Teaching literature at secondary vocational schools for the Deaf in the Czech Republic - description of current situation in two selected schools

This bachelor's thesis deals with the current situation of teaching literature at two selected secondary vocational school for hearing impaired. The thesis consists of two parts. The first section describes documents related to literary education, marginally describes the specifics of teaching people with hearing impairments and then legislative, curriculum and methodological documents are analysed. In the second part of the work, data collection took place trough semi-structured interviews, in which the interviewed teachers described the course of teaching literature and the circumstances associated with teaching. The following is a summary of semi-structured interviews and correlations with theoretical knowledge of curricular documents. The aim of the research is to map the current situation of teaching literature at two secondary vocational schools for hearing impaired. The concepts of sense of coherence and sense of national coherence as predictive resources of mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic

Given the negative consequences the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to both the physical and mental health, there is a growing need to find the ways how to support and strengthen psychological resilience and mental health of the individuals in such an unprecedent situation. Consequently, this thesis explores the A. Antonovsky's salutogenetic model of health with a focus on the concepts of sense of coherence (SOC) and sense of national coherence (SONC) as potential predictors of mental health during COVID-19 pandemic. In the theoretical part, the topic of mental health, it's coneptualisation and predictors are presented, with an emphasis on the concepts of SOC and SONC. Additionally, the review of present research on mental health during COVID-19 pandemic is included. The research project analyses the data obtained through an online survey as a part of an international research study investigating the predictive factors of mental health during COVID-19 pandemic. Data collection in Czech sample was conducted in December 2020 and January 2021, using the Mental Health Continuum, SOC-13 and SONC scales. The sample included 476 participants. Developing Intercultural Communicative Competence through Reading Witi Ihimaera's The Whale Rider

This thesis concerns the development of intercultural communicative competence (ICC) through reading a work of postcolonial literature (The Whale Rider by Witi Ihimaera, 2005) in an English class. The theoretical part explains notions such as intercultural communicative competence and culture. It also describes the benefits of reading in ELT. The practical part presents a project consisting of altogether twelve lessons dedicated to reading The Whale Rider. The aim of the project is to support the pupils' development of ICC, make them aware of other English-speaking cultures than just the traditionally presented ones and, last but not least, to develop their language skills. The outcome of the project is, besides the expected raised level of ICC, which is, however, hard to measure, a poster about Maori culture realized by the pupils. Career development from the organizational perspective

The bachelor thesis introduces a topic of career development in organizational context. The aim of this work was to present the concept of career development from organizational perspective and to outline the contrast between the traditional career and the contemporary career concepts with the new psychological contract taken into consideration. The contemporary view of career also changes the organizational approach towards the career planning and career management of its employees. The major part of the thesis presents the human resources management practices which are or might be used by organizations to support the career development and growth of its employees. The empirical part of the thesis introduces a research design examining the effectivity of a developmental practice, the 360-degree feedback, regarding the job tenure of the workers in the organization. Efficiency of the EMS concept in comparison with other modes of transport

This thesis focuses on concept of European Modular System. It describes its characteristics, main advantages and disadvantages and experiences of other countries. A separate chapter focuses on swap bodies so that modular heavy goods vehicles can be compared to them in practical part of this thesis. Aim of this thesis is to evaluate what is better for transport of particular goods, if classical semi-trailer unit with maximum allowed length of 16,5 m, combined transport road-rail with use of swap bodies or modular heavy goods vehicle. Costs, transpotation times and emissions will be compared in this section. The thesis also aims at evaluating if main arguments of opponents of this concept are eligible or not.
