The role of the private sector in pension system of Czech Republic

The main aim of the thesis is to give comprehensive overview on the issue of pension reform in order to clarify, with political-economic and socio-economic context, the position and role of the private sector in pension system of Czech Republic and evaluate whether it is sufficient form of security for old age. The thesis analyzed trends, with specific meaning and influence of the social situation in the EU. There was made the description of pension system of Chile, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, USA, France and Germany. The thesis also analyzed the pre-reform and after-reform pension system in Czech Republic. The last chapter was dedicated to a case study focusing on the simulation with respect of different age and income of various persons. The conclusion showed partial opt-out preference for younger people with long term savings, or older people with income at least above 40.000,-CZK. It also proved benefits of additional savings, especially with state aid, tax relief and employer contribution. The thesis proved the fact that private sector is able to provide the security for old age people only with sufficiently high income, sufficiently long period of savings and also only with personal responsibility of every person alone. In all other cases the savings in private sector must be comprehend as an additional saving and not as an adequate substitute for state pension.
The Model of a Contemporary Conception of Welfare State in the United Kingdom compared to the Czech Republic

This bachelor's thesis is about analysis of the main features of Czech and British welfare state and its macroeconomic comparison whilst the main topic is the development and structure of public social expenditures. The observation shows that with time there is a constant growth of the level of social expenditures in both countries. Because of financial sustainability of social security system are states forced to be stricter in conditions for receiving social benefits. The main problem of the Czech Republic is a constant increase of expenditures on old-age pension which is nowadays the biggest item of public social expenditures. Another area where the Czech Republic has higher expenditures compared to Great Britain is the area of unemployment compensation. The Czech Republic can partly inspire in British structure of public social expenditures. The Czech Republic could increase expenditures on active labor market programs which should decrease expenditures on unemployment compensation.
Social security for women in pregnancy and maternity and their labor-law protection in the Czech Republic and selected European states

The birth of a child brings significant changes into a family life and especially into a life of a woman. One of the accompanying element of this time period is a decrease in family income. Therefore, if the government is interested in fighting the issue of aging population or a low birth-rate, its support and protection is absolutely essential during this period of time. This work describes current shape of the social security system and labor-law protection for women during pregnancy and maternity in the Czech Republic and introduces in detail every single social benefit that is provided by the system in case of legal foreseeing of such a social occurence. Simultaneously, it has been done a comparison of our system with the systems of selected European states.
Social policy and unemployment policy of Baltic states

This bachelor's thesis will focus on the development of social systems in Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) from 1991 to 2011. Closer analysis will be focused on unemployment policy. Although these three countries are usually evaluated together as one region, nowadays, in the time of economical crisis, this view is vanishing slowly. This thesis deals with the development of social policy of each country separately and tries to determine which of the basic model of social policy each of Baltic countries chose, how successful is their unemployment policy and why.
Analysis of newly established second pillar of the pension system in the Czech republic from the perspective of potential clients

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the newly established pillar of the pension system in the Czech Republic, which is part of the ongoing pension reform. The thesis will initially focus on the characteristics of pension systems, the system of the Czech Republic to the end of 2012 and the need of pension reform. The core of the thesis is devoted to the second pillar, its analysis and perspective. Component of this work is the questionnaire survey and a case study that aims to determine which groups of citizens who are divided according to their level of income, the input to the second pillar in comparison with other savings products in the financial market is worth. The conclusion of thesis, based on the knowledge acquired assesses profitability of entry to the second pillar from the perspective of potential clients.
Are there any possibilities of establishments of home for elderly in the Czech Republic in the year 2012?

The objective of this thesis is to point out the possibilities of establishing home for elderly private investors. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the theoretical embedding of the pensioner's care is outlined under the terms of social policy and social services. The legal embedding and the financing of the home for elderly is also delineated. In the practical part of the thesis, the pensioners'stance to the use of home for elderly in the Pelhřimov district is investigated.
Possibilities of modernizing the content of family policy in response to the changing attitudes of young generation

This thesis focuses on balancing work and family as a crucial aspect of family policies of European countries that are in this area considered to be successful regard to higher levels of fertility. Its aim is to identify real possibilities how to modernize specific parameter of the family policy in the Czech Republic in response to the ongoing shift in attitudes of young generation who choose alternative family and reproductive strategies than the previous generation. The work summarizes the findings of population economics, demography, sociology and gender studies, which supports to compile a more comprehensive analysis. The thesis used a comparative analysis method to assess the selected key instruments to balance work and family in the Czech Republic and selected European countries - France, Austria and Sweden. The thesis evaluates the rate and manner of their use and also an optimality of the institutional environment in terms of creating appropriate conditions for the reconciliation of family and gender roles.
The analysis of housing for seniors: Will be in the future securing of social services in the field of living for seniors entrepreneur´s target?

The diploma thesis is aim at analysis of determinants that determine whether is the market of homes for the elderly and homes with special regime attractive for current and potential entrepreneurs. Theoretical part explains the phenomenom of population ageing, analyzes predictions of population development and the development of number of people suffering from Alzheimer disease, senior's financial resources, reasearches rights and duties of social services providers and analyzes effectiveness of financing the social services according to the type of founder. For needed findings is used analysis of specialized literature and studies. Analytical part analyzes preferences for examined kinds of social services. Offers practical example of running the home with special regime and brings the opinions of specialists on economization of social services. In the end of work are collected findings evaluate by means of SWOT analysis.
Analysis of pension systems of chosen EU countries

This thesis deals with analysis of pensions system of European Union with the focus on demographic development and situation on labour market. It deals with historic development of pension systems and various classifications of these systems. Consequently, it looks into theoretical advantages of PAYG systems and fund-schemes in terms of demographic development and labour market. In the empirical part, this thesis analyzes choosen pension scheme of European Union in the criteria of social security, financial sustainability and microeconomic efficiency. The results of the analysis imply that the Netherlands' pension scheme might be the best, because it performed well in all criteria. The work is then trying to answer the question, whether the fund-scheme is better than PAYG system when it comes to meeting the challenges of ageing population. This thesis finds little evidence that the fund-scheme could cope better with the challenges than the PAYG system and therefore this thesis concludes that fund-scheme is not a solution to the demographic development.
International Trade and Competitiveness of Ukraine

This work deals with the theoretical concept of national competitiveness, analyzes the development of Ukraine's foreign trade in selected areas and measures competitiveness of Ukraine using an alternative method of measurement. This method is based on analysis of comparative advantages in foreign trade of Ukraine and the extent of their use. The results are compared with selected international competitiveness rankings. As these rankings, also this work evaluates Ukraine as a little competitive, but with the improving trends.
