Bakalářská práce poskytuje překlad dvou textů, populárně naučného a odborného. U překladu obou textůje poskytnuta analýza. V komentáři můžeme najít analýzu překladu, kde je rozebráno, z jakých důvodů se autor rozhodl pro daný způsob překladu spolu s analýzou typických překladatelských překážek v daném textu a jeho žánru.V závěru se nachází porovnání předpokládaných překladatelských překážek s praxí. Dále rozebírá a porovnává tyto dva texty a jejich žánry z překladatelského hlediska.
Knowledge of Idioms in Basic School Pupils

This thesis focuses on phraseology and its integration into the teaching of Czech language and literature in primary school. The aim is to present a detailed analysis of a research investigation focused on the knowledge of idioms among pupils of a selected primary school. In the theoretical part of the thesis, firstly, important concepts in the field of phraseology are defined - definition, characteristics and functions of idioms, their updating. Subsequently, it is observed how the phraseology curriculum is integrated into the Framework Educational Programme for Primary Education and the School Educational Programme of the selected primary school. Furthermore, a detailed analysis of the phraseology curriculum in selected textbooks of Czech language and literature for primary schools is presented. This thesis presents previous research on the knowledge and understanding of phraseology and presents their results. The practical part of the thesis deals with a research investigation in which pupils of the second stage of the selected primary school and pupils of the fourth and fifth grades of the first stage of the same school took part. The diploma thesis deals with the origin and development of selected names of birds in Czech language. It studies the characteristics of the selected expressions, it compares their state in Old and New version of Czech language, including an explanation of the origin of the names on the basis of the interpretation using etymological dictionaries of the Czech language. The thesis is also focused on derived words or phrasal idioms.

The paper presented assesses German phraseology including plant names and their consecutive translation into Czech. Subsequently, the idioms are divided into four groups according to the degree of correspondence, each being accompanied with an example. The graphs and tables attached for clearer summary. The conclusion has been devoted to the results of investigation and translation of idioms from the contrastive phraseology point of view.
The translation and stylistic analysis of the Jonathan Franzen's short story Agreeable

In this bachelor theasis I am dealing with the problems that may occur during translation, in this particular case from English to Czech. As a foundation material I used short story Agreeable written by Jonathan Franzen. The thesis is divided into practical part and theoretical part. The first, practical part consists of the translation of the whole short story Agreeable. The second, theoretical part consists of my analysis of the translation, which is focused on the problems I had to solve during the translation process. I comment on the choices I made, usually justifying by translation theories of Jiří Levý and Dagmar Knittlová. The title of the bachelor thesis : Idiomatic equivalents in French and Czech context Key words : Folk literature, idioms, proverbs, comparisons, folk sayings, rhetorics, Czech- French analytic study The bachelor thesis called Idiomatic equivalents in French and Czech context is an analytic study of two languages - French and Czech. The main aim of this work is to find differences between French and Czech sayings. The thesis is divided into several thematically separated parts. A term folk literature will be introduced in the beginning and particular terms will be chosen for further examination. The thesis will deal with idioms, proverbs, folk sayings and comparisons, and their history, meaning and use in French and Czech language will be the object of this work. Another part of the thesis will be focused on categories close to idioms, such as maxims, sentences and rhetorics. In the end the author will try to find new forms of idioms. The goal of the thesis is a linguistic study, in which particular French and Czech idioms will be found and compared.
Translation and analysis of Jonathan Franzen's Freedom

This bachelor thesis is focused on the problems which may occur, while translating from English into Czech, using as a foundational material a novel Freedom by American author Jonathan Franzen. The thesis is divided into two sections. For the purpose of the first, practical part, I have chosen two different extracts of the novel, one is taken from the middle of the book, the second one is the last part of the novel Freedom. The second section consists of my analysis, special attention is paid to the problems I had to solve during my translation. I comment on the choices I have made, usually also quoting from the books that deal with translation theories, I found especially helpful those written by Jiří Levý, Dagmar Knittlová and Zlata Kufnerová.
Translation and Stylistic Analysis of One Chapter of Casualties of Peace by Edna O'Brien

This bachelor thesis focuses on difficulties encountered when translating English fiction into Czech. It is divided into two sections. The practical part provides the translation of one chapter of the novel Casualties of Peace written by an Irish author Edna O'Brien in 1966. The theoretical part delivers the stylistic analysis including choice of register, morphological, lexical, syntactic and pragmatic aspects. Each of them is illustrated with the commented examples based on theoretical background from works by Jiří Levý, Dagmar Knittlová and Olga Krijtová.
