Influence of Selected Factors on Students' Mathematical Literacy in Central European Countries : Secondary Analysis of PISA 2003 Data
Voňková, Hana ; Byčkovský, Petr (advisor) ; Půlpán, Zdeněk (referee) ; Boschek, Petr (referee)
In this work we investigate the impact of selected personal, family and school characteristics on the level of mathematical ability of fifteen year old pupils from 6 countries of the Central Europe (Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Austria and Slovakia) and from countries with excellent results in mathematics (Finland, Hong Kong and the Netherlands). Then we compare the impact of the factors in the individual countries. Much can be concluded from this analysis. The type of school attended by the pupil has a great impact. The maximal difference between type of schools can come up to 40 percentage points in some countries (CR, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). We do not discuss this factor in Finland and Poland, where all fifteen year olds attend one type of school. The results in these countries are therefore determined differently. As for other basic characteristics of the school, the size matters in some countries (Hong Kong and the Netherlands) and has always a positive effect. The urbanization level of the place of the school (the size of the village or city) is also positively correlated with the mathematics result. Here the Netherlands and Germany form an exception. The status of the school (public vs. private), lack of well-educated teachers, equipment of the school and enthousiasm of the...
Analysis of motor docility, emotional stability and ractibility
Peřinová, Radka ; Rychtecký, Antonín (advisor) ; Hošek, Václav (referee) ; Boschek, Petr (referee)
Title: Analysis of the relationship motor docility, emotional stability and reactibility. Aim : The objective was to gain insight into the theoretical knowledge of motor docility. Try to analyze the correlation between the motor docility, reactibility and emotional stability of students of physical education UJEP. Methods: The level of motor docility was measured by IOWA BRACE test, the shift in learning new motor skills in selected sports during the semester and expert assessment. Reactibility was through disjunctive test reaction times observed temporal variability of response times. Emotional stability was diagnosed with neuroticism dimension in the EPQ-R. Results: The sample had the expected characteristics due to the emotional stability. It was proved relation between values of neuroticism and temporal variability in reaction time test reactibility. Partly succeeded confirm the relationship between motor docility (test progression in learning new motor skills) and temporal variability of response times. The relationship between the level of motor docility and emotional stability was not demonstrated. Keywords: motor docility, neuroticism, EPQ-R, IOWA BRACE.
Analysis of multidimensional contingency tables
Děchtěrenko, Filip ; Boschek, Petr (advisor) ; Vranka, Marek (referee)
Multidimensional contingency tables are suitable tool for capturing the count of observations of multiple categorical variables. There are more complex relationships amongst multiple variables which cannot be captured by analytical tools for two variables. In this work, we introduced log-linear models and showed their application on three dimensional tables. We focused on statistical program SPSS, in which we showed analysis on the sample data including the interpretation. We redone the analysis on another artificial data capturing the possible situations which could researcher encounter in the real life. The sample data were also analyzed in statistical program R. Validation of California verbal learning test: second edition (CVLT-II) - a pilot study in the Czech population
Bezdíček, Ondřej ; Boschek, Petr (referee) ; Preiss, Marek (advisor)
To perform a pilot study of the CVLT-II in the Czech population and assess its reliability and validity in comparison to the original. The main hypothesis was that the Czech version has approximately the same test characteristics as the original.
