Stieblerová, Kateřina ; Pavlík, Petr (advisor) ; Křížková, Alena (referee)
The topic of this diploma work is the gender audit of regional authority. The goal is to find out if there are any institutional mechanisms that ensure the equality between men and women, how consciousness of gender problems among the interviewees is shown, if and how exactly the reign promotes the problems of equal opportunities on that particular level of regional authority, what the position of equality is of men and women in intern politics of the aforementioned regional authority, and finally, what could be changed in the aspects of region and authority. The work is divided into the introduction, the theoretical and empirical part, the conclusion, and the enclosure. The theoretical part is about the history and development of the institutional mechanisms for the equality of men and women, and of gender problems in our society. Prominent international and national documents about gender equality and about authorities of current institutional mechanisms are introduced. Also the tools for gender equality enforcement, and all above gender audit are mentioned. Methodology modified in terms of experience from foreign countries is also used. The motor and cognitive consequences of inborn cerebellar degeneration and some possibilities how to influence it
Křížková, Alena ; Vožeh, František (advisor) ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (referee) ; Mareš, Jan (referee)
The motor and cognitive consequences of inborn cerebellar degeneration and some possibilities how to influence it The cerebellum is traditionally considered to be a coordinator of movements and equilibrium and a regulator of muscular tone. Participation of the cerebellum on the motor learning has been discovered later. Besides that, there is increasing experimental and clinical evidence supporting the idea of an important role of the cerebellum in common cognitive functions. Increasing number of experimental works - especially those on animals - demonstrate an effect of the the cerebellum on the memory and different types of learning. A suitable model to study the cerebellar degeneration are Lurcher mutant mice. During their lives, there is a progressive loss of Purkinje cells followed by a loss of granular cells and inferior oliva neurons. We concentrated on the following problems in this work: - development of motor learning and topical motor skills during the first month of life - positive and negative changes in NO synthesis and subsequent effect on discriminative learning - effect of administration of MK-801(non-competitive antagonist of NMDA receptors) on discriminative learning of Lurcher mutants and wild mice derived from two strains (C3H and C57B1/7). Lurcher mutants and wild mice were put in motor...
Parents returning to work after parental leave in the eyes of recruiters
Marková, Kateřina ; Křížková, Alena (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
Work, and more particularly paid work, is an essential part of decent human existence. Current conditions on the Czech labour market cannot be considered friendly towards parenthood and parenting duties. The common pressure to fully adjust to the employer's needs and very limited opportunities of family-friendly forms of employment together with other factors have led to a situation where parents of small children (and particularly mothers) find themselves in a disadvantageous position. Family policies do not aim to improve that position and institutional child care does not have sufficient capacity. The qualitative research undertaken for the purpose of this thesis therefore focuses on personal managers as representatives of employers in the employee recruitment process, more precisely on conceptions (stereotypes) personal managers have of men and women, of parents in general and most importantly of parents returning to the labour market after their parental leave. It is very important to research these conceptions (stereotypes) because they are an integral part of the employee selection process and are reflected in the decision-making about hiring/not hiring an individual for a position.
Partners in business, home and life
Pospíšilová, Marie ; Křížková, Alena (advisor) ; Piscová, Magdaléna (referee) ; Rašticová, Martina (referee)
This PhD thesis builds on the current trends in the research on entrepreneurship and gender, which pay attention to the fact that women are being excluded from or ignored by the entrepreneurship research and that female entrepreneurship is studied and assessed from a male perspective and no attention is paid to important contexts which affect the situation of entrepreneurs. With regard to this criticism, the focus is on the embeddedness of entrepreneurship in various contexts. In order to approach this issue I use the institutional perspective and I look for relations with formal and informal institutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The research deals with entrepreneurial couples as it is possible to look into their entrepreneurial embeddedness in the domestic context. The aim of the thesis is to provide a micro-insight into the construction of role distribution in the domestic and work area and show how these constructions are justified by cultural repertoires. I look into the negotiation of roles in heterosexual couples by the method of qualitative interviews which I carried out with each of the partners individually. Thanks to his method it is also possible to study the suppressed voices in the couple (more often female than male). I analysed the data using the social constructivist...
Is Czech Spotify Gender-Biased?
Křížková, Alžběta ; Hroch, Miloš (advisor) ; Lütke Notarp, Ulrike (referee)
Is Czech Spotify gender-biased? Alžběta Křížková Abstract This thesis analyses the gender inequality of music streaming platform Spotify. It focuses on Czech Spotify, ergo, on the Czech music industry between May 2020 and March 2021. The interdisciplinary study covers crucial theoretical concepts from the theory of platforms, popular music, and gender studies. It verifies whether the theory built on Anglo-Saxon tradition can be applied to the local setting. The dataset comprises of songs placed in the "TOP 200" chart and select editorial playlists. The chart illustrates song popularity based on listeners (organic listening), and chosen editorial playlists indicate the platform's promotion of songs (suggested listening). The gender gap analysis is based on a comparison of three gender ratios of songs entering the platform in total, in the playlists, and songs that make it to the chart. The empirical research utilises fundamental statistics and presents various song aspects (genre, record label, band formation, and others) in relation to artists' gender on Spotify, but also in the Czech music industry. The results show a low representation of female artists in the whole industry, while the platform actively promotes female artists via suggested listening. Organic listening endorses gender stereotypes and...
Carpathia - An insight into the contemporary studies of the periphery
Křižková, Aneta ; Činátlová, Blanka (advisor) ; Hrdlička, Josef (referee)
The thesis deals with a selected literary works by contemporary authors of the Central European area, which are associated with the landscape of Transcarpathian Ukraine. The thesis primarily focuses on the issue of imagining space from the narrator's perspective and a conception of its own identity in a relation to a referenced space, topography, collective memory. The initial precondition for interpreting texts is the peripheral character of the region and its features, such as nostalgy, memories of a place that is no longer, a fascination for exotism etc. Using a literary-comparative approach, the following texts are disscussed: Maroš Krajňak's Carpathia, Ziemowit Szczerek's Přijde Mordor a sežere nás aneb Tajná historie Slovanů, and Jinací by Taras Prochasko. Concerning space visualisation and its narrative potential related to the narrator's identity, the theoretical basis of the work is experimentaly set in a postcolonial framework. As such, the thesis intends to capture the resonance of the material in another culture (ie in the Czech, Slovak and Polish environment). Key words Central European literature, cultural context, periphery, postcolonialism, identity, landscape, Transcarpathian Ukraine

Onomatopoiec Words in Albanian
Křížková, Anna ; Backus Borshi, Orkida (advisor) ; Otčenášek, Jaroslav (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with onomatopoeia in Albanian. The theoretical part is devoted to a thorough explanation of the concept of onomatopoeia and individual areas in which onomatopoeia can be encountered both in spoken and written form. Due to the lack of materials on Albanian onomatopoeia, we worked mainly with Czech or foreign materials, whose theories can be applied across languages. We also deal with a chapter on music, which we consider to be one of the most crucial areas of onomatopoeia and which explained us many facts. The aim of the bachelor's thesis was to create a sample of a hundred words of sound-painting character in Albanian, which we subsequently analyzed in the practical part. Our sample is also supplemented by Czech equivalents, which may not always be sound-painting. But it was crucial for us to find sound-painting words in Albanian. We approached the selection of words in our sample of words by the method of random selection from the Czech-Albanian dictionary, but also from the Albanian explanatory dictionary, which served as a replacement for the non-existent Albanian corpus. At the beginning of our work, we hypothesized that we will probably find the most onomatopoeic words in the group of interjections, which we then refuted in the practical part, and we consider this...
