should be also the risk of censorship of the Internet. An application of the right to be forgotten adds a whole new dimension to this problems. The right to be forgotten is inferred from the judgment of the European Court of Justice on 13 May 2014 in the case Costeja versus Google Spain, where an Internet user named Mario Costeja Gonzáles first succeeded with a request of removal of unflattering information about himself from results of the search engine Google. Thus a reform precedent will have a big impact on seeking information on the Internet in the future, since the pronouncement of the judgment about the removal of his personal data may ask any European Internet user. The thesis aims to analyze the issue of right to be forgotten in the context of searching for information on the Internet in the European Internet environment - it means not to be searched on the...
Finding synergy on the internet - Google case
Kosinová, Kamila ; Köppl, Daniel (advisor) ; Jirků, Jan (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Finding synergy on the internet - the Google case" focuses on the topic of media conglomerates and Google, which some actors consider as a media company. In the paper I talk about Google in more detail - describing its activities, historical development and advertising tools it offers to the customers. Regarding advertising, I analyze in detail online and print advertising, their characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. One chapter is devoted to the development of investments in advertising. The focus is on various media types in recent years and the comparison of digital advertising with print advertising. The paper deals with print and online media, their characteristics and development. Specifically I focus on the media convergence and its impact on the functioning of media concerns. At the same time, it describes the changes that are associated with it. The paper is also dedicated to the relationships between Google and publishers and whether the relationships are based on cooperation or competition. To map the topic, I used a desk research method and worked with secondary data from various sources.
Google Econometrics: An Application to the Czech Republic
Platil, Lukáš ; Horváth, Roman (advisor) ; Červinka, Michal (referee)
This thesis examines the applicability of Google Econometrics - the use of search volume data of particular queries as explanatory variables in time se- ries modeling - in the case of the Czech Republic. We analyze the contribu- tion of Google data by comparing out-of-sample nowcasting performance and in-sample fit with control variables in three related areas: using an auto- regressive model for unemployment, vector autoregression and logit models for GDP and household consumption, and Granger causality test for consum- er confidence. The improvement in quality of unemployment nowcasting is modest but statistically significant; sentiment index based on Google queries shows reciprocal relationship with the official Consumer Confidence Indicator, and it also provides superior nowcasts for household consumption as well as in- sample fit in logit models; its performance in GDP nowcasting is average among control variables. In overall, the results suggest that Google Econometrics is applicable also to the Czech Republic, despite the fact that the internet penetration rate and Google popularity was lower over the analyzed period compared with developed economies where these methods were usually tested. In the future, Google data may be used together with other leading and coincident indica- tors to...

Information Technology as a Challenge for EU Law Google - Abuse of Dominant Position within the EU
Kruľová, Katarína ; Šmejkal, Václav (advisor) ; Svobodová, Magdaléna (referee)
Information Technology as a Challenge for EU Law Google - Abuse of Dominant Position within the EU Abstract Google is primarily an ad-centric platform-based ecosystem and its services are daily used by millions of consumers, many without any monetary compensation. However, despite this undeniable benefit, due to its anti-competitive conduct (abuse of its dominant position) within the EEA, the European Commission had to intervene and impose fines and remedies on Google in order to restore competition on the merits and cease further consumer harm. The objective of this thesis is to establish, whether it was the conduct of Google which caused consumer harm, in qualitative terms of diminishing consumer choice and stifling innovation, or whether it was the allegedly interventionist approach of the European Commission, established through the remedies stipulated in the analysed decisions, which caused it. To reach this objective, firstly, the economic realities of multisided platforms are explained in Chapter 1. Afterwards, in Chapter 2, the specification of consumer harm in the digital markets coupled with the factors which influence consumer harm are discussed. Then, in Chapters 3 to 5 three separate analyses of three separate decisions on Google's abuse of dominant position are presented - namely - Google...
