Horse in the frame of human culture

The dissertation "Horse in the history of human culture" presents a summary of a history of horse in the human culture. Horses have played a significant role in homo sapiensis evolution ever since it came to Eurasia. From beeing hunted for food, horses soon turned in the process of domestication into working, riding and driving animals of significant importance. In different cultures and epochs, different types of horses of different purposes have been emerging. But since its domestication, horses have allways been tellig a story of culture in its time and space. This is why this topic is a part of the wide array of interest of the therory of culture. In this dissertation, I chose to catch a relation of horses and culture in the historic circumstancies. I hoped to connect my experience with horses with scientific literature on this topic, historical facts and presently existing historical artefacts related to horses. In most of scientific and historical literature, many notes on horses may be find, but mostly they are interpreting the facts wrogly, and sometimes they are even wery far from the truth. the historicians usualy lack the needed knowledge of hipology, etology and zoology. The cult of Goddess is known from the beginning of human race and it continues in nowadays. It involves the Paleolithic Venuses, goddesses from ancient pantheons, who were transformed in a cult of Mary in Hellenistic syncretism. This cult is connected with a deep symbolism of a birth giving, life, death and rebirth. It contains psychological aspect, where the goddesses are thought as projections of archetypes of mother and Anima and also the sociological aspects of women status in these cultures and societies.

Language, adaptation, and culture

The main objective of the diploma work Language, Adaptation and Culture is to approach the question of an adaptation of a foreigner through the process of learning the Czech language. A foreigner being new to a particular society has to go through many unknown situations concerning his behavioral patters, his language knowledge as well as his habits and attitudes. I find this process of learning the new "know how" very interesting to study as it brings important ideas and experiences to the intercultural relations. This work particularly focuses on the role of "native" language knowledge in the process of acculturation of an individual. It consists of two parts. The theoretical part, divided into six chapters, is firstly dealing with the terms of acculturation and how it is perceived by both anthropology and cross-cultural psychology. Secondly the focus is put on the phenomena of a foreigner and the characteristic of the relation between "we" group and "they" group. The third chapter is dedicated to the question of a foreigner in the Czech environment, following by the chapter five introducing the origins of language as well as the linguistic anthropology as it is presented by the contemporary human science studies. Sociocultural aspects of male and female role in a family

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou sociokulturních rolí žen a mužů v oblasti rodiny a manželství a vlivem různých faktorů na postavení jednotlivých pohlaví v obou těchto institucích i ve společnosti samotné. Důležité je také vymezení samotného pojmu rodina, kterému je věnována hned jedna z prvních kapitol. Práce je rozdělena do dvou hlavních tématických částí. První část je věnována zejména historickému pohledu na problematiku vzájemného soužití obou pohlaví. Stejně tak jako ve většině vědních oborů je důležité pochopit dějinné události, popřípadě si z nich vzít příklad, je prospěšné věnovat se minulosti i za účelem pochopení rolí obou pohlaví v dnešním světě. První část diplomové práce se tedy snaží přiblížit vznik manželství a rodiny v různých historických úsecích od počátků samotného soužití muže a ženy a rozebírá postavení a úlohu žen i mužů v jednotlivých obdobích dějin. Druhá část diplomové práce je věnována především současnosti. Zabývá se problematikou postavení a role ženy a muže v dnešní společnosti s přihlédnutím na různé faktory, které je mohou ovlivnit. S tímto tématem souvisí také problematika učení se rolím během celého života s přihlédnutím na společenské předsudky, které proces socializace ovlivňují nemalou měrou. Cultural identity of Czech emigration in the USA

Myslím, že stálo za to fenomén české emigrace do Spojených států prozkoumat v různých úhlech pohledu. Popsala jsem důvody, které emigranty vedly k osudovému rozhodnutí opustit rodnou zem. Poměrně podrobně j sem zachytila i průběh vystěhovaleckého procesu, zážitky z prvních dnů svobody, těžké začátky budování nové existence, úspěchy dosažené v nové vlasti, ale i všední starosti, zklamání i radosti, které emigranti prožívali daleko od své staré vlasti. Věnovala jsem se také problematice přetrvávání a odumírání jazyka u přistěhovaleckých komunit a všímala si řady významných fenoménů a rysů v životě českoamerické populace. Na příkladě českého vystěhovalectví do Spojených států amerických, jako mimořádně významného emigračního proudu české historie, jsem se snažila vysvětlit některé jevy související se sžíváním etnických skupin v odlišných národnostních prostředích. Smyslem této práce nebylo ani cokoli vyčítat anebo chválit, ani dávat soudy, kdo měl emigraci těžší a kdo lépe uspěl.

Advertisement and gender in culturological perspective

The subject of the dissertation thesis is the advertisement and gender and social inequality among men and women as a phenomenon of the consumer society. Special attention is paid to the definition of the gender roots, historic introduction to the gender, creating of stereotypes and biologic and cultural determinisms. Thesis is referring to gender not only as an expression for feminism but also as a phenomenon with anthropological background from perspective of advertisement and consumer influence. The work is comprised of three separate parts. In the first part that represents the theoretic exposition of the whole work I define the basic terms that create conceptual scope of the elaborated theme. Attention is mainly paid to the historic background behind the start of the advertisement, beginning of the mass media, their typologies and characteristics. In the second part, the attention is turned to the issue concerning the gender in the advertisement from the culturological perspective and in the third part towards the empiric knowledge of this issue as an important means allowing the reflection of two different genders. Educational systems from the perspective of theory of culture

Cílem předložené práce bylo zpracování tématu výchovy a vzdělávání z kulturo logického hlediska. Tento přístup je autorkou považován za přínosný hned z několika důvodů. Umožňuje spojení poznatků různých vědních disciplin, jejichž výsledky se do souvislostí dostávají v běžné i odborné literatuře spíše výjimečně, a tím otevírá další možnosti řešení specifických problémů a bádání v dané oblasti. Dalším přínosem je začlenění tématu do lidského způsobu života, jeho vnímání jako základní charakteristiky lidstva, jednotlivých společností i jednotlivce. Zkoumáním dopadů edukace na všech těchto třech úrovních lze dospět k funkčním řešením problémů formalizovaného i individuálního předávání lidských poznatků. Vzhledem ke komplexnosti tématu jsem se soustředila na ty základní složky edukačních procesů, které mi pro přehled dané problematiky připadaly nejdůležitější. Důvodem podrobnějšího rozpracování konkrétního systému vzdělávání v ČR, bylo seznámení se s přesnou formulací mechanismů zajištění přenosu znalostí, norem chování, zvyků na ty členy společnosti, u kterých přirozená složka tohoto procesu, tedy rodina, chybí. Specifické sociokulturní regulativy v podobě právních předpisů, existence vládních, krajských i nestátních orgánů, charakter jejich činnosti i vzájemné spolupráce ukazují na míru kulturní vyspělosti...

The belly dancing as a multicultural phenomenon

This thesis deals with belly dancing as a multicultural phenomenon. The autor chose this subject for different reasons. Firstly, the very nature of belly dancing asks for which falos for multidisciplinarity, which is the main idea of cultural antropology. Secondly, she practices belly dancing herself. This fact helps her understand belly dancing more properly even on the theoretical level. Moreover, the author could study this phenomenon because she attends courses and has become a part of the newly emerged Czech belly dancing subculture. The third and last reason why she picks up this phenomenon was a fact that she had studied at an artistic secondary school. Thats why she does not only study the subject from the perspective of humanities (studied at FFUK) but she also tries to apply the artistic point of view. Thus the dance is not viwed only as an artwork, but strong inspiration for artists as well.
