Communication systems based on IP telephony
Zimek, Josef ; Kapoun, Vladimír (referee) ; Herman, Ivo (advisor)
My master’s thesis is focused on designing and creating communication network, which provides communication between two independent networks through encrypted tunnel. My solution is based on routers formed by older personal computers with FreeBSD like a operating system. Between routers is created static encrypted tunnel by using IPSec protocol. Voice services provides packet oriented exchange Asterisk with support of signaling protocol SIP. This solution can be used eg. for connecting remote branch to headquarters of company and then can branch utilize shrared resources. To headquarters can connect also remote workers from their home. In this case are used SSL certificates to authentication of user. This scenario is very required today.
Optimization of digital switching fields
Mikéska, Marek ; Šilhavý, Pavel (referee) ; Kapoun, Vladimír (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the features description of electronics switches for digital switching arrays and on the design of program for optimal calculation of switching points and the figure of switches in digital switching arrays investigation. The electronics switches types, used for time circuit separation, are described in the preamble. These switches are the base of digital switching arrays and in principal two types are defined: the switch S and switch T. The switch S allows the interconnection only of the same channel intervals from incoming circuit with random outgoing circuit. The switch S is being used in multistage switching arrays in combination with the switches T because it can not be used separately. The switch T allows exchanging the time position of incoming circuit to different time position of outgoing circuit depending on connection needs. The time switch can substitute the space switch under specific work conditions. In practice, the time switch with controlled reading and writing is used. The following part of diploma thesis is focused on the designs and calculations of optimal switching points of digital switching array which is the executive unit of switching systems. These systems directly interconnect the signals from digital multiplexes and make the basic assumptions for telecommunication networks integration. The digital switching array means the equipment which is able to connect the channels of digital multiplexes carrying the information in encoding form. The multiplexes are the most often with pulse coded modulation or adaptive delta modulation. The digital switching arrays are divided into the time and space one. The switching arrays of digital switching systems can be made by time switching array T whose realization is limited to specific capacity or by the connection of multistage arrays. Single stages sequenced one behind each other are made by the switches T and S. The space array S does not allow making the digital switching array of switching centre. The program which determines possible proposals of switching arrays from defined figure of inputs and calculates the optimal figure of switching points and switches is a part of diploma thesis.

Research into the appropriateness of diverse multimedia cabling applications
Tichý, Ondřej ; Kapoun, Vladimír (referee) ; Škorpil, Vladislav (advisor)
The reader can find a summary of metallic structured cabling in this thesis. It means there is described progress of this cabling and the specifications of the cabling systems. There are also described all types of these cables and some of connectors. The types of cable are summed in the table at the end of this part. In another part there are shown some aplications used for structured cabling. In the futher part there are described tests defined in the specifications in more detail. The most importatnt part of this thesis is focused on various tests. Firstly, there were chosen typical representative of the cables. It was: the data cable (Category 6), S/STP and MediaTwist cable. These cables were underwent the standard tests described above and theirs results are appended on the attached CD. In the last part of this thesis there are intrinsic tests of fitness cables to the multimedia signal. Of course, the tests were chosen to measure cable to obtain the most suitable type of cable. However, these tests were not standard measurement. There were simulated occasions from the practise. The goals of this thesis were to achieve the results, to compare them between each other and to make a decision, which cable is the most suitable for the multimedia signal. Definitely, this thesis should be sufficient at least for people who keep track of structured cabling. Eventually, the clear decision was made from these testings. MediaTwist cable is the most suitable type for the multimedia signal, because the signal is being recognized correctly in almost every case even if the long length. The result from the testings in more detail can be found at the very end of this thesis. So, if you are interested, please, continue in reading.
LAN design in the Dept. of Telecommunications
Kučera, Filip ; Minarčík, Martin (referee) ; Kapoun, Vladimír (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the proposal and the maintenance of Ethernet computer networks in the Department of Telecommunication property in Brno. There is a description of communication line types used in LAN computer networks in the first parts of the work. Their advantages and disadvantages are introduced too. Further there is an existing situation of the computer network on the third and the fourth floor of the Department of Telecommunication building documented. This documentation includes a design and a list of used components. The existing computer network has some minor inadequacies that were taken into consideration in the new proposal. There is a completely elaborate documentation of the new proposed network on the third and the fourth floor that contains a detailed placement and a single component configuration including their description. This documentation should significantly contribute to more effective network maintenance in the future. The computer network maintenance does not contain only servers, printers or workstations. It's also necessary to consider network parts that are not so perceptible for common users. That means single segments of computer networks with its active devices. A web based application for the effective computer network maintenance is proposed and described in this work too. The application allows administrator to keep a well-arrange view of the single network segments. All network related information is saved into a database that can help with a solution of later occurred problems.
Remote-controlled switching of information systems - part II
Prečan, David ; Kapoun, Vladimír (referee) ; Herman, Ivo (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with remote communication over Ethernet interface. First, a brief survey of the existing solutions is presented. Then a remote temperature measurement using data transmission over Ethernet network is proposed. The proposed solution is described in detail including hardware and software design of an equipment for data transmission and evaluation that is based on ATmega 162/30 processor. This equipment communicates with a PC where the measured temperature is displayed. A functional sample of this equipment, which was used to verify the design, is described.
The Optical Link Error-Rate Determination
Joch, Antonín ; Kapoun, Vladimír (referee) ; Kyselák, Martin (advisor)
The master thesis discusses physical causes of light polarization and problems brought by nascence of Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD). These problems occur especially by high speed systems on optical cable traces. The thesis deals with actuation of transmitted signal by influence of Inter Symbol Interference and it also deals with methods for its measuring and compensation. As a results of measurements are in text presented data provided by EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. Company. Significant part of the thesis focuses on optical link Bit Error Rate (BER) which is connected with Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and signal quality (Q-factor). Further on it is possible to find in text about so called eye diagram which is display mode that shows influence of communication channel on shape of the transmitted signal. To this diagram is related another one called constellation diagram which describes modulation mode and makes it possible to map dispersion of signal points around their nominal values. In connection with so called trajectory it makes vector diagram. Practical part includes depiction of these diagrams in MATLAB development environment.

Design of digital switching field animation
Kučerka, Daniel ; Šilhavý, Pavel (referee) ; Kapoun, Vladimír (advisor)
This thesis describes types and parameters of memories used in communication engineering. The memory is a device which is able to record and to save information for the certain period of time. The memory is used in computers, measuring devices, consumer electronics etc. Main parameters of the memory are capacity, data stream speed, price of bit and time of memory cycle. The first part of this thesis deals with two types of memory – external and internal. External memories are removable media such as discs and magnetic tapes used for information saving and data backup for longtime period. Inner memories – in the form of semiconductive components – are mostly attached to the main panel. There are two types of inner memories – RAM (random access memory) and ROM (read only memory). The memories could be further divided according to their dependence on feeding used for memory saving. Types of memories used in switching exchanges are also mentioned in this part. The next part discusses the scheme of T switch for the first level of European PDH E1. The space switch and the time switch T belongs to switches used in digital switching exchange. In this part, the T switch, in particular the switch TR with controlled reading and the switch TW with controlled writing are described into details such as its parameters and methods of control. Furthermore, the calculation of call memory and control memory extant in E1 and E2 hierarchy are presented as well as the memory reading time and writing time of T switch in E1 and E2 hierarchy. The result of this thesis is a design of digital switching field animation that consists of four T switches. All operations, which are used in building linking of digital switching field, are shown in this animation.
