The Quality of Life of People with Physical Disabilities

The bachelor thesis focuses on the topic Quality of Life of People with Physical Disabilities. The aim of the thesis is to map the issue of factors influencing the quality of life of people with physical disabilities. The research was actualized on the basis of a qualitative survey. On the basis of the set goals, the main research question has been defined: Which factors affect the quality of life of people with disabilities? The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is divided into three main chapters, so-called key units. The first of the chapters clarifies the issue of physical disability, which the work focuses on. The second chapter deals with the life's quality, explains the concept and principles of quality of life. The third chapter introduces the care of people with disabilities, focuses primarily on coordinated rehabilitation. The practical part describes the aims of the thesis, the specific questions, the methodology of the survey and the techniques of collecting data. To achieve the goal of the practical part, open coding was chosen. The selected technique of collecting data has been the in-depth interview and analysis of case studies. After examining the issue, factors influencing the quality of life of people with physical disabilities were identified. Key factors include family support, access to society, sport, transport, rehabilitation, finance, contact with people with physical disabilities, or various aids. The thesis can help eliminate negative factors influencing the lives of people with physical disabilities and, as a result, this thesis can lead to reflection on how to improve the lives of these individuals.
Social enviroment in family with disabled child

The given Diploma Thesis focuses on social environment in the families with disabled children. The first three chapters describe the process of socialization and its impact on human development, then a family creating an environment for primary socialization and finally the third chapter describes examples of physical disabilities and specifics related to socialization of disabled people. This phenomena, examined and verified through the qualitative research, constitutes the issue of the fourth chapter. The qualitative survey is based on semi-structured interviews, followed by their open-coding assessment. The survey demonstrates changes, both in the family and in the family´s social environment, which occurred after the birth of a child with physical disability, or after detecting a diagnosis as a consequence of the acquired disability. The topic in question also discusses difficulties associated with care of a children with physical disability, as for the time, mental, social and other requirements.

This bachelor thesis focuses on the use of therapies in pre-school children. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The teoretical part is focused on the definition of disability and its types. It further defines concepts such as pre-school age, a system of comprehensive rehabilitation and therapy. Practical part I realized in kondergarten at the center ARPIDA, o.p.s. in České Budějovice and in Kindergarten for the disabled in Liberec. The practical part is devoted to children with physical disabilities in pre-school age. It also involved the realization of research using qualitative methods such as interviewing and observation. At the end of my work, I want to point out that therapy for children with physical disabilities is important and effective.

Subjective pereption of Quality of life of people after spinal injury

The thesis deals with the subjective perception of quality of life of persons that have suffered a spinal cord injury. The Theoretical part is devoted to the quality of life, its definitions, concepts, factors and measuring. Further, it focuses on spinal cord injuries and their consequences with regard to functionality of extremities and organs. It describes types of handicap, process and components of physical therapy. It also deals with psychological stress of a person dealing with the injury and its consequences. Focus is in particular applied to coping strategies and adaptation mechanisms. The third chapter of the Practical part is devoted to the quality of life of a specific target group, i.e. of persons that have suffered spinal cord injury. It introduces the factors and specific aspects contributing to the perception of quality of life. It also addresses some of the frequent mistakes and stereotypes in approaches to people with handicap. In the Empirical part, we have found out that people who suffered spinal cord injury perceive the lower level of quality of life in the area of health and relationships. The thesis ,,The social program of support for a client with physical handicap" is devided into two parts. The theoretical part presents the filosofy of the spirit and body, the physicality, body dissability, cerebral palsy and the Act No. 108/2006 Coll., on social services. The empirical part consists of the case managment of the client with cerebral palsy. I describe the goal of the thesis here and the method of collecting data. I also introduce my respondent in this part and mention the tasks of the research. The chapter called ,,Data and it's interpretation" consists of the qualitative interview. The aim of the interview is to show in what extent my respondent use a social services. The interview is the part of the thesis.
Stimulation of people with physical and multiple disabilities - using the TheraSuit Method

The thesis entitled "Stimulation of people with physical and multiple disabilities - using the TheraSuit Method" focuses on the using of different stimulation methods in the care of people with physical and multiple disabilities and is aimed in particular mentioned method TheraSuit and its modifications (Klim-Therapy) whose main element is a special support suit. In the Czech Republic, this method has been used for relatively short time. It is a little widespread, especially due to financial demands. The clients have to pay the therapy almost themselves. Therefore, the thesis aims to gather available information about the method using special support suit. Another objective is to obtain a quantitative overview of the research on the awareness and attitudes of adult clients of selected institutions for people with physical and multiple disabilities, their parents of children with physical and multiple disabilities and staff who work with these people, to discuss methods and new methods of stimulation at all. The thesis also focuses on other stimulation methods used in selected institutions providing services to peoples with physical and multiple disabilities.
Boccia, specifications of the game and possible factors influencing the performance of a player

Title: Boccia, its specifications and possible factors affecting the performance of a player. Aim: The main aim of this thesis is to describe the game boccia as a top level sport. The thesis is also focused on topics connected with the issues of fair play and various factors which might complicate fair play maintaining in this sport. Methodology: In the theoretical part of the thesis boccia is described as a unique sport offering active sport to people with severe physical disabilities - for example spastic quadriplegia. The knowledge of adaptive sport and boccia is briefly summarized. The thesis focuses not only on history, rules, classification, equipment but the interesting aspects such as feelings of players and doubts of spectators are described too. Boccia is defined as a game of many specifications which might be considered as interfering with fair play. The empirical part presents a qualitative research. It's based on processed semi- structured interviews with committed top level boccia players. The research included interviews with 10 players, 2 women and 8 men.
