This thesis focuses on analysing situation in individual segments, where Skoda offers its products. Namely small cars segment, small MPVs, small SUVs, lower middle class and middle class. This thesis also features an analysis of used car market in the Czech republic, a research with experts, a SWOT analysis and a future forecast. The main source of data is a czech association of car importers and association of automotive industry. Conclusions are as follows : considerable fall of small cars and small MPVs segments, increase in sales in lower middle and middle class, loss of market share of Skoda in small cars and small MPVs segments, gain of market share in lower middle and middle class segments. One of the reasons is a higher ratio of private buyers in small cars and small MPVs segments. Private buyers are apparently more sensitive to economic crisis than firms. Situation in the rest of 2010 and in 2011 should be similar.

Broulík in his Master's Thesis sets his goal to analyse the automobile sales sector. He focuses mainly on the situation of automobile dealers. He depictures the contemporary development of automobile sales in the Czech Republic and in the world. He observes the impacts of the world economic crisis on automobile producers and dealers. He closer addresses the Škoda brand sales network which he uses to illustrate his findings. On the basis of the analysis of the automobile sales sector he establishes its particularities which he categorizes as supplier -- dealer relation particularities, sector particularities and dealer -- consumer relation particularities. Broulík assesses the current block exemption and compares it with the legal regime which will apply to the automobile sales sector in EFTA from the 1st June 2013. He concludes that the current block exemption suits the established sector particularities better. He however closes that neither the automobile producers' ascendancy over dealers nor many other sector particularities should be treated through economic competition legal regulation.

The automotive industry has changed a lot in its history. Among the most important changes of the past few years is the shift in production toward developing countries, which is together with the current situation and trends in automotive industry the subject of the first chapter of this bachelor thesis. On the other hand, in developed countries the automotive-production-growth rate is slower or even negative. That is also the case of France, which is closer looked at in the second chapter. In addition, French economy faces a problem that home car manufacturers produce smaller and smaller share of their production in France. This issue is dealt with via analysis of the production of PSA Peugeot Citroën in the third chapter of the thesis. The author comes to a conclusion that except the shift in production in conformity with global changes the French car manufacturer tries to remain competitive by allocating its production to near European markets.
