BRABENCOVÁ, Markéta
Homelessness is a serious problem which noticeably affects all dimensions of human life. This phenomenon relates primarily to cities and their inhabitants take specific stands on homelessness, which are positive or negative. The aim of this bachelor work is to describe attitudes of school-age children to homelessness. In theoretical section I will try to give as precise definition of homelessness as possible. I will deal with its reasons, I will describe how homeless people live and I will focus on facilities, which help these people (night shelters, low-threshold facilities, reception centres etc.). In the practical part I will try to clarify which stands schoolchildren take on this issue. I will try to make an analysis by means of quantitative research, specifically via questionnaires at schools.

Košťálová, Veronika ; Fišerová, Sylvie (advisor) ; Francová, Pavla (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Media Image of Homeless People in Selected Czech Media" deals with the construction of the media image of homelessness in daily newspapers MF Dnes and Hospodářské noviny. The examined period is from 1st December 2011 to 30th November 2012. The aim of this work is to analyze and interpret the relations between particular media contents that are related to the phenomenon of homelessness. The bachelor thesis focuses on possible differences between the analyzed newspapers as well. This work also attempts to compare the media image of homeless people and the outputs of public opinion research. The methodological approach to media image interpretation is the semiotic analysis. According to the analysis results, there is no specific way (neither positive nor negative) of presenting the homeless people that would predominate in the selected newspapers. The differences were not even detected within the individual newspapers. However, Hospodářské noviny are discussing this issue far less than MF Dnes. This might be caused by the large number of regional news that MF Dnes provides every day, while Hospodářské noviny are more focused on the business and economy issues. The results of public opinion surveys revealed mostly negative attitude to homeless people, these findings were also...

The thesis deals with the problem of homeless people dying in the region of Český Krumlov. It focuses on homelessness, the causes of homelessness and also the posibilities of help. Further, the thesis encompasses information about dying and death, including the death of homeless people.Their death is connected to statements about organising social funerals, including available information from the Municipality of Český Krumlov and how many social funerals were organised between the years 2014-2018. A very often used technique at work is a semi-structured interview with social workers from the social department of the Municipality of Český Krumlov, Kaplice and Vyšší Brod and the caretaking personnel of the Hospital Český Krumlov, ltd. The individual testimonies are compared between each other. The testimonies of the respondents go allong the whole thesis where there is an effort of confrontation of information from professional literature and the interception of reality from experience. Another key source for this thesis is the evaluation of data from questionnaires given to people without a home that stay arond the area of Český Krumlov and focused on finding out their opinion on death and dying. The topic is accompanied by many ethical contexts. Firstly the fact of surviving as a homeless person, secondly the level of help that is provided by the state and what are the limits of the help possibilities. And last but not least, how this help is acutaly used and perceived by the homeless people.

Posibilites of integration homeless people into Czech society
Košťálová, Veronika ; Háva, Petr (advisor) ; Tušková, Eva (referee)
The phenomenon of social exclusion and homelessness has been gradually coming to the forefront of interest in the Czech Republic in connection with the economic and political transformations that occurred after 1989. One problem is the insufficient effectiveness of social integration policies, predominated by only isolated solutions for the most blatant consequences. The aim of this work is to compare and evaluate selected social integration policy documents within the framework of the European multilevel system of government. The current possibilities for the social reintegration of homeless people into Czech society will be assessed on the basis of the results of this analysis. This work also attempts to validate published causes of homelessness for a selected group of homeless Czech people. In the empirical part a combination of qualitative research methods is used (semi-structured interviews with homeless people) together with a comparative analysis of the formulated goals of the social integration policies within the framework of the European multilevel system of government. Through this research it was found that the problem of the effectiveness of social integration in the Czech Republic is determined in particular by the excessive generality of the formulated goals at national level. One...
Issues of Homelessness and its Motivation
CEJPOVÁ, Anne
The phenomenon of homelessness represents an extreme expression of social exclusion and poverty. The numbers of homeless people increase as unemployment rate, high pressure and modern day societal demands on individual increase. This thesis deals with the internal and external factors that lead to this phenomenon as well as the internal and external factors that help to reintegrate them into society. The theoretical aspect discusses issues of homelessness ? concept definition, types and causes of homelessness. It also highlights the motivation and process of change in client behavior. It concludes by describing forms and types of social work associated with these types of clients. The empirical part discusses causes of homelessness and clients' motivation to change their lifestyle. The methodological approach employed is quantitative. Data was collected with the use of questionnaires from clients in low-threshold centre in Brno. The research results show that the most common causes of homelessness are material reasons associated to job loss, debt and loss of housing. Other causes include relationship problems, failed partnerships and dysfunctional family relationships. More personal causes are mental or physical disability as well as various types of addiction. This research is also focused on internal and external motivational factors leading to a change in lifestyle of homeless people. On the one hand, the results show that most homeless people are internally motivated by the desire to start a family, to have a stable background, a dignified life and money. On the other hand, they feel externally motivated by the offer of social services, the possibility of selling the Nový prostor magazine or even by family and friends. The results of this research can be used to provide feedback to organizations dealing with issues of homelessness, or to compile a professional magazine article.
Experiencing the reality of homelessness by clients of the St. Paul´s house in České Budějovice city charity
HORALOVÁ, Nela
Homelessness is a social phenomenon whose consequences affect an entire group of people and which is a part of life of the society. My thesis deals with the reality of homelessness experienced by clients the House of St. Paul in České Budějovice. The aim is to determine the causes of homelessness among clients of the House of St. Paul and learn how clients experience the reality of homelessness. In the theoretical part, I focus on specific problems associated with homelessness in the Czech Republic and services that are provided to the affected people. This is followed by a description of the structure and activities of a particular facility designated for homeless people, the House of St. Paul in České Budějovice. In the practical part I focus on finding the most common causes of this problem. The most common causes of homelessness among the surveyed clients were loss of a job or housing, alcohol and drug addiction, inability to successfully rejoin society after leaving a prison or a family breakdown. At the same time I also examine how these people experience their complicated situation. I have found out that none of the clients is satisfied with this situation, and that most of them are trying to change their life. They are looking for a job and a home, but the reintegration of these people back into normal life is very problematic. I work with qualitative research. Data for the research were gained directly from clients of the House of St. Paul through structured interviews. The interview consisting of nine questions was held with a total of ten clients. I think that this thesis could help reveal the causes of homelessness and how the people experience their difficult situation and how they try to fight it. And because the House of St. Paul is the only facility of this type in the region, this work could become a motivation for other cities to establish a similar facility.
