Leadership and management of employees in the construction company

Abstract The subject of this Bachelor Thesis is "Leadership and staff management in the construction business." In the theoretical part there is briefly described the concept of management, construction management, as well as employee management and leadership, particularly in terms of communication, listening and teamwork synergies associated with that. I was looking into a personal nature of a manager, which is an important aspect influencing the management work, reflected in all managers’ activities. In the empirical part, besides working hypotheses, there is a questionnaire utilized to form the whole issue of the empirical investigation and its evaluation. In the conclusion and in the recommendations we can find trends and experience that result from the research, as an inspiration for the practice of a construction enterprise.

Empathy

For my practical part of a bachelors thesis I have chosen empathy as a topic. As this topic can cover some of the family issues I notice nowadays. High percentage of divorces and unwillingness to take responsibility for children are all issues that are generally well-known. However in my opinion precisely the general knowledge is something that is rarely taken as an issue of an individual. My work are three paintings done in oil on canvas, not stretched on frames. They are placed as drawings or photos. They are auto-portraits that reflect my experiences with psychotherapy and my family background. The placement of these paintings is supposed to evoke an insight into an individual in more of a physician sense. In my opinion these paintings and their placement can invoke thoughts around family, empathy and visual art.

Deep reading in literary education at high school

This thesis deals with the teaching of literature in high school, focusing on deep reading. The theoretical part includes a more detailed definition of the concept of deep reading, looking for its place in the teaching of literature and links with literacy and empathy. The aim of the thesis was to prepare and teach several lessons in the high school during which students will have a space for deep reading. The starting point of the work is the book Reader, Come Home: The Reading Brain in a Digital World by Maryanne Wolf, in which deep reading is described as a way to counteract the loss of empathy in our time, which she believes is one of the big problems of contemporary society. The thesis seeks to answer the question of how to design a high school literature class that focuses on deep reading.

Empathy possibilities with literary characters in the reception of Jan Balabán's short stories

This bachelor thesis deals with reader empathy towards literary characters in Jan Balabán's short stories, specifically focusing on the means of text construction that enable this empathy. The theoretical part of the thesis first defines the subjects of the empathic response - the literary character and the reader. Subsequently, the empathic process is also defined. In the practical part, three short stories from different short story collections by Jan Balabán are then analysed, because the sub-research of the bachelor's thesis is focused on the transformation of the means of text construction key to eliciting an empathic response in the context of Balabán's work. The analyses themselves are structured into the different levels of literary character, narrator, story, space-time and language. The analyses then show that the empathic response in the reader is elicited in a similar way in the first two stories, mainly due to the blurring of the distinctions between the narrator's zone and the character's zone, which evokes a similarity with interpersonal interaction, as well as due to the sites of non-determinism that result in the elicitation of so-called external inferences. Empathy in patients with anxiety disorders - pilot study of capturing change during a psychotherapeutic stay

This diploma thesis was created as a part of a doctoral research project of Mgr. Ing. Sofia Diondet, and was a basis for two other diploma theses of Bc. Nikola Hanušová and Bc. Michaela Škrábová. It studied empathy in patients with anxiety disorders and its main aim was to capture change in empathy within this population after a 7week psychotherapeutic stay. Thesis had several secondary aims: to verify lower level of empathic functioning in anxiety patients and an existence of a positive relationship of self and interview rated empathy; also, to determine whether there is a relationship between empathy and anxiety symptoms. To achieve this, two groups were created: experimental (N = 50) consisting of anxiety patients and control group (N = 19) consisting of healthy volunteers of which 12 finished both examinations. Scores of em- pathic functioning measured by STiP-5.1 and LPFS-BF 2.0 were taken before and after the 7week psychotherapeutic stay along with scores of Beck's questionnaires of anxiety and de- pression. Mission, calling, service and their place in nursing

This diploma thesis is concerned with defining the terms of mission, calling, service, and searching for connections between them and nursing. In the theoretical part, we try to search for these terms and determine their meanings through historical and current literature. The empirical part of the thesis is based on qualitative research. Semi structured interviews were conducted with six medical high school students of the practical nurse program, with five university students of the general nurse program, with general nurses that were divided into two groups: those who had finished the medical school before 2004, and those who were studying the medical high school as medical assistants. The last groups for interviews were members of the Sisters of Mercy congregation of St. Borromeo. The main aim of the thesis is to find out how terms of mission, calling, and service are imagined by nurses, how these terms manifest themselves in today's nursing, and how actual they are in nursing today. Answers to these research questions arise from experience of general nurses, as well as students, and reflect their views on the research terms of mission, calling, and service. Empirical inquiry reveals that general nurses and students have a good idea of what terms of mission, calling, and service are. Among descriptions of these terms, the answers of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Borromeo are the most differentiated. General nurses divert from the profession as defined by Florence Nightingale, and they still attribute nurses the same virtues as she was imagining. Today, in nursing, the researched terms mission, calling, and service appear at least in the meaning we elaborate on here and have an archaic impression. Instead of these terms, words such as empathy or compassion are being used in today's nursing, and these words are attributed to a flawless general nurse by students and general nurses. General nurses and students agree that the researched terms perish in today's nursing, yet they still perceive that a general nurse should consider her profession as a mission, and all but three informants consider their current or future profession as a mission.

Prosocial behavior of social workers

The thesis deals with the prosocial behavior of social workers. It is divided into four chapters. The first chapter theoretically defines prosocial behavior. It deals with theories of prosocial behavior, its forms and its motivation. The second chapter focuses on prosocial behavior in social work, and puts it in context with the personality of a social worker. The third chapter deals with the specifics of social work with foreigners. The last chapter presents a research, which took place in the form of semi-structured interviews, and the aim of which was to find out in which aspects of social work with foreigners elements of prosocial behavior are manifested in selected social workers.

The Approach of Carers to Children in Children's Homes

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to determine the degree of background and emotional careprovided to children in a children's home. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the role of the educator and the requirements for the necessity of empathy and active listening. Subsequently, the practical part on the basis of semi-structured interviews describes the real state and degree of communication. The core is therefore an insight into the daily work of the educator. From the empirical part, the fact arises that despite the increasing administrative burden and other activities, the level of helpfulness, empathy and active listening is inviolable. The time devoted to children is not at the expense of other activities and the care is limited only by the time possibilities within the day.
