Application of demographic analysis in human resources management: A Case study on elite floorball players
Baťková, Markéta ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Janáková Kuprová, Barbora (referee)
Application of demographic analysis in human resources management: A Case study on elite floorball players Abstract This bachelor's thesis focuses on the possibilities of how to apply demographic analysis in the field of human resources management. Part of the work is also a case study which focuses on elite floorball players. The goal of this thesis is to introduce the concept of human resource management in general and to describe the possibilities of applying demographic analysis to other than just ordinary human populations on a theoretical level. The objectives of the case study include, among other things, demonstrating the different career times between men and women. The case study uses individual data of the 100 historically best male floorball players and 100 historically best female floorball players in the Czech Republic. Among the main methods used in demography and human resource management and also in sports are the construction of life tables and survival analysis. In the case study, statistically significant differences were found in the duration of the careers between men and women and in the average ages at the end of the career and in the average ages of achieving indivually best season. The role of microRNA in physiology and pathology

Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biochemical Sciences Candidate: Mgr. Barbora Hanousková Supervisor: doc. Ing. Petra Matoušková, Ph.D. Title of Doctoral Thesis: The role of microRNA in physiology and pathology MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small single-stranded non-coding RNA molecules that play an important role in the regulation of gene expression. They are evolutionarily highly conserved and are present in the genome of all eukaryotic organisms, suggesting their importance in physiological processes. Due to the tissue specificity and their involvement in the pathogenesis of various diseases, miRNAs have been widely studied in connection with their potential use as specific and early biomarkers, or as a therapeutic target. The doctoral thesis, written in the form of an annotated set of publications, dealt with the study of miRNAs in various systems in vitro and in vivo, focusing on their role in adipogenesis and their use as biomarkers of pathological conditions. The introduction summarizes the theoretical information on epigenetic regulation with a more detailed focus on miRNAs, followed by comments on the author's individual publications and brief conclusions. In two studies using mouse models, several miRNAs were identified to have their expression profile...

The population in the Central Bohemian manor of Škvorec from the middle of the 18th to the end of the 19th century. Knowledge gained using traditional and advanced methods of historical demography and methods of historical sociology.

The population in the Central Bohemian manor of Škvorec from the middle of the 18th to the end of the 19th century. Abstract The aim of this study is to analyze the reproductive behavior (nuptiality, natality, female and male fertility, mortality) and the social structure of selected groups of the population of the Škvorec manor in the 18th and 19th century. The Škvorec manor which is located in the territory of today's Central Bohemia was an important agricultural area in given period. The complete nominal excerpts from parish registers were used to find numbers of all births, marriages and deaths. In addition to traditional historical- demography methods (especially the family reconstitution method and subsequent calculation of demographic indicators from family leaves), advanced statistical methods (survival analysis, Cox regression model) were also used for data analysis. These approaches are new in Czech historical demography and bring many advantages, which are presented in the work. The natural change of population development at the manor is compared with the Czech lands as a whole and in more detail with selected rural and urban localities. The results mostly correspond with the population development which was observed in the Czech lands. The number of inhabitants of the manor in the years...

Fertility development in the USA
Fialová, Lucie ; Kurtinová, Olga (advisor) ; Janáková Kuprová, Barbora (referee)
Fertility development in the USA Abstract The aim of this theses is to analyse the development of a fertility rate in the USA. As a tool for this analysis I am using the following indicators: total fertility rate, age specific fertility rate and mean age at birth. The population of United States of America is very heterogeneous therefore it is important to take the racial and ethnic differentiation into account when analysing fertility. Every racial/ethnic group is unique and has its own demographic behaviour. Because the fertility rate also varies in different states, this work has one part on regional differences in fertility rate. This theses also includes a chapter on demographic theories, such as the first and second demographic transition and the lowest-low fertility. Theories describe and explain changes in reproductive behaviour of the population. Keywords: Age specific fertility rate, total fertility rate, mean age at birth
Populism in political communication of political movement Úsvit přímé demokracie Tomia Okamury
Janáková, Barbora ; Křeček, Jan (advisor) ; Vochocová, Lenka (referee)
The main goal of this master's thesis, which is written in the form of content analysis, is to elaborate political communication of the Dawn of Direct Democracy of Tomio Okamura movement which is led by Tomio Okamura. More specifically, the aim of this academic work is to find populist elements in its discourse. In the theoretical part the concept of populism is defined. Also, different interpretations of populism are mentioned, namely, populism as ‚thin- centred ideology' or for example the style of political communication. Moreover, in the theoretical part the origin of populism is briefly discussed. Als, the features of populism, which are determined for this master's thesis are explained. The concept of populism is also examined with Jan Charvát, a political sicentist. Furthermore, the concept of political communication with the focus on political online communication is explained. During the interview the spokesman of the Dawn of Direct Democracy of Tomio Okamura movement Jan Zilvar explains how political online communication of the party functions. In the practical part, the methodology which was used during the collection and subsequent processing of source is mentioned - i.e. quantitative content analysis. Subsequently, the master's thesis briefly summarizes the source: the blog of Tomio...
