Nuns as caretakers? A look into nuns's activities in selected hospitals of the Czechoslovak Republic between 1948 and 1960
Štrofová, Kateřina ; Stehlík, Michal (advisor) ; Michela, Miroslav (referee)
(in english) The subject of this thesis are three female monastic communities and their activities in selected hospitals of socialist Czechoslovakia between the years 1948-1960. The aim is to examine the overall policy of the communist authorities towards sisters in the specific environment of hospitals and the stance of local authorities, i.e. the everyday practise in healthcare. Emphasis is placed on the nuns themselves, their professional relationships with doctors and civil nurses and their actions on the local level. The thesis also analyses church practise in hospitals, interventions of the state-appointed church secretaries and partly even their oversight of activity of the Catholic church in individual districts. Last but not least, large effort was expanded to reconstruct the sisters' own perception of post-1948 persecutions and interventions in medical care, not just in relation to the strategies, which they have chosen to cope with the adverse conditions within their communities, but also their mostly disapproving attitudes towards the interventions of the communist regime against their presence in hospitals.

The diploma thesis is dedicated to the comparison of the concept of the post-Soviet period in Ukrainian and Russian history textbooks published after the year 2000 and the educational policy in the field of history teaching in both countries. The first section deals with the state policy in the field of history teaching with an emphasis on the developments in the period after the year 2000. For completeness, an outline of the development of the issue in the previous period is also considered. The second section concentrates on the comparison of textbook interpretations using an analysis based on Paul Ricoeur's theory of the relationship between narrative and time.
Use of Work of Art in the Internet Environment and Liability Relationships
Bradna, Jakub ; Žikovská, Petra (advisor) ; Holcová, Irena (referee)
Use of Work of Art in the Internet Environment and Liability Relationships Abstract This thesis deals with the use of work of art in the Internet Environment and liability relationships arising on the Internet. The thesis examines the essential concepts that accompany the use of works on the Internet, their historical development and context. In particular, the author's exclusive right of communication to the public, the violation of which gives rise to a copyright tort, or the definition of an Internet service provider (ISP) under various EU legal regimes. The thesis also offers a summary of the most important aspects of the most recent applicable EU digital legislation (DSM and DSA), as well as a reflection on lessons learned from the enforcement of previous digital legislation. The thesis defines the conditions for limiting the liability of ISPs, the so-called safe harbor, and the consequences of leaving the safe harbor. This thesis offers a comparison between the American and European concepts of safe harbor. The thesis describes the construction of the copyright tort that may arise after the loss of safe harbor protection, assuming that the ISP is directly or secondarily liable. The thesis offers a brief summary of unfair competition and criminal liability as well. This thesis pays particular attention...
Perceptions of climate change and environmental migration in Kenya: the analysis of Afrobarometer data
Přikryl, Šimon ; Hasman, Jiří (advisor) ; Masná, Eliška (referee)
Abstracts: Climate migration is one of the most discussed topics in political, media, and public discourse. In recent years, there has been a major paradigm shift in climate migration research. Increasingly, there has been a move away from "top-down" approaches using climatological and meteorological data, with the predictions of these analyses often overestimating the importance of climate in migration decision-making, to a so-called "bottom-up" approach dealing with climate perceptions and subjective factors entering the migration decision- making process. This bachelor thesis is mainly based on the latter paradigm and deals with the complex relationships between key factors (variables) entering into the individual migration decision-making process. It also examines regional variations in these variables within Kenyan provinces. The research findings, based on the statistical analysis of data for 1,600 respondents from the Afrobarometer organization, support the presumption that examining subjective perceptions of environmental change is vital in environmental and climate migration research, and that a number of socio-economic characteristics enter the migration decision-making process in the context of the climate migration. Keywords: Kenya; climate perception; climate change; migration; sub-Saharan Africa
Cirque overdeepening in the High Tatras
Nadžadyová, Alexandra ; Křížek, Marek (advisor) ; Margold, Martin (referee)
Cirque overdeepening in the High Tatras Abstract: The High Tatras are currently an unglaciated mountain range with distinct glacial and periglacial shapes, as they were among the most glaciated mountain ranges during the Pleistocene. This allowed the formation of glacial cirques in the valley heads, which nowadays serve as ideal paleoenvironmental indicators. The aim of this work is therefore to determine the extent of cirque overdeepening in the Slovak part of the High Tatras and to establish the relationship of cirque overdeepening to standard morphometric, positional, and environmental characteristics of cirques. Based on the current digital elevation model (DEM), cirque edges, steps, and foot of cirque walls were defined and the values of morphometric parameters important for the construction of longitudinal profiles (k-curves, c-curves) were determined, thanks to which the overdeepening of the cirques was determined. The average value of the overdeepening of all the cirques according to the k coefficient was 0,85 (ranging from 0,51 to 1,46) and according to the c coefficient it was -0,97 (ranging from -0,11 to -2,96). The resulting inventory of 110 cirques was therefore used to analyse the relationships of the overdeepening coefficients to the above characteristics among themselves. The values of the...

PharmDr. Jan Zitko, Ph.D. Konzultant: Ghada Bouz, Ph.D. Název diplomové práce: Návrh, syntéza a hodnocení heterocyklických sloučenin s potenciální antimikrobní aktivitou V Staphylococcus aureus (SA) je jednou z nejčastějších příčin život ohrožujících infekcí.
Analysis of Dubičná landslide - slope stability and soil mechanical properties
Pospíchal, Vojtěch ; Jerman, Jan (advisor) ; Racek, Ondřej (referee)
Diploma thesis Bc. Vojtěch Pospíchal Analysis of slope movement Dubičná - mechanical properties of mudstones and stability ratios ABSTRACT This thesis deals with the stability conditions of the Dubičná landslide area, which is located at the contact of two regional geological units of the Czech Cretaceous Basin and the Bohemian Central Highlands. It compares the mechanical properties of the mudstones of the Březno Formation, which were obtained through laboratory tests, with the results from another landslide site, Prackovice, where very similar geological and morphological conditions occur. Determination of critical and residual strength is essential for determining slope stability. For this purpose, laboratory tests were carried out and at the same time correlation relations were tested, which can predict strength parameters based on index parameters. Furthermore, the geometry of the landslide area with seasonal variations of the groundwater level was created. The obtained parameters and geometries were used to calculate the stability in the Plaxis program. The factor of safety is around 1, depending on the height of the groundwater level.

Svoboda, Aleš ; Kučera, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Klingorová, Kamila (referee)
The thesis explores the Ways of the Cross and their functions in the Western Bohemian region. The Ways vary in their degree of preservation, which correlates with people's attitudes. The aim is to discuss functions and meanings of the Ways of the Cross in landscape and society of Western Bohemia in the context of changes that took place in the region during the second half of the 20th century. The analysis focuses on political, social, and religious factors influencing these sacred monuments, including their maintenance, restoration, and perception. Emphasis is placed on Czech-German relations and their impact on the Ways of the Cross in the post-war period. The thesis also examines the role of municipalities, civic associations, and volunteers in revitalizing these monuments and integrating them into community life. The research seeks to better understand the historical and cultural changes in the Western Bohemian region and underscore their significance in the current meanings of the Ways of the Cross. Currently, many Ways of the Cross are being restored, with cross-border relations playing a significant role. Simultaneously, new ones are being built, predominantly artistically representing their creators. A substantial portion of the Ways of the Cross in the region is also disappearing or has...
Polyploidization and hybridization as evolutionary drivers in the Medicago sativa group
Peřina, Ondřej ; Kolář, Filip (advisor) ; Bartolić, Paolo (referee)
This bachelor's thesis addresses polyploidy induced by whole genome duplication and its consequences to the evolution of Medicago sativa species complex, i.e. wild relatives of an important forage crop alfalfa. This complex encompasses several interfertile taxa naturally occurring as diploid (2n = 16) or tetraploid (2n = 32) cytotype. Several recently conducted studies attempted to explain origin and evolution of this complex and relationships among its members using modern molecular methods, however, the results are still fragmentary and inconclusive. Two most widespread members of the complex: purple flowering Medicago sativa and yellow flowering Medicago falcata are genetically differentiated both at diploid and tetraploid level, what is supporting their recognition as distinct taxa. Furthermore, it has been shown that tetraploid M. sativa subsp. sativa is an autopolyploid that originated from diploid M. sativa subsp. caerulea by intraspecific whole genome duplication. On the other hand, the origin of tetraploid M. falcata seems to be more complex, presumably involving autopolyploidization followed by past introgression from Medicago prostrata. Most of the studies concerning this topic were performed on accessions, which are sometimes of uncertain ploidy and origin, obtained from germplasm...
