Montessori ´s pedagogics in preschool education as one of options for a child
MALÁ, Lucie
The thesis deals with Montessori approach to education as a choice for a child in pre-school education. The main objective is to find a reason why should the parents place a child in the Montessori Kindergarten. And whether their expectations are fulfilled. The theoretical part consists of the chapters on alternative education, Montessori and Waldorf approach to education, the curriculum for preschool education (RVP PV) and the people who first attempted to change systém of the education in the Czech Republic. Chapter named methodology describes the different methods used for research. The practical part contains the results of a qualitative research, which was conducted via questionnaires, case studies and interviews.
On the Interface between Thematic Progressions and Cohesive Ties in Selected Modern Short Stories and a Fairy Tale
Malá, Lucie ; Pípalová, Renata (advisor) ; Matuchová, Klára (referee)
This thesis focuses on the comparison of two short stories by Angela Carter with the fairy tale on which they are based. It attempts to discern to what extent the author preserved the structure of the fairy tale, as viewed from a linguistic point of view, in her short stories. The thesis also suggests an interpretation of the motivation and effect of the divergences of the structure of the short stories from that of the fairy tale. The three texts are analysed from three points of view: thematic progressions, discourse subjects and cohesive chains, and cohesive ties. Attention is payed first to the description of the individual texts, and then to the comparison of the three texts. The comparison puts emphasis on the distinction between the shorts stories on one hand and the fairy tale on the other hand. The comparison shows that the structure of the fairy tale is to a large extent retained in the short stories, as they share characteristics on all the three levels of analysis. The short stories were found to differ from the fairy tale in two main respects, connected to each other, which influence the differences in their structure: the age of the intended reader, and the context and setting of the story.
Interpretation of the novel Spas by Ivan Matoušek
Malá, Lucie ; Vojtěch, Daniel (advisor) ; Málek, Petr (referee)
The master thesis discusses the novel Spas by Ivan Matoušek published in 2001. The description of the structure and narrative time of the novel is followed by a characterization of the ironic self-conscious narrator and his relationship to the fictional world and the main character. The interpretation is partly inspired by a theoretical paper on irony by Vladimir Jankélévitch, which is compared with Paul de Man's concept of irony. The thesis also refers to Linda Hutcheon's theory of self- reflexivity and metafiction and employs the concept of mise en abyme.
Karel Slavoj Amerling as a character in the novels by Vladimír Macura
Malá, Lucie ; Vaněk, Václav (advisor) ; Merhaut, Luboš (referee)
The main objective of this bachelor thesis is method Vladimír Macura used while creating his tetralogy of historical novels called Ten, který bude. As an example we choose character named Karel Slavoj Amerling, which is inspired by historical figure. We use this example and try to describe relations between documents and information gained from sources like memoirs and correspondence and novelistic fiction. Thesis also takes account of science books by Vladimír Macura, who made intense research about Karel Slavoj Amerling and issues of Czech national revival. Besides enumeration of differences and similarities, in the end this thesis leads to interpretation of the novels.
Neologisms in Arundhati Roy's God of Small Things
Malá, Lucie ; Matuchová, Klára (advisor) ; Topolovská, Tereza (referee)
This thesis focuses on neologisms in the novel The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. It aims at describing their morpho-syntactic features, the word-formation processes from which they result, and their contextual function in the analysed text. The original text is compared with the Czech translation and the ways of translating neologisms in Czech are explored. The thesis explores three hypotheses. Firstly, the predominant word-formation process employed in creating neologisms in the text is likely to be compounding. Secondly, the Czech translation is expected to contain fewer neologisms than the original. Thirdly, it is supposed that the distribution of neologisms is not balanced throughout the book, and that their frequency will increase in those chapters which offer the children's perspective. Out of these three hypotheses the first and the third one were confirmed. The validity of the second hypothesis could be neither confirmed nor refuted, for that would require further research on the Czech translation of the text, which was beyond the scope of this thesis.
Hereditary and non-hereditary factors affecting starch content in potato tubers
Malá, Lucie ; Sedláková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Dvořák, Petr (referee)
This literature review relates to the starch which is presented in potato tubers, and hereditary and non-hereditary factors that influence content of the starch. At the beginning of the work, the attention is paid to the potatoes itself, especially their general characteristics. It should also mention the content of substances in tubers and their impact on human health. Further, the work is focused on the main thema, especialy starch present in potato tubers. Starch has considerable importance for the entire national economy, currently used not only in the starch industry, but it is more frequently used in other industries, for example paper or textile industry. Starch is composed from two important polysaccharides, amylose and amylopectin which are described in details. There are factors, that may influence starch content in potato tubers, like genetic and environmental factors. The simplest genetic factor that can influence the content of starch in potato tubers is crossing. The biosynthesis of starch is very important, which depends on several enzymes that initiate the metabolic pathway. It is pyrophosphorylase, starch synthase (SS), enzymes branched starch (SBEs) and enzymes unbranched starch (DBES). Starch synthase plays an important role here, in particular her isoform GBSS (granule bound starch synthase), which synthesizes amylose. Amylopectin is synthesized by a complex of enzymes SSI, SSII, SSIII, SSIV. The manipulation of single sugar genes metabolism can affect the formation and composition of starch in any variety of potatoes. This manipulation is called transgenesis and her goal is the creation of new potato genotypes. We can produce potato starch with high amylose by inhibiting enzymes SBE A and SBE B. A starch with a high amount of amylose is highy asked from the industry, because starch has unique functional properties. It should be mentioned DNA markers that has connection with the cultivation of potatoes and offers new opportunities for selecting potatoes genotypes. With DNA markers is linked MAS analysis and the associated method PCR polymerase chain reaction method. Another important method is QTL method. The environmental factors which influence the starch content of potatoes, which are mentioned in this work, are drought, light, cold. It should also be noted that even postharvest stress has a negative effect on starch content in potato tubers. Environmental stress affects and changes the yield of the starch.
