Work-related stress - causes, effects and possibilities of prevention

The bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of work-related load and stress in psychological context. Its theoretical part brings a review of general default and recent information on work-related load and stress and related phenomena. It focuses on primary models and defines the terms of work-related load and stress refering to ambiguity of their comprehension within the literature. Using the theorethical models it explains the principals of origin and effects of work- related load and stress and the role of other factors in this process. It mentions the causes and consequences of work-related load and stress on health, social relationships and performance of employees. The thesis further focuses on phenomena related to work-related load and stress. It brings the information on employee well-being, burnout, engagement and workaholism. It looks at these phenomena within the context of job demands and resources. At the end it concentrates on the possibilities of coping and prevention. The practical part of the thesis contains the proposal of a research project designed to study correlations of selected job demands and resources with burnout, engagement and workaholism in psychologists.

Radvan Bahbouh, PhD. 2 ABSTRACT: This diploma thesis deals with methods of achieving goals and methods of increasing efficiency within the postponed activities in the context of self-coaching and self-management and this specifically for university population, which is indicated by the high prevalence of this phenomenon. The strategy of "small steps" or "quick wins" is described as possible self- coaching and self-management intervention. The validity of Procrastination scale is verified within the overview study by comparison with different studying strategies divided into those with and without delay. At the same time the techniques increasing students' efficiency are mapped, based on their subjective responses. Within the experimental study is then verified "efficient sprint" method, as a strategy of intense concentration on a short-term actions to achieve the goal. New employee adaptation in a banking institution

(in English): The topic of the thesis is submitted, as an adaptation of a new employee in the organization. Introducing the topic within its complexity, showing his particular aspects of psychophysiology, mainly psychological resilience, and the influence to stress. Works on maps of the current possibilities and knowledge relating to the adaptation of the work. Specific attention is applied to the adaptation of the organizational culture. Aim of the empirical part of the thesis is to analyze employee orientation program of the specific banking company, its organizational culture and the specific position to organize the adjusting options, further improvements to the existing program. To this end, we have used variety of wide methods, mainly the qualitative nature of its character.
Work-related satisfaction - causes and manifestation

Bachelor thesis summarizes knowledge from the psychology of work and organization field, in particular from the field of job satisfaction. The theoretical part covers different approaches to job satisfaction and its characteristics. In introduction apart from basic terminology important theoretical approaches to work satisfaction (e.g. single-factor and double-factor theories) are presented. Further the main focus is on factors related to job satisfaction such as age, seniority, gender, education and salary. Also the effect of job satisfaction on phenomena such as work motivation, work performance, fluctuation and absenteeism is mentioned. The final chapter of theoretical part of the work is focused on the methods of job satisfaction evaluation in the Czech Republic as well as in the world. The theoretical part of the work is followed by empirical part which designs a research project of job satisfaction in actual organization. Research project is divided into two parts. Gender and management position from the psychological perspective

Thesis deals with gender and its influence on management position from the psychological perspective. Initially it focuses on the general definition of gender as a social category compared to the category of sex. After that it analyses existing differences among women and men and also stereotypes associated with them. In the next part it deals with the question of gender in the field of work and organizations. In the third chapter the thesis focuses on the influence of gender on the management position in several contexts. The focal point of the paper is the analysis of different leadership styles and their application by women and men. The empirical part proposes a research design focused on the differences among women and men in leadership styles in our culture. Its aim is to analyse leadership styles in small groups and satisfaction of subordinates with their superior.
Mobbing - its manifestations and impacts

The thesis focuses on the topic of mobbing in the context of psychology and connects theoretical knowledge of the applied field of work and organizational psychology. The theoretical part is devoted to defining problematic issues of mobbing, primarily terminological definition and the history of the concept, and then maps of the origin and evolution of this issue. The thesis also describes mobbing from the initial causes of origin and stages, which occurs in the process of mobbing, through manifestations and practices of participants to the impacts and possible prevention. The largest section is devoted to the manifestations and practices of the participants of mobbing; mainly there are described participants of the process and strategies, which they are using during the mobbing process. Furthermore, work focuses on the impacts especially for the victim but also for the work team and the organization, and then to the prevention of this phenomenon. The second part of this thesis presents a proposal for a research project whose aim is to find out whether mobbing occurred in the selected workplace and thoroughly investigates its manifestations and impacts. It is about a proposal for a quantitative-qualitative research.
Conflicts within the working groups and teams

The author aims at the topic of working groups and teams. He focused concretely on the conflicts that can arise within them. The first part of paper is devoted to the explanation of basic concepts, on which is based this work. The author introduce step by step with the issue of conflicts and their basic typology, defining the working group compared to the team and the role of both in human life, as well as communication and interpersonal interactions as integral parts of two previous concepts. In the core of the work are mentioned the basic causes of conflict in the labour collectives in the form of group composition, relationships, and interactions, methods of management or leadership, and also personal settings. At the conclusion of this crucial part of paper are discussed and presented modern phenomena of bullying in the workplace called mobbing and bossing. The last part of theory is devoted to the consequences and implications that these conflicts can cause not only for humans but for the whole group, hence the organization. The whole work is finished by a list of possible methods to investigate this issue and also the specific research proposals.
Outplacement - possibilities, specificities,limits

The aim of this thesis is to describe the process of outplacement and its impact on redundancies. The first chapters are devoted to the dismissal of employees, their consequences and corporate social responsibility. The next part is devoted to defining the concept of outplacement, its history, content, form and process. The last and main part of this thesis deals with the psychological aspects of layoffs and outplacement and their connection with psychological counseling. The empirical part focuses on the contribution of individual outplacement for redundant employees and evaluate its effect on the mental state of these employees during and at the end of outplacement project. Job loss and its social and health consequences

The bachelor thesis deals with unemployment and its social and health consequences. The objective is to capture the reaction to the loss of employment which are common phenomenon. The work contains chapters for the issue of unemployment, it's subjective and objective causes and significance of work in human life. More attention is devoted to the psychological, somatic and psychosocial consequences associated with unemployment. Conclusion of the theoretical part is focused on strategies coping with job loss. Mental load of top management - coping with stress Ing.Mgr.Martin Pospíchal, The Faculty of Arts of Charel University in Prague, 2013 The topic of this thesis is the issue of mental load, respectively mental load in professions that are increasingly exposed to its influence. From a myriad of professions in which people are under intense mental load, this thesis examines the group of top managers, particularly in companies involved in the sale of information technologies. The objective of this thesis is primarily to capture the methods and strategies for coping with stress in this target group. From a methodological perspective, the semi-structured interview and standardized questionnaire research methods were used to identify strategies for coping with stress. The conducted research confirmed with certain degree of probability that intense mental load is an integral part of the performance of the top manager profession. Its impact is assessed as more stressful in comparison with lower job titles, particularly from the perspective of a wider range of active forms of mental load.
