TOMEK’S SQUARE + CIRCUIT Bypass. Traffic. Cars. Chaos. Barrier. Will the project of new upper-level highway influence the functioning of Tomek’s square in a negative way? Will it become a big barrier which separates all of the surrounding into several isolated fragments? The urbanistic concept adds another local circuit to the Outer Brno Bypass which is designed especially for the pedestrians and which by its bright colour eases their orientation in such chaotic space. It also underlines all the attractive landmarks in the area - riverbank of river Svitava, Husovický hill, Sokol's sports grounds and new flea market situated under the bridge of Outer Brno Bypass. Centre of the circuit lies in Tomek's Square - current chaotic junction. TOMEK´S SQUARE – SPACE The concept works with idea of creating a new public space which the current Tomek's square lacks, it also reacts to its hectic situation by creating the oposite environment. Pedestrian circuit connects the surrounding areas, especially the new flea market linked to the new public space by lengthening supporting wall that defines borders of the flea market. TOMEK´S SQUARE – LIVING Composition of the corner footprint is inspired by the buldings in the current Tomek's Square. It respects its features by leaving the plan opened while clearly defining its inner courtyard. Therefore a new form consisting of four standalone buildings is created. Three of the objects serve as student's residence. They are connected by terraces with outdoor sport facilities. The fourth one serves as a hostel, an affordable option for temporary living. All of four objects' back sides are facing the new highway while being completely open on the opposite facade using balconies.

This Bachelor’s thesis concerns about design of the building of the city library in Frýdek-Místek. The site in question is situated in the historical center of Místek delimited by streets Hlavní třída, 8. pěšího pluku and Pivovarská. Currently, the location predominantly serves as an area for parking and also includes a bulding of a marketplace accompanied by few small market stands. The remaining area isn’t used. The design of the library (including a media, games and a sound library) aims to present a fully functioning institution for the 21st century with a welcoming environment for other related activities, therefore including a multifunctional hall and a cafe. A library, as perceived in modern times, apart from serving its visitors, also fulfills the function of a platform for interaction between various groups of the city’s residents. It should be a place for quiet educating but also for lively social interaction without barriers. The thesis also includes the design of modification of the surrounding area and the connections to the current transportation infrastructure.

The plan of library as the modern city house, mediateque with hall, which will serve mainly to the people and will make friendly ambience like from the inside between books, so for surroundings, where the new places for rest will take place and also for meetings with friends or you can buy something from local farmers. The design of City Gallery in Litomyšl reacts to the viewpoints of the city’s structure with the number of volume in various heights. The volume of the building is divided into 5 units with different height levels. The main principle is the connection of urban spaces, whether in the form of terraces, which are accessible to the public and connected by exterior staircases or in the form of volumes. Volumes tactically change their height based on the purpose and filling of a given volume, the phase of passage from one elevation to another, or the desired expression. They recede and create semi-public terraces and courtyard, ascend or protrude and form dominants. At the point of direct vision from the square, the mass of the highest floor recedes, and thus does not disturb the desired expression of the church.
