Pešková, Tereza ; Fikrová, Petra (advisor) ; Vašinová, Martina (referee)
The bachelor thesis is a review focused on colorectal cancer (CRC), its incidence, prevention, treatment, but especially on the methods of diagnosis that help to detect this disease. In the first part of the thesis, the colon is anatomically and histologically described. Next is presented the disease of the CRC, its origin, occurrence, symptoms, prevention, and finally treatment options. In the next part, the work focuses on specific methods of diagnosis. One of the most effective method for early detection of cancer is a screening program that uses the methods of examination of occult bleeding into the stool and colonoscopy. Colonoscopy itself is considered to be the gold standard for the diagnosis of CRC. Despite the development of new and more modern methods for diagnosis, colonoscopy is still one of the most widely used and most reliable methods. Furthermore, radiological methods, especially computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), are described. These methods have made a great move towards detecting lesions more accurately and earlier. These methods are also still often combined with colonoscopy to provide a more comprehensive and detailed picture for diagnosis. These new methods, such as virtual colonoscopy, positron emission tomography combined with CT (PET/CT), or...

Same event, different representations: How do biases differ in mass media and participants descriptions? Abstract The main theme of this thesis is the representation of events by two different perspectives - the media's representation on the one hand and narration of participants on the other. Both of these methods of capturing events stands for an effort to interpret actuality, which attributes importance to it. While in the case of media the important factors are especially those as regulatory requirements, news values or the image of the audience, at the individual level are mainly applied different strategies of self-presentation. Since everyone in the interpretation of reality is affected by their personality or behavior, there are many different images that depict everyday reality which we accept. It is therefore important to be aware of how these representations are created. The goal of the research itself was to explore both of these sources and describe how they differ from one another in case of a representation of the same event (namely Prague Pride Parade 2014). The intention was to find out how the two types of descriptions differ and how are affected. The findings presents on what both types of description have focused, what were the main topics presented and the context in which the event was...

This bachelor thesis deals with a child character in the short stories of Leonid Andreyev. The aim of the thesis is to find out the importance of a child in works of this author. To achieve this aim, the author of this thesis uses specialized literature and especially her own analysis of the stories. The first and the second part of the thesis concentrate on the general political and cultural overview of that time. It also focuses on the connection between Andreyev's works and artistic movements of his time. The third chapter informs about the development of a childhood theme in the literature and aspects of a childhood appearing in the works of Russian writers of 19th century. Especially in the books of Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy and Chekhov whose output probably influenced Andreyev mainly. The fourth part is devoted to Andreyev's life, writing and the typology of his characters. The fifth part includes an analysis of some stories which are divided into three groups, according to the function which a child fulfills there. At first are described the stories in which children are the main characters while their role in the stories of the other group is just symbolic. The story called "The Book" is analyzed on its own as it is not possible to place it into any of the created groups. The last part is...
"You need to plan it." Practices of reducing food waste in households
Pešková, Tereza ; Čada, Karel (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
"You need to plan it." Practices of reducing food waste in households Anotation This diploma thesis focuses on a problem of consumers' food waste. The main goal is to find out how does the consumer behaviour of the target group look like and how does this behaviour influence the amount of food which is thrown into the trash. By using the theory of practice, therefore exploring specific practices which people use for food consumption, it was possible to tackle the problem. Moreover, this approach enabled to emphasize not only the practices themselves but also the meaning which is connected to them. Results of the qualitative research show that one of the biggest influence on the quantity of discarded food has the shopping behaviour like careful planning of food purchases with respect to real consumption. Different practices were found also in other situations, for instance, when older food accumulates at home and it is necessary to process them to prevent them from being thrown away. These strategies are influenced by different aspects like environment, availability or respondent's experience. In the text are, furthermore, introduced also respondents' motivations and barriers which affect their tendencies to reduce consumption and thus minimalize food waste.

Pešková, Tereza ; Šíma, Jan (advisor) ; Kolmistr, Martin (referee)
Title: Comparison of alternative league formats in european football Objectives: The aim of this work is to analyse play - offs of chosen european league formats. The other aim is to make a prediction about czech league. Methods: A method of comparison was used in this thesis. A placement of each team before play - offs was compared to a placement of the same teams after play - offs. After that, there was a comparison if play - offs have more impact on championship round or on relegation round. Based on conclusions from these comparisons we have made an estimate of development in Czech league. Results: We discovered that play - offs have more impact on teams which played relegation round. In most of analysed seasons play - offs did not change the winner of the league and neither helped a lot of teams to enter European championships. We estimate that play - offs of Czech league will help more second league teams to promote to first league. Keywords: football, tournament systems, league, prediction
