Child's group development and aggression
Šustová, Petra ; Horáková Hoskovcová, Simona (advisor) ; Morávková Krejčová, Lenka (referee)
This thesis deals with group development and aggression in child's group. In the first charter, key group characteristics are introduced together with theoretical basis of group development. I focused especially on group structure, group dynamics and group norms. Second chapter is devoted to specifics of child's group. Aggression in group of children, especially class, is described in the third charter. The most important part of this thesis is chapter four. There I tried to identify risk phases in group development, which can contribute to increasing aggression in group of children. Final part of this thesis consists of research project that is focused on comparison of aggression and victimization between phase forming and phase storming.
The influence of sex on sexual relationships of patients with schizophrenia
Wogurková, Karolína ; Androvičová, Renáta (advisor) ; Šustová, Petra (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the theme of the sexuality of people with schizophrenia, and how it is moderated by their biological sex. It shortly defines schizophrenia and describes its symptoms, including the differentiation between positive and negative ones. It depicts the specifics of sexual functioning with schizophrenia, addresses sexual dysfunctions and the different ways in which they can be related to the illness. It also focuses on the sexual needs of people with schizophrenia, their relationships and various areas in which schizophrenia and sexuality intersect, like sexual abuse and sexual risk behaviour. The thesis also depicts sex differences in how the illness manifests and how one's sex affects their sexual functioning, which is followed up by a description of the estrogen hypothesis. That is the central point of the research proposal found in the empiric part of the thesis, which focuses on the relationship between one's estrogen levels and the extent of their sexual dysfunction. Keywords: schizophrenia, sexual dysfunction, sex differences, estrogen
Neuropsychiatric symptoms in predementia stages and the degree of congruence between the close informant and patient ratings
Krejčí, Monika ; Vyhnálek, Martin (advisor) ; Šustová, Petra (referee)
This Master's thesis deals with neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) in the early stages of neurodegenerative diseases with an emphasis on Alzheimer's disease (AD). It aims to introduce these symptoms and their contexts and, within the framework of the research, to describe the prevalence and severity of NPS and to compare the informant- and self-rating of NPS in the Mild Behavioral Impairment-Checklist (MBI-C). Attention is focused on the total MBI-C scores but also on the individual domains of the NPS. A quantitative research is conducted on a sample of 70 dyads of patients and their informants; patients with subjective cognitive decline and mild cognitive impairment were included. The performed statistical analyses prove that patients and their informants differ from each other in the assessment of NPS in the total score of the MBI-C and in the impulse dyscontrol domain. These differences are also correlated with the degree of cognitive deficit of the patient. Evaluation of NPS by both the patient and informant and evaluation of the degree of their consistency might therefore be useful and important for predicting the progression of the neurodegenerative disease. However, this assumption will need to be verified in further research, the possibilities of which are also discussed in the thesis.
Social skills in emerging adulthood in connection with ACE
Kotrášová, Anna ; Děchtěrenko, Filip (advisor) ; Šustová, Petra (referee)
This bachelor theses's main goal is to test and verify the factor structure of the SSI (Social skills inventory) on common population and on clinical population as well, specifically population that went through adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). First, the period of emerging adulthood is characterized as the target group. Then this theses give a basic overview of literature concerning social skills abroad and in the Czech context as well and introduce SSI as a research instrument. The ACE issue is characterized and studied in the connection with the emerging adulthood and social skills. The research in this theses did not verify the assumption that SSI six-factor model (Riggio & Carney, 2003) will correspond with the data collected on the Czech population in the period of emerging adulthood. A four-factor solution was created, its reliability estimates are at least as acceptable as are estimates in the original study of SSI. However, these results suggest that SSI is probably not a valid instrument for measuring social skills and further verification of these results is needed. Therefore, this theses suggests a research carried out on a representative sample of Czech population with the inclusion of ACE population that would verify the factor structure of SSI. Possible limits and merits of this...
Emotional creativity in early stages of neurodegenerative diseases
Janečková, Terezie ; Nikolai, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šustová, Petra (referee)
The aim of this paper is to outline a perspective on the experience of emotions and related phenomena in Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease as two models of the most common neurodegenerations. It describes in general terms a group of neurodegenerative diseases, their classification based on neuropathological changes in the brain and characterizes in greater detail the two most common ones, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's disease. The emphasis is mainly on the preclinical phase and on the neuropsychiatric symptoms associated with neurodegenerations. The second part of the literature review focuses on the concept of emotional creativity as personality and cognitive factors related to emotions. It also includes a review of other psychological phenomena to which emotional creativity may be related. The empirical part of the thesis offers a comparison of changes in emotional creativity in people diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. The research population consisted of 55 patients from the Motol University Hospital and the General University Hospital in Prague. Both groups were administered a neuropsychological test battery and the self- assessment questionnaire Emotional Creativity Inventory. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference in the preparedness component...
Body dissatisfaction and somatoform dissociation in relation to eating disorders in men
Bednář, Adam ; Šporclová, Veronika (advisor) ; Šustová, Petra (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines the relationship between somatoform dissociation and body dissatisfaction in men with eating disorders. This issue suffers from relatively significant shortcomings in terms of the male population, as in the past it has been predominantly investigated in female patients with eating disorders. In the introduction to the theoretical part, eating disorders are briefly introduced. For the purposes of this thesis, the focus is primarily on anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. Different aspects of these illnesses are discussed from a gender perspective, including the potential risks of stigmatising eating disorders as feminine illnesses. Current scientific evidence on the links between somatoform dissociation and body dissatisfaction in the context of eating disorders is presented. Emphasis is also placed on the delineation of psychiatric-psychological care with regard to the importance of dissociation and approaches that seem appropriate for working with the male population. The empirical part presents a research design to examine the relationship between somatoform dissociation and body dissatisfaction in men with eating disorders. Key words: Body dissatisfaction; somatoform dissociation; eating disorders in men; traumatic event; restrictive and...
