Mathesso: Board game as a diagnostic tool
Šimková, Zuzana ; Děchtěrenko, Filip (advisor) ; Pikola, Julie (referee)
This bachelor thesis explores the potential of using Mathesso, a board game, in the assessment of cognitive functions. The theoretical part includes an introduction to psychological testing, a summary of the limitations of classical testing, and an overview of emerging alternative methods. It also discusses the use of games in psychology and psychological assessment, describes previous research on board games in this context, and provides an overview of the directions of research on gamification in psychodiagnostics. The empirical section includes a description of the research in which 23 respondents were presented with a modified version of the game in digital form, along with three cognitive tests measuring intelligence, memory, and executive functions. The obtained data were analyzed using correlations. The results show a significant correlation with a large effect size for the intelligence test, but do not suggest the ability of this method to compete with the Trail Making Test used as a common measure of executive functions. For the measurement of memory, the procedure chosen for explaining the game instructions proved to be completely inappropriate, so the ability to measure this cognitive function needs to be retested. In general, the game does have a diagnostic potential, however, a lot...
Reproductive modes in large Branchiopoda (Crustacea) and their effect on genetic structure of populations
Šimková, Zuzana ; Sacherová, Veronika (advisor) ; Straková, Barbora (referee)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the influence of the reproductive systems of four groups of so-called large branchiopods (Crustacea: Branchiopoda) on genetic variability in their populations. The groups include the orders of fairy shrimp (Anostraca), tadpole shrimp (Notostraca), clam shrimp (Spinicaudata), and conchostracans (Laevicaudata). This thesis primarily examines the populations in Europe. Reproductive strategies are one of the key factors that influence the genetic variability of populations. Other factors include historical events such as the breakup of the supercontinents Gondwana and Pangea and the last ice age, along with its associated processes (such as the colonization of new habitats after the end of the last ice age, etc.) The most genetically variable populations in Europe are gonochoristic (Branchipus schaefferi, Phallocryptus spinosa, Triops mauritanicus, Leptestheria dahalacensis, and Lynceus brachyurus), followed by populations with other reproductive systems. Based on current knowledge, some gonochoristic species and species utilizing a different reproductive system are divided into multiple genetic lineages. Depending on the historical processes, these lineages were most likely separated before the last ice age. Therefore, the current geographical distribution of lineages...
The role of extracellular matrix in mesenchymal stem cell biology
Šimková, Zuzana ; Chudíčková, Milada (advisor) ; Hubálek Kalbáčová, Marie (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the mutual relations of mesenchymal stem cells and extracellular matrix, their communication and to point out their significance in living body. First part is focused on description of extracellular matrix, its components and characteristics. The interaction between extracellular matrix and surrounding cells is using both receptors and enzymes. Second part addresses the description of mesenchymal stem cells which are crucial producers of extracellular matrix. The matrix is also decisive part of stem cells niche which envelopes them, protects them and decides their future. The last section demonstrates possible utilizations of differentiation potential and paracrine secretion of MSC in therapy and identifies some of the risks bound to it.
A retrospective look at the development competence of pediatric nurses on inpatient department
ŠIMKOVÁ, Zuzana
This thesis deals with not only a question of competence of nurses and their children's development, but also in terms of preparation of professional nurses. The nursing skills are necessary competence to perform the nursing profession. Represent this area of knowledge, skills and attitudes that are acquired through education. One of the ways to qualify nurses to the profession, is today a university course. The second method is a specialized education, provided that the candidate meets the conditions for admission and received his professional competence to practice nurses. Determination of the competencies of nurses in the Czech Republic is governed by Law No. 96/2004 Coll. Acquisition and recognition of eligibility for non-medical professions and for activities related to providing health care and amending certain related acts, the last decree on the activities of health workers and other professionals, No. 55/2011 Coll. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical cross section contains the history of pediatrics and nursing, selected chapters from health legislation and development of children's ward in České Budějovice Hospital. For the practical part, I chose a qualitative research method of interviewing and pediatric nurses. The research sample consisted of 10 nurses who work or have worked on the inpatient pediatric ward. There were set three goals in this work. The first task was to determine the development of competencies nurses. The second objective was to determine the extent of the authority nurses at present. In the last part of my job I surveyed whether nurses are aware of their general competence. The research showed that their competencies developed. A large share of this development has the technological development in medicine, new insights in treatment and use of modern diagnostic methods and increasing nursing education. Results of this research can serve for professionals in pediatric congresses and publication in professional journals.
The integration parents and close relatives to nursing proces for children with polytrauma
