Navrátilová, Hana ; Bareš, Ladislav (advisor) ; Baines, John (referee) ; Loprieno, Antonio (referee)
As an Egyptologist and historian I have tried to partner in this dissertation Egyptological and historical methods used on the topic of the uses of the past and on the issue of the presence of uses of the past in the Egyptian culture. There is a large discussion on these enquiries in both disciplines. I have focused on sources originating in the Egyptian New Kingdom (around 1540 to 1080 BC) and tried to analyse some issues related to the social memory and presumed historical awareness of this period. There is a specific material - a group of inscriptions called the "visitors' inscriptions" (Besucherinschriften). These texts are well-known to Egyptology but in my opinion deserve even more attention, being an attestation to the culture of a period literate stratum - the scribes. The thesis is divided into three major parts: 1/ the uses of the past - theoretical approaches, giving also the reasons for carrying out the analysis of the uses of the past of the ancient cultures, especially Egypt; 2/ the New Kingdom and presumed uses of the past in the Egyptian society of that time; 3/ the visitors' graffiti, including:  state of research, the graffiti database project;  the description of the graffiti in a statistical overview;  interpretations and conclusions, attempting also to insert the graffiti into the...

Health educational background in the nutritional therapy of women after Gastric Plication in the age of 25 - 40 years
JIRKALOVÁ, Veronika
This Dissertation aims to document the influence of a nutrition therapist on the diet of female subjects in their reproductive age after gastric plication. The theoretical part clarifies the term "morbid obesity", it provides explanations for the main diagnostic criteria for this type of obesity, its risks, and last but not least it provides also a list of basic types of medical examinations of obese subjects. Another section of the theoretical part deals with weight-loss (bariatric) surgery where this term is described not only at a general level, but also specifically with the principle of gastric plication, indications as well as contraindications to this intervention. At the same time the Dissertation presents a Prague-based bariatric centre - OB klinika a.s., which is the only entity in the Czech Republic that deals with these activities. The last section in the theoretical part is focused on nutrition therapy and explains energy demands of human organism, describes healthy nutrition and clarifies essential features of obesity treatment, and it deals with the most important aspects as well - eating regime in the case of subjects after gastric plication. The practical part deals with 10 female subjects selected on a random basis, in the age category of 25 - 40 years of age, who underwent the gastric plication. Five of these subjects have been selected for the project entitled "New Chance" and they are monitored at a detailed level and follow the prescribed regime after gastric plication. The remaining five subjects undergo a standard post-operative regime. The five selected subject use menus prepared by a nutrition therapist and they are invited, in regular intervals, to visits with consultations regarding eating habits, drinking regime as well as any possible issues which may occur in the course of their treatment. With the help of tables and charts this part documents developments of weight reduction and at the same time it provides comparisons of changes before and after operation, especially in the areas important for a nutrition therapist.

Nursing care of patients with pressure ulcers
ŠERIOVÁ, Martina
This dissertation deals with nursing care issues relating to patients with pressure ulcers. The presented topic is quite actual these days, because the number of bedridden patients is constantly increasing, in which the potential risk of the formation of pressure ulcers arise. "Decubitus ulcer is a bedsore, which arises as a consequence of pathological pressure on the predilection place." (Pejznochová, 2010, p. 23). Mostly immobile patients suffer from this disease. Pressure ulcers can be prevented by regular adjust or with anti-decubitus aids. The treating of already existing pressure ulcer today is preferably with the use of modern therapy, the so-called "wet treatment". This dissertation is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part outlines the formation issue and the assessment of pressure ulcers, the most common place of origin, the defect rating scale, the importance of prevention and subsequent treatment of pressure ulcers. And finally, it describes how the treatment of pressure ulcers is done in hospitals and home care agencies. Two goals were set for the practical part, to describe new methods in the treatment of pressure ulcers and to compare options in the treatment of pressure ulcers in hospitals and home care agencies. To achieve the set goals, a qualitative research was used, which was performed through interviews with nurses from inpatient ward of the hospital of Czech Budejovice, as well as with the nurses from the City Charity in Czech Budejovice and nurses of nursing home care and nursing services ALICE in Czech Budejovice. When interviews were making, two sets of questions were prepared. The research group was consisted of 11 respondents. The respondents came from the dermal ward, ward of internal medicine and aftercare ward. These respondents were identified as respondents under No. 1 to 4. The nurses of home nursing care agencies were signified as respondents from No. 5 to 11. This selection of respondents enables to compare the specific patient care on the wards and in home care agencies. The data were collected from February to March 2013. At the beginning of the research project, five research questions related to the. The first question was concerned of new ways in the treatment of pressure ulcers. The second focused on the nursing care of a patient with pressure ulcers in hospitals. The third question examined the area of nursing care for patients with pressure ulcers in home care agencies. The last two questions were focused on the use of surgical dressings for the treatment of pressure ulcers in hospitals and home care agencies. Based on the survey, it was found that in both institutions proper prevention is ensured, which means the client positioning, nutrition, hygiene and the use of anti-decubitus aids. The research showed the original relieving aids were often replaced by blankets and pillows, as these tools are the more available and fulfil its purpose. The use of surgical dressings on patient units and home care agencies, there is a predominant use of moist therapy and appropriate therapy materials for this purpose. In therapy, this method is considered to be better, because it accelerates the healing of the defect, less surgical dressings are needed and they are less painful for the client. The evaluation of nurses showed that the majority of nurses in home care agencies believe that the agencies are providing better care than in hospital. Certainly nurses from inpatient department think the opposite. Except one respondent, all of the others regularly attend professional seminars, where, within these seminars, new materials and methods of treatment are presented to them. The work will be used for improvements in nursing care of patients with pressure ulcers and will serve as a study material for students in medical fields.

Hien, Phung Thi Phuong ; Kolář, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Vališová, Alena (referee) ; Raudenská, Věra (referee)
The aim of this dissertation is to help to improve the quality of teaching world literature in Vietnam, while making use of the experience with teaching this literature at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. This dissertation is based on studying professional pedagogical texts, as well as on hands-on teaching experience both in Vietnam and in the Czech Republic. Treatises and studies mainly by Czech authors and to a certain extent also by educationalists of worldwide reputation have served as theoretical background. Textbooks in both Vietnam and the Czech Republic may well be of use. This work is also founded on the author's practical experience with teaching from Vietnam. The cooperation with Czech teachers has proved extremely interesting and helpful in a number of points. Firstly, I had the chance to observe a number of lessons. Secondly, interviews with teachers and specialists have been a source of practical experience and information for me. Furthermore, there are experimental classes, to which the methods I suggested were applied to. With regard to surveys and conditions in Vietnamese schools, the proposed methods of teaching world literature will be adapted to teaching literature in Vietnam, while respecting the cultural, social, geographical and philosophical differences between Vietnam and...

Venticular activation patterns in conduction abnormalities and during different pacing modes (aktivační sekvence při poruchách komorového vedení a různých typech komorové stimulace)
Peichl, Petr ; Kautzner, Josef (advisor) ; Lukl, Jan (referee) ; Kittnar, Otomar (referee)
Academic dissertation: Ventricular activation patterns in conduction abnormalities and during different pacing modes Petr Peichl, MD, Department of Cardiology, IKEM, Vídeňská 1958/9, Prague, Czech Republic 5 Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a progressive disease caused by left ventricular dysfunction with high morbidity and mortality rates. Ventricular dysfunction is often linked to ventricular dilatation, which in turn may cause ventricular conduction delays and further worsening of the cardiac function. Recent decade gave rise to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), a therapeutic modality based on premise that preexcitation of late activating10 regions by cardiac pacing may restore the left ventricular synchronous contraction. The goals of the publications included in the dissertation were: (1) to analyze the ventricular activation patterns in patients eligible for CRT with respect to the underlying heart disease and/or QRS morphology on the surface electrocardiogram(ECG), (2) to quantify changes in ventricular activation patterns during different pacing modes and (3) to compare15 the hemodynamic performance of different pacing modes during exercise. 1. Patients with CHF and wide QRS complex represent a broad spectrum of underlying conduction disturbances with variable inter- and intraventricular...
