OLYMPUS E510 Digital Cameras Simulator and Trainer
Hudec, Tomáš ; Drozdová, Martina (referee) ; Kunovský, Jiří (advisor)
Thesis "OLYMPUS E510 Digital Cameras Simulator and Trainer" is possible to divide into 3 parts - general, specific and conclusion. Introductory general part aims to describe Olympus E510 camera - all it's modes' operation is described in a form of a brief manual. Next segment of the general part deals with the technologies used for the implementation, mainly from Adobe. The second, specific part deals with the specifics of the implementation of the Olympus E510 camera simulator, based on the knowledge contained in the first part of the work. The paper is concluded by the evaluation of the implementation from the viewpoint of usage of the specific technology, and compared with possible alternatives, with advantages/disadvantages being highlihted.
Influences of technological artifacts on morality
ARZROOMCHILAR, Ehsan
Technology is such ubiquitous today that one barely can contact the world around where no artefact is involved. The most basic needs of humans, e.g., food and shelter, hinge heavily upon artefacts. Now, what are the consequences of the current technologically-saturated surroundings on morals? To answer the question, in my writing, I have gone through different traditions as well as movements to figure out how to accommodate moral dimensions of technology. Ultimately I have suggested to integrate the relevant pieces of two movements of Social Construction of Technology (SCOT) as well as ctor-Network-Theory (ANT) into postphenomenology. Further, I have also proposed a three-stage schema for moralization of technology along the process of the design of technology. The schema consists of a descriptive stage, an evaluative stage, and an imperative stage. In the descriptive stage designers need to provide an illustration of what a particular technology brings about. In the second stage, they are supposed to evaluate the description provided in stage one. And in the last stage, they must embed the insights into the technology in question. The work closes its tale by an application of the schema on a case study.
Potravní preference mravenců v lesním podrostu a korunách stromů v temperátních lesích

This study examines food preferences of ants in canopy and understory using tuna/sugar bait method in temperate forests. The abundance was measured to clarify foraging activity and food preferences in the Czech republic and Japan.
Vliv změn v lesních porostech na stav a vývoj populace mravence \kur{Formica aquilonia} na hoře Kleť
NĚMEC, Josef
This thesis reviews the role of red wood ants (Formica s. str.) in forest ecosystems and the impact of changes in forest environment on their population. In the practical part, it investigates the impact wind-throw Kyrill and salvage logging on large nest complex of protected Formica aquilonia ants on the Kleť mountain. This is done by combining and evaluating historical data with currently collected data of the nests distribution and their characteristics. We showed that the wind throw and subsequential salvage logging decreased the number of nests only temporarily and the impacted clear-cuts were well recolonized by F. aquilonia after twelve years. Nevertheless, the nests were smaller and their future success is questionable due to still changing environmental conditions. Interestingly, a threatened xenobiont ant Formicoxenus nitidulus was found in 23 % of the F. aquilonia nest in 2019.
"To cure is no challenge, the goal is to understand." Ethnographic study of Ayurveda
Wolfová, Alžběta ; Novotná, Hedvika (advisor) ; Spalová, Barbora (referee)
My diploma thesis mainly deals with monitoring Ayurveda and description of this phenomena in specific situations and contexts. Ayurveda is understood as an entity based on the actor network theory and the symmetrical anthropology which has been constructed in a process of mutual relationships of actors alleging of various natures (material, social, discursive). The main focus is on the ways of setting and redefining of boundaries of Ayurveda as such which have been realized through identification of significant parts related to this process. It was decided to define the key actors as the Teacher, the Doctrine, the Ayurveda Institution, approaches to human body by alimentation, yoga and breath exercise and Ayurvedic medicines. Each chapter is dedicated to both elements and practices influencing these key actors and different ways of their realization. Ayurveda in its entirety is intervened by members of the community, canonical Ayurvedic texts, biomedicine, national and EUs legislative, climate, politics of Institution, individual daily routines and collective scope of interpretation. 1
Mapping of controversy on the amount of brown coal in Doly Nástup Tušimice
Pecka, Vojtěch ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Čada, Karel (referee)
Abstract The research utilizes 'actor-network' theory to analyze debates in the media on the socio-technical controversy on the topic of the amount of coal in the Nástup Tušimice mines. Theoretical part describes its own place in the sociological tradition and theoretical presuppositions of actor-network theory. My conclusion is that, the controversy is being developed alongside several lines, which remain relatively autonomous. Empirical part of this study analyzes dynamics of the conflict and the strategies employed by both sides in the argument over seemingly unequivocal fact. The conclusion focuses on questionable areas of ANT; especially on it's application in research of conflicts in public space which is different from its use in sociology of science where ANT originated. Problematic point seems to be utilization of management of transparency, which is employed by the alliance of companies to sustain their version of reality. Emphasis of ANT on observable aspects of controversies seems to be obstacle for fruitful use of ANT, because it probably misses the crucial areas where the controversies are being developed.
Ecological validity research of Attention test
Bláhová, Lucie ; Preiss, Marek (advisor) ; Rendl, Miroslav (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of attention research, mainly from the neuropsychological point of view. It is an empirical study divided into two parts: The first theoretical part introduces the history of attention research, defines attention and presents the current theories of attention: Broadbent's Filter model, The Feature-Integration theory from Anne Treisman, David LaBerge's theory and Michael Posner's concept of attention. The second part of the work, the empirical part, is based on the discussed concept of attention, mainly from neuropsychologist Michael Posner. The purpose of the research study is to explore the ecological validity of Michael Posner's attention test - Attention network test (ANT). The following questionnaires were chosen as the methods for measuring the real-life attention: CFQ (Cognitive failure questionnaire), EMQ (Everyday memory questionnaire) and DEX (Dysexecutive questionnaire). The results of the study did not confirm the significant statistical correlation between results in Attention Network Test and scores in self-reported questionnaires, but the bachelor thesis' contribution's to ecological validity research can still be seen. KEYWORDS: Attention, Attention research, Ecological validity, ANT, Cognitive failure
The content of components of ATP synthasome in different rat tissues and in patients with defects in ATP synthase
Mikulová, Tereza ; Houštěk, Josef (advisor) ; Kalous, Martin (referee)
The complexes of oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) are situated in the inner mitochondrial membrane in higher structural and functional complexes, so-called supercomplexes, which facilitates substrate channeling. ATP synthase is also able to organize in higher structures. In mammalian mitochondria, ATP synthase is usually present in a dimeric form. There is evidence of its trimerization and even tetramerization. Furthermore, it seems that ATP synthase catalyzing the phosphorylation of ADP to ATP, adenine nucleotide translocator (ANT) ensuring the exchange of ADP for newly synthesized ATP across the inner mitochondrial membrane and phosphate carrier (PiC) allowing the import of inorganic phosphate (Pi) into the matrix of mitochondria are assembled in a supercomplex called ATP synthasome. This association among the components of phosphorylative apparatus seems to increase the efficiency of processes leading to the ATP synthesis. First, we studied amounts of the components of phosphorylative apparatus in connection with various ATP synthase contents among mitochondria isolated from nine rat tissues. Mitochondrial proteins were separated by denaturing electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and their content was analyzed using specific antibodies. In agreement with our expectations, the highest content of...
Ve světě dronů: Přehodnocení realistického pojetí suverenity
Veselý, Tomáš ; Vostal, Filip (advisor) ; Solovyeva, Anzhelika (referee)
This work assesses the evolving link between drone warfare and the concept of state sovereignty. In doing so, the paper critiques the existing realist and neo- realist discourses that maintain anthropocentric and state-centric assumptions in the analysis of not only the field of Security Studies, but International Relations as a whole. The phenomenon of drone warfare proves the opposite of such assumptions. The role of the state, and indeed the human, is continually decreasing with the involvement of hybrid actors. The drone is the embodiment of complex hybridity combining human and non-human actors alike. To better understand the contemporary execution of sovereignty, particularly in its role of maintaining the monopoly on violence, this paper will explore the premises of post-human perspectives in International Relations. In particular, this paper is inspired by the insights of Actor-Network Theory (ANT), which emphasises equal analysis of human and non-human actors. Sovereignty remains a relevant topic, but through the involvement of hybrid actors, it is devolving into a seemingly arbitrary distribution of violence. The role of human actors in drone warfare is decreasing with the technological improvement of military drones and the military demand for increased drone autonomy. As a result,...
Reassembling Airport Security: An Actor-Network Theory Account of Security Production
Komasová, Sarah ; Bureš, Oldřich (advisor) ; Vittek, Peter (referee) ; Leese, Matthias (referee)
Airport security represents a crucial part of civil aviation worldwide. Due to its substantial impact upon millions of passengers daily, it is bound to provoke questions about proportionality and sufficiency. Drawing on the insights from Actor-network Theory (ANT) and a medium- term field research at Václav Havel Airport Prague, which entailed a mix of qualitative-oriented research methods from participant observation to interviews, this thesis examines the nature and production of airport security as a network of chains of translation. These chains turn or translate according to their own logics of veridiction of all incoming actants, both human and non-human, from an insecure status to a secure one. In their translation, they are guided by three respective logics of division, movement and visibility, which have already been identified in previous studies of airport security. Going beyond the existing state of the art, this thesis specifically inquires into the components of chains of translation, particularly the airport security technologies and their interactions with humans, and focuses on instances where either of these logics or the veridiction logics, intersect, thus disclosing their own nature and presence. Furthermore, this thesis identifies spatiality and identity as two complementary...
