Disruptive media technologies - theories and application to the Czech media environment

Rigorous thesis "Disruptive media technologies - theories and application to the Czech media environment" deals with a concept of disruptive technologies, which results from the economical model of creative destruction made by founder of innovation theories Joseph Alois Schumpter. Although he had described adverse impact on present market structure at the beginning of 20th century, media studies revealed them lately, precisely in the year 1995 in an economical model of another economist Clayton Christensen. In the late 20th century, with the evolution of the internet, first studies based on media corporations' trade model have investigate disruptive impact of new communication channels on the older ones. This rigorous thesis transmits these analyses onto Czech media environment, which is still strongly affected by the transformation process started 20 years ago. It illustrates the influence of the whole transmutation on the innovation process and the reason why it is so necessary to examine it separately for all Post-communist countries. They organize and validate a wide information imputes into a form suitable for medial purposes. There are a significant number of currently running systems provided by universities, companies and other oganisations. Optimization capital charges in VaR model utilizing dynamic risk management strategies

Diploma thesis "Optimization capital charges in VaR model utilizing dynamic risk management strategies" deals with banks opportunity to reduce Basel capital requirements via estimation volatility in VaR model for separate time periods differently. It analyses current crisis, its sources, process, but especially its influence of new worldwide accepted regulatory standards, which require nearly doubled regulatory capital. Regarding high impact to industry return on equity the thesis discusses the possibility of dynamic capital optimization based on alternating conservative and aggressive risk management strategies. Empirical part of thesis tests outcomes of volatility modeling based on historical quotes of six European indexes since 2003, which are classified by volatility levels and broken down into several time periods. We suggest approach which enables financial institutions to reduce the impact of new Basel rules on their ROE, while they meet all VaR model conditions defined by the regulator. However, there are also negative consequences of this lowering level of capital represented by increasing failure rates of models. Means and functions of the medialization of financial markets in the last decade

Bachelor thesis deals with means and functions of financial markets medialization in the last decade on the print, broadcast and network media material. In the introduction there is a brief outline of the current situation of economic news in the Czech media environment. The first part of the thesis provides economic (financial markets theory) as wel as media (application of semiotics) theoretical bases. The practical part of the thesis analyses the outcomes from financial markets publicized in selected titles of journals (Hospodářské noviny, Mladá fronta E15, MF Dnes and Lidové noviny), news sites on the Internet (iHNed.cz, E15.cz, iDnes.cz and Lidovky.cz) and in Česká televize broadcasting. The analysis uses the knowledge of semiotics - the study of signs and sign systems. The aim of the thesis is to define the means which are used for financial markets medialization depending of the type of media (print, broadcast and network media) and evaluate their functions. Attention is also paid to the diversity of the means in an economically-oriented and general media. A Reflection on the Question of Single European Currency Adoption in the Czech Press

Diploma thesis "A Reflection on the Question of Single European Currency Adoption in the Czech Press" deals with an analysis of media picture of the transition of the Czech Republic to the common currency euro in Czech media. With the help of the quantitative method of content analysis and the qualitative method of grounded theory, articles from the dailies Hospodářské noviny and Právo are being analysed. The sample includes articles from the beginning of May 2004, the accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union, until the end of April 2011. Quantitative content analysis enables comparison of both of the periodicals by means of organization and general summary of quantifiable data from the articles. The method of grounded theory regards the examined collection as a whole and provides detailed analysis of the sample in order to identify hidden structures of the text. The focus of this work is articulation of the media image of the European common currency adoption in the Czech Republic, based on the partial outcomes of the research project.
